  1. Same here, except i had a Suzuki AP50.Went to the Earls Court bike show to buy a Jama exhaust to make it go 1 mph faster. After that a DT175 trail bike, then a 400 Super dream.About 15 years ago a guy i worked with let me borrow his Kwak ZX750,120mph down the Lightwater bypass. That was the last time i rode a bike, wife and kids got in the way of enjoying life (still and i`m 56). Steve

    UK gone mad

Seen a video today of someone at a Tesco station filling their food waste bin with Petrol.Jeez.. Darwin awards all round. S

    Ironic Timing.

My 2.5 Vitesse does 30mpg at least if the right boot isn,t planted.I`m sure the low gearing and overdrive makes a big difference. S
  4. I have a Radtec one in the Vitesse and a chinese one in the Herald, not really based on cost but Radtec were the only supplier i could find when i converted it in about 2010.Vitesse one was about £450 from memory. S
  5. Blackline as far as I know is a Chinese copy of a Quaife unit. S
  6. May i ask how much Nigel?, I already have a Blackline unit on the shelf. Steve
  7. Well i have a 3:27 in a Vitesse with a saloon box and tuned 2.5 engine,i had the diff rebuilt by Mike Papworth with a stronger carrier(TR7)? Whilst i don`t dump the clutch,it gets driven fairly hard and has tons of torque so high revs not really needed,it gets scary to drive before you get anywhere near top end. The only thing that broke in mine was a driveshaft snapping at the hub end whilst driving, bye bye back wheel and brakes.Drum still attached to the wheel as it departed.I changed to CV shafts. There is a company that will build an LSD into a 3:27 ,but the name escapes me. Steve
  8. Phoenix ones are a terrible fit,had one on my 2.5 Vitesse for a while and ended up selling it on e bay,i was lucky enough to find an original Mike Randal, (Mike the pipe) 6-3-1 for sale so snapped it up,lovely hand made thing with sand bent tubes and proper joints. My 1500 Herald has a 4 into 1 with a 3 inch collector and Vitesse system, manifold bought off e bay years ago, does it make a difference?..no idea. Car is great to drive and quite torquey,it made 93bhp when rollered. Steve
  9. Spacer definitely required, don`t ask how i know this. Steve
  10. I have one on my 1500 Herald, fits absolutely fine,if anything I think it over cools(if thats even a thing) Standard mechanical fan still. Steve
  11. Here: https://www.classiccarstereo.co.uk/product-category/classic-car-stereos/autosound-classic-car-stereo/ No extra bits, mine is the 100 series, has USB but no Bluetooth,i don`t need it.Just an aerial converter for my old stick aerial.(from them as well.) About £220 all in. Steve
  12. I just use an ancient old plug spanner with a yellow plastic cover and T handle and a knuckle joint on the end, works for all plugs on my Herald and Vitesse no problem. Try getting the plugs out of a Merc SL450 V8,you need 3 hands and a springy multi directional spanner.(and i managed to cross thread one the way back in). Steve
  13. I have this one with an original housing and speaker for that almost standard look.
  14. I have a DAB in my Vitesse CV,i use the old analogue telescopic aerial with a DAB converter, mine is mounted in front of the windscreen on the drivers side. Works fine 90% of the time except for some areas where the DAB signal is rubbish. Should say the radio came with a sticky aerial like a heated windscreen element, that was useless. Steve
  15. My 13/60 was the same when i got it back on the road after a 30 year layup by the previous owner.I fitted all new rubber hoses and the carbs were rebuilt but it kept breaking down,i had to disconnect the line in the boot and blow down it which cleared it. I used some tank sealer(name escapes me but i will check)poured in and sloshed around, then left for 4 days to go off.Car has been fine for 8 years so far. S
  16. Not just 2 Landy,s also a 5 litre V8 Jaguar, think about that next time he spouts about a "climate crisis".Went from Tooting where he lives(Tooting has a common) over to Clapham common. Stinking hypocrites all of them.Like one of the founders of Extinction Rebellion who admitted in a radio interview that she drove a diesel car and had just been on holiday to Costa Rica,i`d guess she didn`t go by glider. S
  17. If i had that sort of money going spare,i would spend most of it on booze and women, and then waste the rest. S
  18. Anyone got a spare bucket of money for this TR6? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203557836527?hash=item2f64fe16ef:g:NrkAAOSwxoNgYkXD
  19. Both cars have electric pumps in the boot.I remember on the 2014 RBRR in my Herald,we started losing power under load, really annoying.Ended up replacing pipes on a rainy night near Aberdeen in a layby, using a scissor jack to get underneath, fault turned out to be a 3 inch piece joining 2 copper pipes under the side of the car,it was sucking in air.(we did complete the run). Not too bothered about E10 yet as i only use Shell V Power (£1.48 a Litre, ouch)still E5. Steve
  20. I have noticed spongy braided hose on my Vitesse from the front copper pipe to the filter before the carbs.anyone know what diameter i would need to replace the lot,my cars don`t live at home here so i can`t check easily.MK 1 2.5 Vitesse and 1500 Herald. Steve
  21. And don`t forget the large variation in quality of crap new parts,as i found recently when experimenting with my 13/60 which showed the temp gauge at 3/4 at normal running.(new engine). Testing the resistance of 2 new 108 sensors from different suppliers showed resistances of 880 and 560 ohms, one gave the 3/4 reading, the other shows 1/3 on the gauge, guess which one i left in there. Steve
  22. I turned up outside my 2 daughters school in Ascot in my Vitesse when they were about 13 and 15 ,when the car was in red oxide primer, they nearly died and made me put the roof up before they would get in. Steve
  23. Btw Sleeping beauty was pleased with the result (see pic),i was using one of my grand daughters comics to rest it on 🙂. S
  24. Not 100% sure Chris but i would guess it would be the same issue, just a different bit stuck,Pete will confirm or tell me i am dumb. See the pic below, the plastic arm operated by a Yellow cog on the other side was not rocking, didn`t take anything apart, but just brake cleaner and then silicone spray and free it up.Just don`t gorilla the assembly while it`s out of the case. Steve
  25. In my 1500 Herald with twin HS4 carbs and headwork/cam etc. I have a 4 into 1 manifold which goes into a 3 inch collector,i made a reducer and mated it to a Vitesse system with just one rear back box, sounds nice and raspy but not too loud. Steve
