    Car Ramps

The composite ones I was thinking of are Race Ramps, a few options available, both one-piece and 2-piece to create a shallow incline. Note, overall light is less than that privided by the likes of the ramps mentioned earlier. Suppliers mainly in the US, but amazon/eBay could be other options

    Car Ramps

I didn’t fancy paying the full price either - mine were second-hand, a whisker over PaulH’s guidance above. CJ Autos do have show-deals at Stoneleigh, certainly worth exploring. there are also some newer ramps now available made out of a light composite material - not sure on costs/durability, but you no longer need to be Geoff Capes to move them around - could be another option

    Car Ramps

The hydraulic ones don’t have a threaded part at all (the manual ones do).... but, to your point, there is a safety-lock to prevent an unwanted collapse!
  4. I havnt used them myself, but i have heard good feedback for Silvabronz in Alton, Hampshire: http://www.beckworth.net/ Not cheap, but with something like this cheap is not usually what you need! ...... Andy P.S. just realised that that you didn’t want other recommendations - apologies for speed-reading and ignoring that part!

    Car Ramps

I managed to pick up a pair of the heavy-duty CJ autos ramps recently.... you certainly couldn’t call them flimsy! included in my haul were a pair of lead-on ramps to shallow the angle even more if clearance is a big issue. When in the lower position they don’t need so much room to store which, for me, is important as space is limited. ...... Andy
  6. If you stated in your proposal that the car would be garaged overnight then that clause will apply.... given your AV, you could state that your car is is not garaged and they would (at least in the past) honour you AV if the worst happened - but your annual premium may be a little higher for stating it isn’t garaged overnight. for some folk, that may be the better approach - all down to personal circumstance
  7. The last time I spoke with PJ on the subject about 3 years ago) they would only honour the agreed-value part of the insurance if the vehicle was over £15k if it was garaged overnight. Only the agreed-value part of the policy was inactive if ungaraged during the overnight period. As always, please check with the insurer/broker to be sure, and get anything you may need to refer back to in writing - ‘I read it on the internet’ isn’t going to help if you are in dispute.
  8. Quite right Pete, many forget the effect of postcodes and concentrate purely on the car/age/value/mileage, once the policy-proposer is over-25 postcodes have the single biggest effect on premiums. (I’m assuming they don’t have numerous arson convictions as well!!)
  9. Welcome back, and good luck with the rebuild
  10. Unfortunately your first policy is always going to be problematic.... both my girls after passing at 17 had their first year insurance on pretty boring stuff, the best insurance-wise and being dirt cheap to run was the C1. Adding one (or both) of your parents as named drivers on your policy will lower the premium - often by 15-18%. I think your desire to drive/run an older car while gaining experience is a great idea - including learning to drive defensively, yes, you are still at the mercy of other drivers, but aren’t we all whenever we cross the road? Have you spoken (rather than online quotes) to members of the club insurance panel, they may be able to help. But if not, I’d probably go for the boring option, build some no-claims, get another birthday in and then try again - I know that isn’t whepat you want to hear though! if you do find somewhere do let others know so that they can tread the same path, happy policy-hunting. last thought, Diamond (subsidiary of Admiral) will sell you a 10-month initial policy and then give you 1 year NCB.... so you get your premium-reducing NCB 2 months early ..... Engine oil

Because it isn’t a mineral 20/50 with a decent level ppm of Zn in ZDDP

Your car, your choice, but I wouldn’t use it in my Triumph
  15. Tony Hart used to sell them, you could try his eBay shop ....... Andy
  16. Welcome back, I can’t help with a car, but good luck with the search!
  17. i have used the Hamilton outdoor cover in the past on my old Stag, worked very well, at the time it was my daily driver. After checking prices, i purchased from the Club shop because it was cheaper at the time. I now have the half-cover for the TR, same material, just a bit smaller! ........ Andy
  18. Hi Mike, Welcome to the forum, that's a nice brace of Triumphs! ...... andy
  19. Yep, no complaints from me at all on the Pertronix, I had them on a Herald and a Stag, the Powermax is on my current TR4. ..... Andy
  20. I have had 3 cars fitted with lumenition optronic, all of which unfortunately failed (others may have different experiences) on the first 2 occasions I replaced the failed lumenition with a Pertronix (Aldon) Ignitor, was great, no problems at all. (I brought from retrorockets.com when the $/£ exchange rate was very favourable, shipped in the uk so no chance of import duty) on The second occasion I brought a simonbbc powermax one as mentioned earlier. That has been been fine as well, however it was soooo cheap I was uncertain of the quality - so I brought two, one fitted and one as a spare in the glovebox, and still saved £'s. no hesitation in recommending either product ...... Andy
  21. All working well for me, thanks to all involved in the update, good job! ......Andy
