  1. tried that no way would it push over had to use a soft mallet and cloth, will try your method on this again see how it goes paul
  2. maybe the last one was tight for some reason, had to hit it quite hard left a small dent hopefully this one will be ok paul

  4. i am with green flag , have my 20 year old van and herald on it , when i took it out i had to declare both vehicles over 15 years old and are listed on my policy. the said as long as i notify them i can add more . i am covered for any car that i travel in home start plus the classics £125 a year paul
  5. i have done it, not easy to get it properly welded in place though i lifted the body slightly even then top weld is awkward . would say mot standard repair in my case paul
  6. new fixings on order 5 in total . best way to clip the chrome strip back , last one i ended up putting a dent in it would not lock down so i used a soft mallet and soft cloth dented it though . paul
  7. pete you have properly already eliminated this rotor arm not fitting tightly had it on my vitesse would start up rough then run but underload would run like on 2 pots paul

    must be hundreds if not a lot more . before rolling tax exemption it went on a lot just swop the chassis plate over not so much now though. does it matter it is what it is just drive it enjoy paul

    Worrying noise

    to be honest in my opinion a decent mechanic should be able to tell main / big end bearing noise in minutes . i could for sure paul.
  10. pour mine in the fish pond stops it freezing in the winter . joking of course , take mine to the local garage packet of biscuits keeps them happy they dispose for me paul
  11. str seems to work well around the herald vitesse engine cross member where the engine leaks , sure no one uses old engine oil anymore .

  13. not the same car, but had the same on my toyota hiace new clutch kit slave cylinder all blue print so good quality touch the clutch pedal noise gone lasted around 2000 miles then went ,since covered 10000 with out problems paul

    Non starting herald

    i use a pump that came with a audi 80 pumps the tank out in minutes. i would once drained remove the sender will be surprised how much fuel is left and you can inspect the tank
  15. next on the list cambelt was changed at 40000 10 years ago. now 70000 miles on clock but should have been changed 3years ago on age, any one done a belt change apparently same as early fiesta mondeo p100 . been quoted best price £480 inc parts tempted to have a go myself seems has 2 belts main and pump belt quote was for just the main belt and no water pump .
  16. how do i test has power to it, but how do i know if its getting hot enough the other 3 where coated black so not working correctly paul
  17. will leave for now its a iron head not alloy .so maybe might have a chance , snapped a 1/4 inch drive bar . not enough space for anything bigger unless i drain down remove the rad which best left for now i think , no smell of diesel in ex tank paul.

  19. ok thinking probably leave it then did start a minus 6 so should be ok paul
  20. purchased thursday told ran fine . delivered went to start yesterday turn key glow plug light out crank over 3rd time starts seems like running on 3 cylinders for around 15 secs then fine go for drive all ok leave to cool down same thing .so thought glow plugs got some all went well but cant get number 4 to budge stuck fast left to soak in diesel , thought would give a go with the 3 new ones still the same would that make sense with one old still in place, must admit not that clued up on diesel engines its a 1999 model non turbo . any help please paul is a 1800 no frills engine
