  1. Try Dale at Moordale motors in Potters Bar,40 years of Triumph experience. Steve
  2. On my Vitesse with saloon box and o/d (gearstick switch), i have a 5 amp inline fuse on top of the box tie wrapped to the clutch pipe, been ok for 10 years so far.But i do keep a couple of spare fuses in the glove box. S
  3. Pattern door skins often have a poor profile at the top front where it meets the bonnet curve. Steve
  4. I agree that looks like damage from an impact,and/or dodgy replacement of part of the cross tube. I had the same thing when i rescued my 13/60 in 2012, difference was i knew it had happened because the owner told me. And the old tube was cut off and a new one came with it. Not just an end piece but the whole tube. I did spend a long time getting into the right position before welding.
  5. I was lucky enough to find an original MTP 6-3-1 for my 2.5 Vitesse, that is a thing of beauty.I have a Saloon version knocking about somewhere too. I bit the bullet and took mine to Matt Simpson,ex BTCC who builds race systems at his place near me. He made and fitted a nice stainless system from the manifold back with a single box up under the rear outrigger. Don`t know how much it contributed but the engine made 172Bhp on the dyno and is plenty quick on the road. Moss used to do a fairly decent copy under the Triumphtune name. Not sure now ,only in mild steel though if i remember correctly. Steve
  6. SEM Sunday and Castle Combe Tuesday, sounds like a plan.(spectator only).
  7. I have been offered a Herald 1200 Saloon by a chap who sadly has terminal cancer, possibly with only weeks left. I have a copy of the log book which shows it as Green on a C plate.1147 Engine. I will look at the car this week but i can`t take another one on at present. I believe it was part restored and has been painted. He wants around 2K,i can update when I've seen it. Located in Staines, Middx. Anyone interested?. Steve
  8. Yes it`s the embellishers i have,i will check my lockup this afternoon. Steve
  9. Got a pile of various types of those in my garage, can`t remember where from as i have never had them on a car. S
  10. Can`t find any new brackets online, maybe try Wins for secondhand?. I`ve used them before with good results. Steve https://www.winsinternational.co.uk/
  11. LP923 on my Herald (bought from Clive funnily enough). S
  12. I only use Valvoline VR1 20/50 in my 2 cars, always instant pressure and maintained after a good thrashing. 30 Psi hot tickover and tops out at about 60 Psi at 2500 revs.Zddp is 1400 ppm. Steve
  13. I had mine re-conned by a polishing shop a few years ago,he removed the anodising and polished the scratches out, still look fine five years later. S
  14. I had a bent pushrod in my Vitesse once, caused by the small screw in the rocker shaft falling out causing lack of lubrication to the far rocker which made it heat up and seize. Luckily the screw didn`t end up in the sump. Steve
  15. +1 for this, the Chichester bypass is perfect for a blast,i will be in Hayling next weekend, probably in my Herald. Steve
  16. Hi Alex, I`m in Egham so 10 mins away,i have a modified Herald and Vitesse. If anyone followed the Mike Charlton Spitfire saga on another site, i won`t be viewing any cars for other people, too risky. Steve
  17. I thought it was to up the rev limit before valve bounce occurs, not that any 1500 would reach that without grenading the bottom end. S
  18. XJ6 i believe, i have them on my 2.5 Vitesse. Steve
  19. Hi Steve-from another Steve, I have lived in Egham (5 minutes from Staines) for 25 years and we are now looking to move South as well. I have a Vitesse and a Herald, steering is fine if a little heavy when parking as was said, can`t beat a Straight 6 with Overdrive in my view , although i really like the feel of my 1500 Herald with overdrive. If i had to have only one, probably the Vitesse, only because i have owned it since 1985. Steve
  20. Only use V Power 99 octane E5 in my 2 cars,despite it being north of £2 a litre now!!! S
  21. Normal Diesel in a garage i passed in Hounslow this afternoon, £1.85 a litre. Christ knows what price V Power is for my cars. S
