Clive
It is onl a G meter. Reckon you can download an app to your phone to do exactly the same. Seems to be one for everything....
Colin Lindsay
Really, Clive? A phone - that invention of the Devil - can replace a piece of motoring nostalgia? That's blasphemy.
Pete Lewis
on truck brake tests if the decel manometer gave a poor result you just moved it (on glass suckers) up higher on the windscreen bingo thats better Pete

Never tried driving a phone, so will stick with the car for now; however I've heard that logic used before - why drive a rattly old Triumph when you can drive the latest modern? Haven't yet been able to locate a phone app for compressing coil springs...
Clive
I look at it like the progression from using box spanners to a socket set and ratchet. Plenty of progress has happened, nothing wrong with embracing that. I like my old cars, but I don't like using box spanners (tried that when I was 17, dad had some) and happy to use other modern things to make life easier. My hoist is a 1950's one, but the design hasn't changed.
Colin Lindsay
Box spanners! That takes me back. Do you remember the odd-shaped ones you used to get for bikes? That's a great illustration of what I mean: you can use modern tools all day long, but one of those brings back so many memories.
yorkshire_spam
I still use at least one box spanner.... But that's only because I don't have a 52mm socket/spanner for doing Land Rover hub nuts.
JohnD
I have a Whitworth spanner! ©Whitworth, J. 1841 It's the perfect size and length for turning the engine by hand for, say, valve gapping.
Pete Lewis
always used to weld a old socket in the end of a long spark plug box to convert the box to a 1/2 drive Pete
Colin Lindsay
Found one.... remember these things? Always looked like some kind of Chinese martial arts weapon, liable to take your fingers off as well as your nuts... 😮

Skinned knuckles where mandatory!
