  1. Hi Casper, Not sure what the cage should look like but I am sure mine is original,I will get a photo of the back of the speaker. Steve
  2. Funnily enough I am just refurbing the one from my Vitesse. S
  3. I got the complete ownership history on my 1968 Vitesse some years ago when the DVLA still provided it. The original owner from 1970 (18 months as a demonstrator) had an unusual name and i managed to track him down and wrote to him, he called me and was delighted it was still on the road. Steve
  4. I don`t, I have enough worry checking the oil pressure gauge. Its got Bosch 3 prong plugs so If they look ok and It`s running well I leave it alone. Pretty good on economy If you don`t have a lead right boot. S
  5. Can`t agree with that,my tuned 2.5 Vitesse putting out 172BHP on 2 x HS6 carbs setup on a rolling road runs great through the range, even on tick over with a TR5 Cam and 10:1CR. Standard dizzy at present but soon to be a 123 Tune. Steve
  6. The reverse on my single rail od box is next to 3rd.20 spline shaft iirc. S
  7. I have the same setup in my 13/60, no issues with twin HS4 or single rail O/D gearbox fitting, I drilled 2 holes in the mounting plate to allow the rubber mount to be fitted to the same plate.Vitesse prop and 1500 with 3:63 diff, good combo. It also has a 4 into 1 manifold and HT starter,no space issues. S
  8. There are a couple of people selling re-chromed overriders on E Bay at present, £50 upwards each, probably cheaper than getting it done. S
  9. Did you know the last house in the village is called Far Corfe...Apparently. S
  10. Just for reference, on my 1500 Herald, I have a Mann filter which has an anti drain valve, but I normally crank it without choke until the light goes out (about 5 seconds), the pressure gauge starts to move up a few seconds after the light goes out. I think the Hi Torque starter helps as it spins over quicker. Steve
  11. Have you tested the circulation around the engine/heater by taking a hose off to see if it comes out both ends? S
  12. That`s exactly what i did on my Vitesse as the Fibreglass one was a terrible fit. S
  13. Then I would build it up,fill it with oil, prime the pump with a drill in the dizzy drive gear hole and go for a start. S
  14. Did it have oil in it or dry?, I would be tempted to put a drop of oil in each bore.If everything was liberally oiled when built it should be ok. S
  15. Or Mick Dolphin and Chic Doig have joined forces. S
  16. I would say for the gearbox, sounds ok if the gears can be selected when the engine is off,has it had regular oil changes or is it noisy?. Clutch would have done well to last 100k miles,my Vitesse only lasted 15K.Pretty straight forward swap.Check the hydraulics at the same time. S
  17. They are supposed to move freely as one end is spring loaded, however I have the same wheel on my Vitesse and the hole was too small and needed fettling. No need to take the wheel off. S
  18. Blackline is Chinese ATB Diff.I have one. S
  19. Sadly some of the new ones are rubbish, I had 2 fail within months on my cars dumping fluid into the drums. S
  20. Where in the South East are you?,I,m in Surrey and use an old school garage that may be able to help with your welding. Steve
  21. Germany has already pushed the date back as they realise the implications for job losses is huge, common sense may break out here but it may be too late. S
  22. Interesting report on the news today that said some older style multi storey car parks could collapse under the extra weight of electric vehicles if they get more common. That`s progress for you. S
  23. I wouldn`t rely on the timing marks, take the plugs out, rotate the engine until NO 1 is at TDC on the compression stroke, put your thumb over the plug hole as it rises and you should feel compression. Then get the rotor arm in the right position, pointing just before no. 1 lead ,then make sure the leads are in the right order on the dissy cap looking anti clockwise. 1-3-4-2. It should run if you have spark and fuel. Steve
  24. Have you got a new pump or the original ? most new ones put out too much pressure, up to 6psi when you only need about 1.5 -2 for SU`s. I believe you can use spacers on the pump mount to relieve the arm a bit giving lower pressure. If you have new floats and Jets (do you mean float valves?) try removing the float lid and closing the valve with your finger and see if you can blow air through it, if not it must be too much fuel pressure. Steve
  25. If you get Triumph code 19, be aware there are 2 variations, an early one which is more creamy and a brighter later one which is more bright White. This is my Herald which is the earlier Creamy one. Steve
