  1. You don't mention the exhaust system being used..... If you are running a decent extractor exhaust & sports system then your 1296 will benefit from correctly setup HS4's. If the head has had some decent work on it (not just CR) then that will help to. ........ Andy
  2. Try checking with an IR thermometer to see if you actually have a problem, if not I'd change the sender first ....... Andy

  6. Hi Aidan, My only experience with them is from over 30 years ago when they were based much closer to Reading - at the time I was looking for a car for a friend of mine and was not very impressed with the quality of their stock and the way I was treated. So much so that I never felt inclined to return. As I said, that was a long time ago, they could have improved. ......... Andy
  7. Hi Steve, There is an old dealership in Ottershaw, Trident, (how a Honda Dealer) there are a couple of older pictures on their website in the history section. Although they may not be keen them being reproduced without speaking to them first, there are some screen-shot from an episode of The Sweeney which shows it in the background - plus a Dolomite and Spitfire http://www.tridenthonda.co.uk/pageloader.pl?page=home_other_abouttrident_history_thesweeney .......... Facebook

Facebook is a different animal to the more traditional forums, but it is a very useful tool - I use it a lot, as i do twitter, less so Instagram and Pinterest - all for different purposes. Best to choose what works for you and respect the diversity that gives options to people with different communication preferences. The other thought is that something may not meet your needs today, but things change....... in 6/12/18 months it may be a better bet. ....... Andy
  14. i'v used a crypton one, as in Kevin's link, for years - the only thing i don't like is that it is quick restrictive to the intake..... i'm told that some find these a better bet: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Carb-sync-tool-air-flow-meter-Weber-delortto-IDF-DRLA-etc-/252231523420 ..... Andy
  15. The last couple of occasions i'v replace my shock absorbers i recalled the times when, having spent a more on the adjustable ones, i invariably ended up setting them to the middle-setting! If the car is for road use i just opt for new std. ones now and pocket the change ...... well, ok, spend it on something else ..... Andy
  16. when I first got mine I picked a a great numpty-award, I didn't realise that the dipstick needed a bit of a twist to get it to seat properly - It sat about half an inch too high! Oops ...... Andy
  17. They often appear on eBay as well - wherever you get one from, don't forget the felt washer ....... Andy

  19. Hey Pete, worth checking that wear in the rear subframe bushes isn't contributing - wise choice re. the hubs, be careful when fighting to the trailing arms, helicoil at the ready ..... Andy
  20. I haven't done it on a Spitfire myself, but i am sure plenty have. I did recently replaced the after-market seats that my TR4 came with for a set of Mk2 MX5 seats (separate headrests, the runners were from a Mk1) I spent a long time looking for a set of second-hand ones, but ended up contacting a chap who often advertises on eBay, he supplied some recovered in a style a little more in keeping with the TR. ..... Andy
  21. i'm 95% sure the 13/60 should have both hubcaps and outer trims ......... Andy
  22. As Pete mentions, all down to longevity, the quality of rubber bushes can be quite poor, Polys will last much longer and tighten things up (for a higher price) ........ Andy
  23. sounds good.... i will have to plan better next time and get along! .... Andy
