  1. Well done. OK it took a while but the personal satisfaction must be huge
  2. Thanks Colin, very detailed reply as would be expected from a 5th Dan. I dont need to measure mine now, I did think it was a norrow one, honest. My system seems to work fine but I rarely get stuck in traffic in hot weather. The system has been flushed through, heater made to work also (secondry cooling fan if needed 😁) plus the fan has been replaced by the 7 blade plastic version, which I believe was the 'export option for hot countries' such as Normandy 😅 Having the filler on the side does help filling and looking at the level/state of coolant.
  3. It doesn't look like my 13/60 rad. Mine has the filler on the off side, maybe mine isn't the original I have no idea. It works so I am NOT going to meddle, honest really, I would never touch anything that worked with the intention of making it better, really the very idea . . . 😏 The photo is as the car was bought a number of things have been changed since then, including the heater 'hoses'.
  4. You've got me at it now. They have updated the ariel photo of my place, it must have been taken in the last month or so judging by the state of the crop in the field and where the Triumph is parked. I was out at the time as the Skoda isn't there.
  5. I replaced the warning light in the dial on my 13/60. Straight swap and works fine. The indicator bulbs are the original type.
  6. Getting out and about in mine virtually daily at present. Even got odd looks at the garden centre yesterday as a couple where wondering how I was going to get 6 back of bark into the car. Easy, 3 in boot and 3 on back seat. could have got a 4th in the boot. 😁 Loading a convertible back seat is just so easy, just thought if I had removed the seat I could have got another bag there as well. So that is 8, then there is the front passenger seat. . . NO. Better to do 2 or 3 trips much more fun 😁
  7. I like the idea of 3D printing as there wouldn't be the huge cost of tooling needed. As Vanadium23 said ideas the provoke thought are never daft, usully quite the opposite. I bet there is someone already giving the idea (relatively) serious thought over their coffee.
  8. I thought lubricating, well I think that is what it is for on my 13/60, getting oil in there is another question 🤔
  9. Another vote for checking the mixture. If it is very rich restarting a hot engine becomes very difficult / impossible. Guess how l know 😁
  10. I replaced the pair on my 13/60 a couple of weeks ago as only one was working. They were mixed pair so at some point at least one had already been replaced. I just searched the net for a pair that looked sort of period that had spade connectors. The make were Bolk from Mister Auto here in France. They sound loud enough. I had to cut off the old ones though !
  11. The 'factory option Triumph clothes peg' wasn't available for the Herald, yet another instance of the vitesse being more upmarket 😀
  12. If it is dud wouldn't the temperature gauge read false as well?
  13. It doesn't. It tends to rise to about 1/2 way when driving. If I stop the engine for a short break when I restart it rises above that before settling again once on the road. The stabiliser is quite new and (should I admit it?) electronic.
  14. As on next Monday we are allowed to go as far as a radius of 100kms from home without having to fill in a form, even so you are still outside my zone 😷
  15. I've been following this thread, at a safe distance of course to reduce the risk of getting the virus, and now it is getting interesting. OK so I have a 13/60 with stabilised not Vit. My gauge only reads 3/4 ish when full but by the time the tank gets down to 1/2 the neelde is about correct. I'd like it to be better if possible without having to remove the float assembly. The temp gauge is fine so the regulator works ok. Sorry about this detour round the ringroad . . .
  16. Very good delivery time. Normally it is 7 to 10 days to France, but since "The Virus" :- It has taken 4 weeks for some embroidery threads to arrive in France from the UK. Not for me but for Madame. I'm still waiting for a small pack posted 29th March.
  17. If we're adding half pennies. . . I put 20/50 in the dash pots and have no complaints about how the car runs. But I drive a 13/60 convertible, nuff said!
  18. Another vote for flushing through with a hose. when I sorted mine out it was the valve that was completed blocked so replaced it. Flushing through in both directions cleared out a lot of brown water, once clean comes out connect everything up again and top up the cooling system (you are bound to lose some during the dismanteling) with the heater valve in the open position. The fact you had hot air a while ago might just be a false lead. Mine did that so I thought it had started to work again on its own but it was simply due to the build up of warm air in the unit being blown into the car. It is worth doing as the heater does make a difference, even in my convertible with the hood down. 🌋
  19. You mean because the Herald engine has so much torque you hardly ever need to change gear? 💨
  20. You're just trying to make it easy for me to decide 🤣 That's the item fitted, clearly the photo isn't to scale - sorry about it being so big.
  21. Thanks guys for clearing this up for me. To summarise:- Herald owners weren't as posh as Vitesse/GT6 owners BUT were better drivers and had a better memory - they could remember the gear layout without a diagram. Do I stick to the wooden "Herald" knob or replace with a blank black one. Decisions, decisions. . . .🙄
  22. I'm sure that at least one of you can clear this up for me. The original gear lever knob fitted to a 13/60, which I know was black and spherical, but did it have a design showing the foreward & reverse positions or was it plain? I'm getting confliciting advice. Mine car is fitted with a modern(ish) wooden replacement, which is fine, but I could be tempted to fit the original style if I came across one at a reasonable price. Clearly I wouldn't want to replace one "wrong" item with another "wrong" item. Thanks
  23. Only yesterday I thought about the 2020 catalogue. No idea when mine will arrive in France, the post are only delivering 3 days a week so this needs to be added to delays in the UK. I'm sure April's magazine will be worth the wait, as usual. I'll just have avoid the spoilers on the forum 😁
  24. I thought so. They even gave you a cedar wood splint to light it with, how thoughtful.
  25. Interesting first photo. The cigar is labelled Romeo y Julietta, quite a respectable label - though not one of mine. The tube along side it has a reworked Cohiba band on it - the gold, yellow and black & white. It looks as if it says Cuba on the cigar label it would read Cohiba. The second is clearly a drying shed I've attached a photo of a genuine Cohiba label on a (genuine) Cohiba cigar from my stock
