  1. A few years ago when my discovery went in for a mot they put an accelerometer in the passenger door well back out of the garage and then accelerated and braked to make sure they were ok. (they hadn’t got a 4 wheel roller) Had a phone call a short while after getting my car from them. “Can we have our accelerometer back please” 😂😂
  2. I've tried to contact GBSprings 3 times now. Once via the website and twice by phone - the latter I was told they would get back to me. I did say when I rang today that I didn't think they did the 1500 rear spring - the one in their list is for the MkIV and is listed as different to the 1500. But as said, still waiting for a reply.
  3. 90? I don't think so! I don't go that fast in my modern in the UK. 🤪
  4. Does detail chassis and engine number, place of first registration and spec
  5. The body number is not recorded on my heritage certificate.
  6. I bought a fluke meter for work with a pack of extra leads (Also fluke) which was a good deal at the time- though I rarely use the croc clips - though I aught to more often as like Clive I run out of hands quite often! I wouldn't mind, it is in the same bag as the meter!
  7. I like the big reversing light! Proper job!
  8. The new tyres actually brought the speedo more into line of true! Despite being nearly 3% different to original. Also .7” smaller so will have dropped the back - and front a bit too.
  9. Tyres are 165/70 I took some pictures of the rear this morning. Very hard to get the angle right! (And failed essentially😂) lowest point on the rear is about 5”. Wheel arch is about 22 1/2” off the floor.
  10. One of mine is a new triumph fob - and for a bazaar reason I like the original one. Ed
  11. No its all good Clive. The only thing that would be interesting is the height from the floor to the top of the strut - depending exactly where you measure it mine is 17 3/4" - underside of the spring plate by the where it joins the bracket. But given yours's is in the air it isn't important - unless someone else wants to play the game! I'll measure the rear chassis height on mine for amusement but I know the rear is low! Front will stay as it is for now - at least until the rear is sorted. The actual suspension looks ok - just high at the arch.
  12. Comparing the chassis heights - mine seems to be about 3/4" higher than yours Clive. But about 1 1/4" higher at the wheel arch? The upper arm is level or slightly higher at the outside by the wheel compared to the inside - which I thought was about right? And you suspension is perfect compared to mine. 🤪
  13. Thanks Clive - I can see them now I'll do some measuring and see what mine works out at!
  14. Not sure if it’s my phone but I can’t see the images ☹️
  15. No it’s a steel bonnet. The bits around the indicators are fibreglass - but they are small as you know.
  16. Could it be that the bonnet being a Gt6 one has a different arch profile? I guess the measurement to compare with others is the floor to the top of the shock.
  17. Surely if the spring pan is in the wrong place, and presumably too high, the length of the shock is wrong below the bottom pan (as Clive has intimated) as the spring length is correct between the pans. Given the shocks are Koni I can’t see them being manufactured incorrectly?
  18. I remember many years ago I took the glass out of my beetle to do something. Spray it probably. front came out easy enough. As did the rear. the trouble came when I placed the rear screen on the floor - just touch the ground and there was a bit bang and I was left holding some bits of glass. The rest being in a pile on the floor! I left the side glass in. 😂
  19. I’ve finally got into the garage and measured the spring length. And it’s 8”. that’s between the two chrome seats I also measured from the floor to the arm. though that’s a bit more variable
  20. Only applicable if you run the dehumidifier just to get water. If it’s a by product then it is indeed astute and sensible.
  21. Yes that's the stuff I used. When I looked wisdom at the time said it was good enough!
  22. I put the wrong stuff in first time around and had to drain and flush before using the right stuff. Was a bit peved. 😁
  23. I used AF and distilled water after sorting the head out - mostly because it was cheap enough and was in Tesco's (£1 for a couple of ltrs I think or was it 5ltrs? Can't remember - I know I got 2 containers of it!)
