  1. It doesn`t have a feed problem Pete, its extensively upgraded and tuned, the roller rockers need more feed than the original design can supply, hence the addition. Putting miles on it will tell me if it causes problems but i doubt it will with good oil and regular changes.. Steve
  2. Did a Wales tour years ago in my Vitesse, loved it up in the hills and valleys. Out and about in my Vitesse today around Windsor Great Park/Maidenhead,2 degrees out, lovely. Then back home for a WGP Venison sausage sandwich.Perfect. Steve
  3. My tuned 1500 Herald has one, with a restrictor,it has Goodparts roller rockers which need the extra feed.It also has an uprated pump. I use Valvoline VR 1 oil and so far so good.(and no smoke). Steve

  5. Anyone remember the plaster cast models sold by the club?, must have been the eighties, you could have them in your choice of colour or blank,i have an unpainted Vitesse one in my shed as well. (can you tell, all my car stuff gets relegated to the shed by er indoors). Steve
  6. I have a light blue one of those in my shed as a shelf ornament,no box though, can`t even remember where i got it. Steve
  7. I had the same cover on my Vitesse which resulted in a ding on the front. Now replaced with an SAH cover. Steve

    Oil consumption

Thanks Pete,i still have half a stick of them left, got to try and get it out without getting bits in the gallery as it sits flush with the block. Steve

    Oil consumption

I seem to have leaks at present from the oil gallery plugs on the nearside,at least 3 are leaking and also the big alloy one above the filter,The 2.5 engine has only done about 15 thousand miles since a rebuild. I nipped up the gallery plugs but the one above the filter will have to come out and be replaced as is one of the blank ones that come on a stick of 6 or 9. Steve

    Oil consumption

I am convinced my Vitesse has lasted so well since i bought it in 1985 because the underside has been liberally coated with oil, especially when i seriously over filled the gearbox once and it expelled most of it. Steve
  11. Thought i had deja vu about it,a search on here didn`t turn up anything,so i posted.Doh S
  12. Anyone seen this short programme on Talking Pictures?,saw it last night. Great period film about the Laycock factory in Sheffield, fitting and testing the effect on fuel consumption of an O/D.Mainly an MGB but there was a shot of a White MK 2 Vitesse CV and various other cars being tested.Think it was filmed in 1968. Also great shots of nearly empty motorways. Steve
  13. I have a matching set of Italian triple 40`s in the shed, bought years ago for £250,was going to fit them to my 2.5 Vitesse, but with the HS6`s on it it makes really good power and torque so never bothered. Steve
  14. My SU`s just overflow on to the exhaust manifold,or they did before i fitted heat shields, now fuel drips onto the side valances. S
  15. E Bay shop below: https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/lemansr?_trksid=p2047675.l2563 They wound up the Jigsaw business due to ill health, then his wife Jo sadly passed away. Steve
  16. Not sure if he re-started the business but he is selling stuff off with the seller name Le mans R on e bay. Steve
  17. Moulded every time,a much better fit, especially around the gearbox tunnel and footwells, As to suppliers,i thought they all came from Newton Commercials. Steve
  18. Prince Charles said this morning he runs his old Aston on Cheese and White Wine, maybe that`s the future(red for me please). S

    Herald 13/60

    Well I have a 13/60 and a Vitesse,because I like tinkering I put a 2.5 in the Vitesse and a 1500 in the Herald,both have overdrive boxes as well. 13/60 is a nicer drive IMHO,did the 2014 RBRR in it. S

    UK gone mad

Not lighting them but,if you like that sort of thing, look on Youtube for "Le Petomane". The story of a French man called Joseph Pujol, who had a stage act performing wind based comedy. Played by the great Leonard Rossiter and written by Galton and Simpson of Steptoe fame. S
  23. Had a bit of a look online, the 1600 should have a shorter carrier than later ones, also a flat bearing face which yours doesn`t look like it is. What about the length of the slave operating rod?.. Steve
  24. Has the bearing carrier got swapped for one that is too short,i think there are 3 types?.I see you have the short brass type. I could only find an image of a 2 litre one and that looks longer but that would be for a diaphragm clutch. S
  25. This is not an ad,but if it breaks any rules mods feel free to bin it. I may be losing a lockup and might need to move on some stuff i have had for years in the vague thought that i may build something. I have no idea if they would still be desirable or any idea of value. I have: Triple Weber 40DCOE carbs and a three piecce TT manifold kit, manifolds brand new, carbs used, bought from Racestorations 15 years ago. 1300 Big vale ported and flowed head, never fitted to a car. Canleys/Tony Lindsey Dean 244R cam, unused for 1300 engine, not sure if small or large bearing. Very early MK 2 PI engine for reconditioning Mike the Pipe 6-3-1 for a big saloon. Advice appreciated. Steve
