Thanks guys for your advice. Used a Dremel with a cutting disc. Funny how you sometimes never think logically about problems. Pete, It was for the heater control on my TR6. The GT6 remains a work in progress but, hopefully, before too long I’ll have it up and running. Thanks again. Paul

Dave, I appreciate your dilemma having been let down twice by people who on the face of things were genuine guys but in fact were simply unreliable and, sadly, unprincipled. I’m a member of a local car club and a number of members have had body and paintwork done over many years by the business below and have been impressed to the point were they now advertise regularly in the club magazine. I appreciate, too, it’s a 50mile- ish haul from where you are but it might be worth giving them a call/visit. Paul

Thanks Pete. I buy from reputable providers of hoses and related components who are servicing industries where such products are often mission critical. Maybe I’m lucky in that all around me are petrochemical plants and associated operations and any business providing them with anything less than bang on spec wouldn’t be tolerated.

Why is it that Gates Barricade must be used? There are multiple E5/E10 safe hoses available from reputable manufactures and used in applications many more critical than our cars - unless market is flooded with phoney goods.

Hi, Came across this topic while browsing. Just cleaned and polished the reflectors, washed the glass and wiped the bulb on the rear cluster of my TR6. The improvement is “eye catching” . However, the front side lights not so impressive so will be installing LEDs back and front and will use them, for my own added safety and that of other road users, as daytime running lights. Paul

I find the forum invaluable and wondered if it could be made more so by the use of tele-conferencing. I don’t think this has been mooted previously and if it has, apologies, but could TSSC members with a particular issue/problem be hooked up via Zoom and the like for practical, virtual “hands-on” advice with someone (many someones perhaps?) who has the experience and knowledge to assist, direct to wherever their car is? There would need to be some formalities established to lay down the rules of engagement. I wonder too, if this could be facilitated via the Club so it is a TSSC membership benefit and members know they are dealing with other members. I suppose it’s just a variation on the “fiddle days” held at the HQ which aren’t practical for many to get to.

Thanks Guys. I’m chasing the source of a fuel smell, changing components one by one. Draining is a pain and always messy so thinking I might insert a Y valve. I know much has been written on this site and the other one with some remarkable arrangements for draining and isolating fuel flow. However, as muted above, I want to keep things as original and as simple as possible. The filter and pump have already been moved into the boot which means there isn’t a great deal of room for further mods. Inserting a suitable valve in-line with existing hose routing has appeal.

Hi, Can I safely utilise a suitably sized Y hose diverter on a fuel line? I’m looking for a simple way empty the tank without having to revert to disconnecting the hose from tank to filter on my TR6. Thanks.

Not a TSSC event but there’ll be few folk out and about in the Wirral Area this evening gathering at the Cottage Loaf, Thurstaston, CH61 0HJ from around 7pm. There’s usually a mix of cars and folk are very welcoming.

“Herald of the Show”! Not really sure if it’s one for the purists but does have an original steering wheel.

The North Cheshire Classic Car Club held its annual show today and it was excellent! Twenty four or so guest Clubs attended with an amazing array of vehicles from vintage to armoured and the odd tank too. A goodish sprinkling of “our” cars and I’ve added some pics. I’ll add another post with the Herald of the Show.

…. is the North Cheshire Classic Car Club annual show at Claremont Farm (post code is CH63 4JB) it’s just off junction 4 of the M53 and head towards Bebington. Other clubs will be represented including Wirral Classic Car Club, Wirral Car Enthusiasts and others. TSSC members are often sprinkled among them. There’s always a fantastic range of vehicles including, of course, Triumphs. Weather is looking good and the turnout for this event is usually humongous so this weekend could be really special. Claremont Farm offers food and refreshments and usually there’s a band and other things going on. It’s on from 11:30 to 15:00 and, best of all, it’s FREE! If you do go please buy a raffle ticket as it’s the NCCC’s big opportunity to raise funds.

Hi, I decided it was better to get pro-active with folk if I thought there was going to be “interference” with my car by stepping in and inviting the potential “interferor” (generally a child) to sit in the car. Remarkable responses from rapid retreats to genuine awe and pleasure on faces. Worst by far though, are the four and unders whose parents deem it ok for their little treasure to run riot because they’re in a field and they are, after all, “only little” - but with dirty hands, ice cream, sticks, toys etc. I also label components under the bonnet which people genuinely seem to appreciate and leads to many interesting conversations such as, “It says ‘accelerator cable’ what does it do?”

What the MSE article clearly conveys is that it is quite a task to run a website that is: easy to use, accurate and kept up to date, is slick and easily navigable, delivers the user experiences the organisation behind it wants and the users themselves expect. That’s why MSE employs a lot of people. We can’t hope to emulate that. Maybe what we could explore is if the same kind of synergies that has led to the combined annual jamboree (Triumph and MG Weekend) could be applied to other common areas of our “business” activities.
