  1. I am a moderator of a famous British slot car brand and apart from the occasional gift of a car (which has dried up as they can't/won't ship to the EU at the moment) I get 0 feedback, praise, compliments... I only do it because no one else can/will... Therefore I have a lot of time and understanding and sympathy for other mods!
  2. It isn't a whole lot better here in Germany. I stopped selling on Amazon and I seldom sell on ebay because the fees were making it a loss. When I started getting complaints from customers that they paid 4.99€ for shipping and item only "cost" 3.70€ to send I gave up because I only got 3€ from Amazon... Luckily there are alternatives!
  3. Yeah doing something that saves time and cost is never a thing a company would do on their own. πŸ˜„ In my experience regulations are about 50/50 of actually helping the customer or helping companies margins...
  4. As with anything non-standard: Document it well. That is easier today than ever. Pictures, videos, electronic notes... We are all short for this world in the long run (see what I did there?) and however ends up with it will have no clue what to do.
  5. I love that! I had a heck of a time find a torque wrench with the units I needed. I have go back and forth between Imperial and Metric so this sound good!

Personally I think decent brakes and pads and a properly bled system is fine for normal to hard road use. Downshifting also helps a might too... I see on BookFace every week people who have a car that is literally falling apart and they are worried about the stopping power of a car that can't even move!
  7. The biggest prob with through the car is the mess...
  8. I didn't sign a release for my picture at work! Take that down! πŸ˜„
  9. I misspoke (typed?) I meant Flipping Bangers.... Bangers and Cash is OK if I have nothing else to do... which nearly never happens... What I do find interesting though is when they have cars they claim are worth XXXX$€ whatever and at auction they almost never get that... Goes back to it is only worth what someone is willing to pay!
  10. MGs have monocoque construction and this is down to the frame being in the way on Triumphs that forces you to take it out through the interior. A ramp or pit does not help at all in fact...
  11. Bangers and Cash is fairly realistic in that they never get the cars tarted up too much and they try and fail on many fronts. Heck they scrapped the Alfa in one episode. I nearly did that!
  12. I will give Shed and Buried a chance... It is on Quest. I can see why things like tin can exhausts and coat hanger fixtures aren't part of the show for liability reasons. The problem is all ICEs up to a the late 90's have more or less the same problems and can only be fixed a certain number of ways. Filling up coolant, changing oil, greasing ball joints etc. over and over again would get tedious... A point made on the Sniff and Smith podcast is that many cars that are for the most part unspectacular can have one thing that makes them unique. It doesn't have to be something mechanical or engineering but it would be better for them to cover more cars like that. I do take exception though when the repeat myths or half-truths much like Ant's TR7 disdain yet his love of X19. I liked for example when Edd did a Stag he was worried about overheating but they eventually discovered that wasn't really an issue.
  13. Yeah I have since noticed a car or two in the US do have them... Guess not such a big find after allπŸ˜ͺ😩😭
  14. This is probably common knowledge but while rewatchintg John Clancy's DVD "The Triumph Stabnard Stroy" I noticed in the ad with the real Spitfire the 1500 has a badge and not a sticker. See attached. It is roughly the same as the MKIV badge bot my guess is longer as the Spitfire part looks the same bot 1500 is of course longer than MKIV. I couldn't see it on the side or back like on the MKIV in the video but it all goes by quickly... Perhaps interesting....?
  15. I find that even in the later Edd China series there were a lot of "This is an easy job with this specialist tool!" *googles the tool: 300 (or more) of your favorite currency....* Case in point: Edd checks the alignment with a laser based system or when Ant checks the weight distribution with a computer controlled scale... I don't mind them showing these things exist but it should be something reasonable to be done at home and if not give a guestimate about what a specialist would charge. I have only seen a few episodes of the new series with Elvis and seems more Edd China-ey, although his youth means he never saw these cars new or even as common used cars cars. I also personally don't care that he was an "F1" mechanic. Any motorsport mechanic has my respect period/full stop. When I walk the paddock at amateur events you can just feel the comradery and usually in most other motorsports as well. TCR Germany guys are constantly in each others' garages. F1? Hmm...
  16. Ant refusing to be seen with the car at the end was a bit juvenile in my opinion... It was great seeing the electrical stuff tackled though!
  17. I may be watching too much James Bond...
  18. How odd am I that when i saw the pic I wondered if you could land in the driver's seat after jumping off... πŸ™‚
  19. I have looked and looked and looked but I cannot find anyone who has used the paint or the above method and given any long term results for it. Anyone know if they last more than y ear or two?!
  20. Hmm.. all I see is white... now if these were F-117s or B-2s I would have understood... :_ -)
  21. I resemble that comment! πŸ˜„
  22. I always found the Angles obtuse... *goes back to day job*
  23. The spelled America wrong... they spelled it Mercia... ;-D
