    Stale petrol

I park mine up for winter with just the occasional start and if possible run to keep things ok. I just leave it as is, if the tank is full so be it, if nearly empty so be it. Never a problem restarting due to stale petrol. The last "won't start" problem this spring was after a run and a bit of a clean inside the next time I tried to start it dead! Battery finally given up the ghost? Put on charge tried again, no problem. Culprit? The driver! He had accidentally knocked the dashboard light switch to "on" so the battery has slowly run down. I would say that battery condition is more likely to cause problems after a lay up, ignoring driver error of course. Oh, I agree DRIVE IT MORE !! Oops! Now I've opened another old debate topic . . . 😱
  2. Beg to differ but Centurian (?) do offer a version. The reel can be mounted in virtually any direction . A bit fiddly to fit but do work fine. I have a set on mine there are no problems with them.
  3. My mum used to start making the Xmas cake the first week-end after the 5th November. Needed to be left to mature before the almond paste was added then again before icing. Yes I did eat the icing. ☺️ Some years ago after a visit home in spring I returned with some left over cake. Took it to the saw mill where I was working at the time and offered it to fellow workers. Funny when I explained that was made 6 months or so before they seemed reluctant (unwilling) to try it, don't know why. πŸ™„ Oh for the good old days!
  4. OK! so it would look better if you did work on the body. BUT you won't see that from the drivers seat, leave it for the time being. Make sure it starts, runs and stops then as everyone says drive it. This must be the first thread where all replies agree on what to do ! πŸ˜€
  5. I agree, drive it to get used to it and you will gradually get the feel of what to look at. Give it a thorough service if you have doubts about when jobs were done. I know we would all love to see some photos
  6. When I worked in the timber industry we used the same tech to check the level of humidity in wood. The tester bit had 2 sharp prongs and was hammer shaped and quite heavy. You gave the wood a good whack with it so it fixed itself then plugged in the meter. I'm not suggesting anyone whack their fluid reservoirs, just saying the method works. πŸ”¨
  7. You'll soon get use to thread drift, it happens all the time - put it down to the fact that some of us are a bit old and can't concentrate for too long on one subject. Don't worry though it usually gets back on line - just give it a kick if necessary. 😁
  8. Bang on, here at any rate in the UK it is only 11/50. Sorry I blame the heat
  9. Not heard of this one, are you saying make the area your foot makes contact with on the pedal larger? Interesting idea, the feel through your foot would / could be different and would / might / should lead you to press harder? Is there room though? I have on odd times ended up pressing both brake and accelerator pedals together. To prevent this I try and wear narrow shoes 😊 I will get out my tape measure and do a bit of head scratching.
  10. I'm the one on the left eating the ice cream 🍦
  11. No, can of worms is mechanical fan versus electric. I'll throw my bit in straight away. Having just got back from 2 days driving in mid to high 30s the temperature needle remained for the vast part of the journey in its' usual position, a tad over to the red from vertical. It did venture a bit closer to red on a couple of occasions, stopped for a short while. I didn't spend much time in traffic jams either. I have upgraded mine from the metal 4 blade fan to the 'hot climate export' plastic 7 bladed item. Absolutely essential here in Normandy! πŸ˜…
  12. That's the first description of the plug thread I have understood πŸ™„
  13. It would make a great partner for my convertible
  14. Servo or not servo? Oh dear! Now you've done it. You'll get PLENTY of replies on that question. If I am correct they were offered on certain models as an option. Mine doesn't have one I just have to remember to press hard. πŸ˜…
  15. A bit late with a welcome (I have been out driving mine for the last 2 days) but "welcome to the mad house" by now you have been swamped by replies, hopefully some if not all your current questions have been answered. Nice choice of colour by the way, but i'm biased.
  16. I got back about 1 1/2 hours ago from shopping for some cheese, took 2 days and 330 miles. Well I also fancied an ice cream and as they always taste better at the seaside . . .
  17. That would mean I had to go into quarantine, merde as we say here. I've got other plans for this week. Fingers crossed if it pans out l'll put details on the forum, I don't want to jinx them 🀞
  18. It's been years since my eyesight was 2020. Maybe we'll need hindsight for 2020 . . .
  19. That's spelt . . .. A pair of dinosaurs aren't we?
  20. As always Pete has hit it on the head. But then I'm biased. Do you need the extra power of the vitesse? Only you can decide that. The 13/60 is a very pleasing car to drive.
  21. Plus one more. I know where it sits and the slight movements to either side depending on conditions. If it were to go outside these then I would start to worry.
  22. I agree with Pete (10th Dan) Lewis. The only 'bling' in my 13/60 is the remote control for the electric gates. 🀭

    Gauges.

I don't know about Pete having a bold attack but either he is imagining picture 2 or I have selective eyesight 😎
  24. Or even know what they are πŸ€”
