  1. The text in the ad says it works on "moderate curves" whatever they are. Keep us posted on how it turns out, there will be others that are interested in it. I might be for bumper overriders, but they may not be "moderate" curves.

    LIDL/ALDI TOOLS

Screw top. Which means bottled for the export market. We keep the best stuff here for us 😁 Anyway my doctor recommends I keep off some white wines, which is good as I prefer red. I 've never asked him about red wine and being a good doctor he hasn't raised the point either. If it isn't very good just drink more, after the second bottle it will taste great!

What sort of "French white". It is rather a vague discription. Is it a bottle with a screw cap or a cork? 🍸
  4. Oh dear, there must be a major problem the front nearside tyre is 0.1°C hotter than the rear offside one, plus there is a pressure difference of 0.01 psi! I can live without knowing that, so can the car. When checking tyre pressures are we certain that we inflate them to exactly the same pressure, I don't have a pressure gauge certified to be correct to 1/10th of a psi. I don't have any hair that isn't already grey, including my beard! I will have to think of something else for my Xmas list. 📝
  5. If you have any doubts about the state of the cooling system I would completely drain the system, flush through with water under pressure, including the heater, with a hose pipe. I found the hose was a good fit to the heater pipe so I could blast it all through. Flush radiator, of course. I also used a flushing product, can't remember which, following the instructions before a refill with coolant. The products aren't expensive, doesn't take too much time but does give peace of mind.
  6. Just like with some journeys, the getting there is as interesting as the destination. Most threads here take the 'scenic' route to get there....
  7. Mine did the opposite of seize, it would open too easily. After giving the engine a bit of a clean one day I went for a drive not realising the drain tap had been caught by the cleaning cloth and was slightly open, I had to stop off at a roadside bar and get water ( honest) to top up the cooling system to get me home. I replaced it with a plug soon after that.
  8. It would help no doubt, if you use it elsewhere it is worth trying but to buy it just for the rubbers - not sure the cost/benefit is in your favour. I think I used it on the rubbers as well, as much to make them look pretty as anything else. I can't say if it made them waterproof or not as it never rains during the day here in Normandy 🌂
  9. I have used Owatrol on the hood, cover for the hood stowage well, dash and other plastic on my 13/60 and it was very effective. It brought the colour back up nicely and gives a good protection - especially the hood against moisture. Unfortunately the plastic extension split and the product went solid. Next season I would be very tempted to buy it again or try the Auto Glym product as it doesn't have the same type of container.
  10. My Skoda won't start unless the clutch pedal is depressed. If the aim is to prevent a car from starting if it is in gear a simple cut out with light and warning would do the job. All these modern 'aids' ! The one I'm waiting for is driverless. That way I can send the car to the supermarket to do the shopping while I stay in bed

    Courier

I was reading the Courier magazine, as one does, and on the 13/60 page came across the bit about having a lot of brake pedal travel after fitting new calipers/seals and the tip to cure it. I replaced my caliper assembly last month with new ones complete with pistons and seals, I have the symptoms described in the article. I thought I would wait until they had been run a while to allow them to bed in and if no improvement look into it. The brakes work fine, no air just more travel. I'll try out the tip. Thank you Darren
  12. Like 'The Scottish Play' in a theatre. I'll go outside and turn round 3 times. 😯
  13. I'll be safe after the end of the month as you won't meet EU regulations and therefore won't be allowed here 😱, thanks to Boris
  14. The 6 cylinder set is underpriced because the owners of 6's deserve our sympathy as they don't have the good taste to own a 4 cylinder Triumph. Oops, I had better hide 😜
  15. 70 in the body for someone who is (only) 66, 17 in the head isn't the best IQ to have. Second glass of Irish is needed and damn the colesterol. 🙅
  16. Ditto. Can't the administrator declare this type of content inappropriate and a risk to our mental health? 😱
  17. I have the 155660 from JP fitted to my 13/60, so I am inclined to go along with the possibility that a repair has been done to your sump.
  18. Roger: I'm unlikely to take it over 5000, and only then very occassionaly I prefer to drive it using the torque rather than the bhp. 7000 rpm? does that exist? Maybe its a mythe like 6 am exists 🤣
  19. Now you tell me 😡 I did a manual recalculation to get the figures based on a standard 13/60 diff of 4.11. It does tally 😀 I had already done a calculation in the past based on the limited info in the little hand got the same figures, or close enough. Am I correct in that the engine red lines at 5500 rpm?
  20. You mean the waste gases produced by humans rather than the waste gases from cars?💨
  21. Me included, I've been 'modernised' and bits of me no longer work as they did. 🙄
  22. I don't have that problem, I'll say to Mrs Me ' I'm just going out for drive, be back in time for tea'. When back I say 'I'm back, do you want a cup of tea?' Mrs Me replies ' Oh, have you been out?' I then think, Bu$$er should have stayed out longer 😡
  23. A sixth is also useful 👻
  24. In my case I use a Hamilton's cover, need to get a new one this autumn though, biggest cause of wear to the cover are that the seams come unglued so need regular regluing and our cats ! They love using the car cover to sleep on and strop their claws on when they climb on the car. As for paint damage no real problems but will second the comments about sharp bits on Heralds and the need protect the cover. I leave the windows slightly open in winter (cover is on of course) to aid airing and do try to remove cover on warm sunny days from time to time, I also run the car a little in winter as well.
