  1. Hello Sam I probably have a set as I did not refit them I used hex heads (they are only there to stop numptys over tightening them as they have short threads. Roger

Hello All I thought this may be of interest to some in the light of firms offering to do things for us that we can do for FREE! It came via my local independent garage I use. https://www.approvedgarages.co.uk/news/how-to-replace-a-lost-mot-certificate/ Roger ps I know you clever ones will know this already!
  3. Hello John They did but the time has passed and open to all now instead of making a loss on the event. Well I think that's how it goes? Roger
  4. Hello Alan I wish ! It is a Kieft Sport 1954 2000cc These were seen at Spa 6 hours last September Roger
  5. Hello Alan O rings received Thank's (now I just have to find the spare solenoid in the garage!) Roger
  6. Hello BFG I went with 2kg in 0.1g I reasoned with 1g you could be the best part of 2 g out if one just under and one just over(but that is being picky) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2kg-0-1g-Mini-Electronic-Pocket-Digital-Gold-Weighing-Pans-Scales-Jewelry-Scale/312862741885?hash=item48d812957d:g:KWoAAOSwvGtd3VUw Plus they are so cheap! Roger ps you need 2kg if you want to check total mass but I got rods all very very close and then pistons then a bit of mix and match and you get within a Knats Knacker!
  7. I think petrol vapour is heavy so creeps along the floor Roger Ps in a former life i used the repair petrol pumps and my van always smelled of petrol! But may have been the gallon or two that had if by magic stayed in my mearuring can! But thankfully they did not do diesel!
  8. Hello All Just to stir it up a bit more! https://www.ngk.com/learning-center/article/815/wasted-spark-ignition-systems So does that mean I should swop the plugs around every X miles to get even more mileage out of them? Roger
  9. Hello John and Iain All I can say they seem to work for me but as I said I use a modern coil pack and leads as for wasted spark not sure what difference it makes other than they tell they alternate between positive and negative firing? Still 15,000 miles seems good ? Roger
  10. I bought mine off Fleabay Must have been lucky Plus a spare coil pack for £10 tested it and packed in the boot along with crank sensor and throttle sensor(same as points and rotor arm etc) Roger ps Eurocarspares have them for £13.48 with p&p just put VW Golf 2000 1.6 petrol in
  11. Hello All Just found this not sure if it is all true but make you feel good! https://in.bosch-automotive.com/en/parts_and_accessories/service_parts_1/spark_plugs_1/bosch_super_4/bosch_super_2 £22 at Halfrauds but Fleabay these sort of prices https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOSCH-SUPER-4-PLUGS-WR78-PERFORMANCE-UPGRADE-SPARK-PLUG-0-242-232-504-0242232504/174109417087?epid=249449021&hash=item2889bade7f:i:174109417087 I bought 2 sets when I decided on them as I had experienced fouling (2nd set still unused but have been to Spain twice and Spa twice!!!!) Not sure if good for normal coils as my Micro Squirt uses a VW coil pack and wasted spark(which I suppose helps clean them??) I am very careful when messing with ignition as I have a shock with old coils and that makes your eyes water so not sure what perhaps double that would do? Roger
  12. Hello All I also changed to Bosch multi electrodes after recommendation from Nick when I went over to Micro Squirt and had a few fouling problems while trying to get the mixture right. Once they were in no fouling again even while messing with all sorts of settings! I use the Bosch WR78 I think they have done about 15,000 miles now! I pulled them today and had a look at them all the gaps seem to be the same(0.035") give or take a whisker I wonder if they are better as there seems to be 8 spark paths and perhaps it is like when the old Engine Tuners use to index the plugs so the spark was towards the inlet valve? Roger

3/4" UNF is going to have limited use! Unless you are moving on to bigger toys? Roger

Hello Mike How about a 3/4" unf bolt and turn one end down to 5/8" unf? You could use a nut thinned down for the shoulder! Roger
  15. Hello All Plus read the bends(as the police used to teach)if it is still tightening wait and if looks to be opening open the throttle. I to was more of a motorcyclist and it hurts if you fall off(I know several times!!!!!) I lead a group of younger riders on a trip to mid wales when I had my Moto Guzzi 1100 sport(A beast that took no prisoners!) but when we got to the coast they all said what a great ride and we think your brake lights are faulty as they do not come on very often! I said just read the road it is not a race track were different criteria apply! Roger
  16. Hello All Mine is fitted the other way up (ie hoses at bottom) then you can undo them to drain the old oil out Roger
  17. Hello Mark Have a look at this link shows my oil cooler position http://sideways-technologies.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/7558-fuel-cooling/ Roger Ps can do more potos when home thursday in cyprus now on holidayio
  18. Hello Darron I rebuilt my single rail gearbox last winter and there are different springs(fogot which way) but i think if you check the holes in the hubs one deeper than the other and if you put the long springs in there it will not go together but short ones would not give the 19/21 lbs needed Roger
  19. Hello All I made one out of some Teflon bar I have I ground a tool to the radius I think I left it on the bar until I had done the lever end the parted it off(it was a fiddle) and if you had to pay me to make one it would be to expensive even at pensioners rates Roger ps it is a bit tight but I thought it will wear in? 5000 miles later it still a bit tight but does not rattle!
  20. Hello All These people do a whole range and have been in business for years. https://www.tracytools.com/ Plus just buy the sizes and quality you need! Roger
  21. Hello Badwolf I think at that price they will carbon steel ok for cleaning out threads and Aluminium/Mild steel with care but will soon lose there edge and jam/break in Stainless Steel or good steel Roger
  22. Hello Mark It is hinged from the top left of the cubby box and switches on when it is folded out the problem is when they get old they swing out on their own Roger
  23. Hello Chris 1500 Spitfire is marked 6000 to 7000 rpm! I think if you go to 7000 rpm you would be looking for a new engine! But I am told the 1300 can rev to these figures(when balanced etc) According to the calculator if I can rev it to 5000rpm in o/d top I will be doing 118.9mph (j type 28%) 5500 = 130.7mph 6000 = 142mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Roger
