  1. Buying goods within the EU in one country for delivery in another EU country shouldn't have caused extra taxes. You should have paid the VAT in the exporting country and no more on arrival. The paperwork might well have shown a price Ex Vat, the VAT and then postage. Before the UK pulled out I bought lots of my spares from Britain, paid the price including UK VAT, postage nothing else. It will be interesting to see what happens now. Rimmers did send out a mailing to confirm that they will continue to ship to the EU. Prices will be ex Vat and any VAT/import taxes should be paid to whoever delivers the parcel. "A suivre" . . . .
  2. Me too. Oh, you meant the oil 😷 I change both oil & filter each year, on the car
  3. Negative earth surely? my '68 model 13/60 is at any rate
  4. Thanks for the extra detail Clive. I looked at the wear again today and it didn't seem as bad as I thought. Maybe I'm being paranoid, at least l know l might have to buy in some shims. I'm not planning to have it checked until spring but at least l have the figures to pass on to the mechanic. Thanks all. I'll let you get back to the original subject πŸ‘
  5. In that case don't let him go to Barnard Castle ( was that the place?)
  6. Thanks to you as well Pete. I'll have to scratch my head over this tomorrow. Monday is the day of the week my brain is least worst!
  7. Thanks Colin, especially for the young man bit, any chance of a clarification as to wear on the outer edge needing more or less shims, please?
  8. Hi Adrian, I see this is your first post so welcome to the forum (you have probably been spying on us anyway). How about a couple of photos of your pride and joy? You clearly have excellent taste, mind you I can't claim to be impartial.
  9. Good afternoon Mr Lewis & Mr Lindsay, I don't want to hijack the thread but just a slight detour, pretty please. Do you have the same laden & unladen figures for a Herald 13/60 by any chance? The wear on all 4 wheels of my 13/60 looks slightly to be more pronounced on the outsides. For the rears would this mean more or less shims? I hope less as otherwise I would need to order some from outside the EU, i.e. Britain. Thanks ever so much, bow, scrape, tug of forelock (well I would if I had any to tuck).
  10. The pump on my 13/60 is like the second of Colin's photos
  11. My 1968 13/60 has a screw on oil filter, original engine
  12. You'll start something now with that. Hope you will be able to handle it πŸ€”
  13. Same question here. Unless it's the thingy that undoes the whatsits
  14. Thank you gentlemen. Je vais dormir moins bΓͺte, as the saying goes. Isn't one of the main points objectives of electronic fuel injection to stop there being too much fuel going in. I really should stick to simple things, low/ no tech . .so where is my dot to dot book?
  15. I'll come clear - I don't know what EGR stands for πŸ˜”
  16. Yes I believe you could buy an aftermarket "upgrade"
  17. Surely the answer to the problem in the mini would have been to turn the engine round so the radiator was at the front like all proper cars. OK I'll get my coat . . πŸ₯΄ About 10 years ago I looked round a local gathering of classics and there was a 'young' owner with what he said was a very early mini. Being much older myself I was able to point out that original minis had sliding windows, a bit of string to open the doors, no heater etc. Plus I remember them being launched. Boy did I suddenly feel old.
  18. With the state of my prostate I would be able to hold even for an overnight delivery
  19. Shouldn't mention this but some years ago my wife brought back some coca leaves, more probably from Peru than Columbia (you couldn't go there at that time). The miners put them into the side of their mouth and the effects helped them cope with the working conditions.
  20. No not there. Modern technology and there is still a glove box, who wears gloves anyway these days. Don't answer that!
  21. Ah, my preferred country of origin for cigars. Takes me back to when I spent a month there to celebrate my 50th birthday. Of course visits to factories was a must. The customs limit for cigars coming back into France was 75. There was no way that was going to happen. I brought back over 300 - my wife made sure they were all in my suitcase! There were no controls at all at Paris, just walked through. Which factory did you work in and what did you do surely not rolling them. My humidor I had 'converted' from a wooden chest, fully lined with cedar. I feel a smoke coming on . . .
  22. Yes, all this technology in cars now. It took me about 3 months to notice that my Yeti hadn't got a CD player, it has other sockets that I'm not even sure what the symbol means. πŸ™„
  23. Pete, thanks already noted that. It might still be beyond me plus the rear needs looking at as well I think.
  24. What do you mean? We are talking Triumphs here what could possibly go wrong
