  1. I thought it was a Mororola 1070X.I have one in my Herald and did have one in my Vitesse until i put one of the DAB ones designed to look old in. Steve
  2. I have a Nextbase one, this is the second one as the first got fried, maybe the Vitesse had a voltage spike?.Something fried it. Steve
  3. My 2.5 Vitesse only ever runs on if i have to put lower than Shell V Power 99 octane fuel in,it hates 95 or 97.Even with additive. Steve
  4. Also chassis strengthening will be required if your upping the power and drivetrain. Steve
  5. Ok I will say it. Come on Kevin,it`s not rocket science. S
  6. I watched the Alfa 155 episode yesterday, bought for £400,5 days of unexpected welding and cambelt and brake valve changed, then realised the whole floor wasn,t attached and it was too much of a w**ker to ever go back on the road . Sold on for £300. Still like the show though. S
  7. I have a Red 10mm Led ignition light due to changing to an electronic speedo and Tacho, that only goes out at about 3k rpm when started. Steve
  8. I just used normal rivets of the right length on my Vitesse, but filed the circumference down enough to fit snugly inside the popper,if they are too proud the cover bit won`t snap on properly. Brass nuts and bolts on my Herald but it was too much of a faff getting hold of the nut whilst trying to tighten them, you need 3 arms. Steve

    Oil filters???

    Too much alcohol?. S
  11. I was lucky in finding a single rail box with o/d in Devon on e bay a few years ago, bought unseen for £120 including the mounting bracket. Aside from changing the oil a few times i have done nothing to it other than use the car, including finishing the 2014 RBRR in the Herald with a 1300 engine then, now in the Herald with a 1500.20k miles so far and it`s quiet, changes gear nicely and the o/d works perfectly. 12. You need to get an A frame so you can take the Vitesse to the seaside as well. S

    Oil filters???

Just my twopenneth... I had a new 1500 engine built at vast expense recently, when it came back after running about 6 hours on rollers to break it in,it had a note on the dash saying: "Spin the engine over with no choke for 30 secs to get oil pressure up". It had a cheapo filter on it,I have used Mann 719/29 on all my 4 pots with excellent results,i changed the filter to one, instant oil pressure on startup and no apparent drain back.I will stick with it,all you need is a thread adapter.(and decent oil). Steve
  14. If it is,it`s rare or possibly unique. If rain is coming in your not going fast enough as i said on another thread. Steve
  15. Mine sits along the very front edge so closes the gap you are seeing on yours, flush with the front face of the windscreen surround.
  16. See attached pic,not great but it gives you an idea, yes it is a Honeybourne. Steve
  17. On the front lip seal thing, had a look at mine, there is a rectangular foam/rubber seal along the front edge that would sit on the top of the windscreen frame flush with the front face.Probably 1/2 inch thick. Steve
  18. Seen the one on e bay at present..£380?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324625761339?hash=item4b9534043b%3Ag%3AJycAAOSwlhNgoByk&LH_ItemCondition=3000 S
  19. Mine isn`t shiny like that one,it`s textured, like vinyl. But i`m sure there is a front trim or seal. Steve
  20. The front lip of that top looks weird to me,i`m going to my lockup later so i will take a pic of mine. Steve
  21. I bought one from e bay years ago, went down to Bournemouth from Surrey in my Vitesse and drove home with it on.That`s the only time it was on the car. Just never bothered again and use the hood if absolutely necessary, even on the RBRR 2012 in October when it was p`ing down and freezing i just used the hood. It now hangs from my garage rafters on bungy straps gathering dust.
  22. Good programme, noticed Chris Allen as well.Wasn`t aware Sir John Black was a veteran of Gallipoli and Ypres either. Steve
  23. I have a 13 plate 1.8 TSi petrol Passat with only 50k on it,engine is fine but the 2 times it left me stranded in London were the ancillaries, first time the clutch slave split peeing out all the fluid, then 2 weeks ago the water pump housing split ejecting all the coolant. Both times the plastic housings failed.Modern crap. Water pump cost me £780 to get fixed. Steve
  24. That`s interesting as i bought a 3:63 diff from a Spitfire race car a few years ago,guy called Steve Adams, that has red oil in it,always wondered what it was.. Steve
