  1. Welcome Tom, good luck with the search for a GT6, you may find some recommendations from members or potential purchases in the club classified ..... Andy
  2. my first reaction was to shim it..... but the more i think out it shaving the back of the cam sprocket would be the right thing to do. ....... Andy
  3. Ethylene glycol for me... just change every 2 or 3 years, job done - in fact that is exactly what I did earlier this afternoon ..... Andy
  4. I was swapping my radiator this afternoon and considered popping the overflow bottle in the dishwasher..... I thought better of it for now ) ...... andy.
  5. Doesn’t anyone else just have a brick in their drip-tray to prevent that?
  6. Hey Dave, at that price it has to be worth a go! Funny that you used to live so close... i’v lived in the area boy and man, to be honest it hasn’t changed much At all over the years, just fewer Triumphs on the roads
  7. Bluetooth UE Megaboom hooked up to your phone; streaming of any stored music, internet radio plus hands-free phone. Speaker is removable so you can take it with you when parked up or lock in the boot. not much of a downside if you also keep your old period-look radio in the existing mount. ....... andy
  8. Looks like he is now sorted - thanks very much for the kind offer Roger ..... Andy
  9. On the off chance that someone may have one available for a fair (read low!) price... good friend of mine is doing a shoestring resto on a 1500 spit and has found a cam which has seen better days in the lobe department! If you have one please PM me your details and I’ll pass them to him .... many thanks in advance for any help .... Andy
  10. Welcome to the TSSC and forum, nice story and choice, I’m sure you will enjoy your new car.... they get better with use so don’t let it rest too long! ...... Andy
  11. Certainly looks far better than many that have breathed again, all the best with the recommission JY have had a decent reputation for a long time ...... Andy
  12. Very very nice Trevor, great job! you have given me a good excuse to buy a copy of TW ...... Andy
  13. Well it has been a super job by you all Darren! Well done, the rear cargo section looked as though it had come straight out of the factory, top marks ...... Andy
  14. Thoroughly enjoyed Stoneleigh this year.... very nice Royal Blue Herald Estate on the club stand, a credit to its owner
  15. I agree, it was a surprise to me .... answer would need to come from above my pay-grade
  16. Small one on Page 17? ...... Andy
  17. For those attending that may wish to double-check both the stall-holders and their locations beforehand the electronic version of the free program(me) is now available online: https://secure.viewer.zmags.com/publication/3e22e9ed ...... Andy
  18. yep, the TSSC will have a stand at Stoneleigh
  19. nothing to add to this..... Pete is bang-on ...... andy
  20. I’m not a fan of wooden wheels, I love a leather motolita though..... your car, so your choice, you may want to ‘feel’ a few first. I bought my first one at Stoneleigh many years ago where the stall had a huge variety to try out. ...... Andy
  21. I used to have the bonnet off my Heralds pretty regularly, as you say, couple of connectors, disconnect the stay and whip out the pivot bolts (while holding it) - never had any problems with alignment when putting it back together either. ....... Andy
  22. It can be done, but to be honest, it is sooo much easier with the bonnet off - as long as you have 2pairs of hands it would be an odd choice to leave it on. ...... Andy
  23. Welcome Simon ...... personally I consider 1500or 1300 Spitfires in pretty-much the same way, mostly a question of whether you prefer the earlier or later styling. I’v driven 1300MkIV’s, 1500’s, MkIV’s with a 1500 engine and 1500 with a 1300 engine....... the one mechanical item I would always look for is overdrive! then it is simply down to condition - bodywork is always a bigger draw on your wallet than the oily bits which really are nice and easy to work with. all the best with your search.... the more you look at the clearer it will be when you are standing in front of the right one ....... Andy
  24. Looking good... now give it what it really needs - some miles
