  1. I have to confess that the width is just fine on my desktop- but then I have a 27" screen and 2560 pixies to spread it all over so a small loss to the right is hardly an issue - but I accept not everyone has a screen that big!
  2. Responsive is the term used. Moves the layout around to suit the device being viewed on. my iPhone doesn’t have any padding whichever way I look at the site. But is very clear and laid out well.
  3. As a fellow admin on another forum I know how much time these updates take! Thanks for all you do!!
  4. I've got a blackview in my modern - had one model or other for years - but they are very expensive compared to the others on the market these days (They were one of the best when they first came out) and I wouldn't have another one. Plenty on Amazon for under £50 which seem ok.
  5. I have a set of Irwin extractors and they are excellent. - 10mm might be enough length to grip - but otherwise as suggested - weld a nut on.
  6. ISO fix points are not compulsory as far as I know - and also AFAIK they are only to mount child seat to and not normal 3 point belts. I had a car (Probably have a car!) with ISOfix and never had seats to match. As ever its a solution to a problem that doesn't really exist. Basically people can't follow instructions correctly when fitting a car seat - which essentially says you put your knee on the seat so it compresses the squab as you put the belt on - so it keeps the seat firmly in place. You don't just chuck them in and put the belt around.
  7. My oil pressure gauge is lashed in - I'm going to take it out now I'm happy enough the pressure in mine. I did contemplate fitting it permanently in the dash when my Dad re-veneered it - but decided not to as I prefer it laid out as stock. Ok the burr walnut isn't stock - but that's a minor detail
  8. Second gear on mine is not well - only in so far as the bulking rings are worn and will grind going in - especially if making a reasonably brisk change. One day I'll get the bits together and fit an overdrive box.
  9. Thanks Colin - time will tell! Hopefully not in 444days like the time between the last fills! Going to try and get out a bit more until the rain (Though its raining now!) properly sets in - then I plan to change the fuse box and put some more circuits in. I've had a new box for about a year now.... Over drive box would be nice to get the revs down a little bit. My daily being a DERV makes 4000rpm feel wrong!
  10. Managed to go for a longer run on Saturday. Went to a mate of mine who has just bought a 31year old Merc 560 SEC - and it needs some work - not too much - most of the issues are minor - bit of welding in the boot - dash has gone a bit milky - which is why I went. Anyway - went the back way and got into loads of traffic but despite the heat temperature didn't get to the 1/2 way mark once- which is pretty much where it was before I think. Got there and had a chat etc before coming back - and like a fool went on auto pilot onto the M42 - and realised why the way I went was busy - the M42 was closed between 7A and 6 - worse still I decided to go the way I normally do and not go onto the M6 north - and ended up in Coventry! Still - gave it some beans and had it running at 70 on the speedo - 4000rpm on the rev-counter for a good while - up the hill up the bit where the toll joins and the temperature didn't rise at all and the oil pressure remained good. Did about 60 or 70 miles in the end. Fuel gauge was just off the full (It was full bar 6miles when I started) which is good - might mean I have got the float set right ish now too!
  11. Anyone tried reversing bleeding brakes? I know its quite common on clutches.
  12. Another resurrection! After finally getting the patio finished (well 99%) the drive was clear enough to actually get the car out and take it for a spin. Didn't go far as I went 70/80's style and left my phone at home! But a decent run including a stop for fuel - which turned out to be the first one in 440days - which is terrible and some pretty hard driving within the available limits. All the pipework was dry and the oil pressure significantly improved - idles at about 20-25psi and was 50+ at 2000rpm and was higher as the revs increased. I've also had a move around in the garage and I can now drive the car into it and get out of the car without causing meself a mischief! All I have to do now is drive it about some more!
  13. I've told both my girls to elope.
  14. Welcome Grant. It’s a good place to be with plenty of people in here with lots of experience of all things triumph. looks like yours has had a little work done to it to make it bit more sporty?
  15. I think it’s gdpr that says you have to be able to choose what cookies are set etc. But websites outside of the Eu can ignore them I think.
  16. Bots are just the way the internet seArch engines work. Some forums and I’m sure invision will be similar allow you to turn off areas that you don’t want them to search. Committee member areas or specific club areas for example. And as long as the bot comforms to the standard they will not go in. But it’s only by standard.
  17. Hum. I guess per member the cost is quite low based on the lowest concurrent users and the membership of TSSC - but they advertise it as for personal use too - you would have to be pretty well healed or do a lot of ecommerce to cover the cost of hosting!
  18. Invision is the forum software and is american. They don't necessarily host the forum - in fact I would be very surprised if they did. I used to admin a photo group and used it but the hosting was in Europe. My own website is hosted in Germany as it happens - for some reason UK hosting is quiet expensive.
  19. As an admin for another forum - I can think of plenty of reasons why it can go offline 🤣
  20. I actually like the new version of Edge. Chrome has got too intrusive for my liking. I use Ubuntu as well for my website - but that's as a server so all command line stuff and no pretty desktop I'm not very good at it still, but learning slowly.
  21. I almost took my Spitfire out today - almost as the drive has lost its covering of bags of sand, MOT and the like after about 5weeks - but thought I'd better give it (the drive, not the car) a jet wash to get it looking something like normal. In time for another week off in 2 weeks to hopefully get the front lawn re-laid as well as back filling the garden to the new walls/patio and grassing that.
  22. If its on an extension, then I would take that out and either replace both or get the switch out on the bench.
  23. I think you need to get off the fence Doug.
  24. Not been out in my Spitfire for ages - not because it doesn’t run - but because it’s blocked in the garage by a lot of sand/gravel and rubbish because we are having the patio done at the back. got a third skip coming next Saturday so there is a risk that the drive will be clear in a couple of weeks. No doubt when the rain comes.☹️
  25. Not a good idea to google my name at the moment........
