  1. Rimmers only seem to show 366 used across the range canley shown366 as unavailable use 267 these are all shown for herald spit vitesse Gt6 std shockers none were specific to the 1600 which uses the same as every other small chassis Pete
  2. Its a bad idea to collapse any hose to blank it off it will struggle to recover you are crushing the rubber and canvass reinforcing , metal braided would be disaster, just because its done and there tools to do it doesnt make it good. pete
  3. good old triumph, its not in the hardware catalogue but if you search a whole variety of suppliers one pops up with a size .... strangely some greasers are UNF theres no such thing as standard in............. Standard Pete
  4. There is a Motto...............always do the cheap and easy first after you look at the last thing you touched Pete
  5. Richard, plug 133103 and its replacement grease nipple 56935 are 1/8" bsp if that helps Pete
  6. Aidan , its the HT arcing between cap and rota thats wrecked them , nothing to do with the electronics, or coils .......... its the gap !!! the spring has to contact the cap brush , no gaps.. on the replacement bend the spring upwards so it has to be loaded against the cap brush.. get that sorted change the plugs and then think about deeper routed components you can set leccy static with a bulb same as with points ,, small pea bulb from coil neg to earth , turn engine slowly and with ign on the bulb will light as soon as its triggered by impulse or mech points both do the same . check the pulley marks as soon as No1 is approaching TDC you want around 8-10deg btdc. Pete
  7. Hs4 have a 1.5" choke bore throat the HS6 has 1.75" Hs4 has 2 fixings most HS6 have 4 needle valves dont last for ever and look closely at the top float contact if there is the slightest wear ridge its likely to jam the valve and puke fuel Always remove the needle valve and check no floating slivers of rubber hose are not ending up in the back of the needle assy. pete
  8. Just recently there seems a trend in Ngk plugs breaking down at a short life and in patricular when running a bit sooty plugs life and soul of the machine , cheap enough to try a new set but the rotor and cap are stuffed , these you have replaced , the extra gap acts as a spark improver and the plugs may have suffered the earlier pinking wont have helped the plug life do the easy first before you dive into the more difficult deep pocket solutions amd timing static is 10deg. From memory or vac off with a strobe idle under 600 and 29 to 31 at 3000 pete
  9. Never thought of doing this Aussie fashion but you look to be making some good progress pete
  10. Looks to me that the sprung contact has not been up against the cap brush , this makes the spark jump the gap and errodes the centre brush and gives the excessive burn you can see do make sure the riveted sprung blade is tight , it the rivet goes loose the sprung contact becomes Significantly misaligned its again poor aftermarket rota quality I reckon if you can measure the height of the rota contact and the depth of the cap it will show theres been a gap Pete pete
  11. Myself I dont recognise those do you wish to stay original, ?? there are other seats guys fit from a range of cars , MGF or MX5 are the most popular doesnt solve the frame problem but just or the covers you have but an alternative Im sure youve thought about . never used and cant recommend but these have loads of seats http://www.quillertriumph.co.uk/ Pete
  12. The trouble with transmission noise and vibro is where does it come from can you get the car up on stands , support the suspension at near running height and get under safely a old wooden handled screwdriver used as a stethoscope can easily home in on the source of the rumble Transmision noises you can start with the clutch damper springs and centre hub the prop , its uj and telescopic slider, diff pinion bearings , diff case bearings output shaft bearings, or worn or loose crownwheel... how long is the string do check exhaust mounts and possible torque tilt making intererence on the tunnel, the diff front crossmember etc. Sorry not much other than a list of maybe, s
  13. and to add, i wouldnt use a silcon/ slippery type sealer on core plugs they need to 'grip' or they can be pushed out by the coolant pressure
  14. The olive is not a std plumbing size its for an outside diameter of 1/2" 13mm is the closest in metric and Not to be found in many diy stores pete
  15. Jp are good at customer cock ups give them a call or pass them on or buy a Vitesse , luckily its not an expensive fubar pete
  16. 613024K on JP is def a curved strap shown as GT6mk3 Kit so what did you order ?? pete
  17. It may just be wrong part in the parts bin, check what you got is what you ordered then you can have a Tee shirt Pete
  18. you mean they let you put after curfew Pete
  19. you have a kit for Herald /vitesse with a straight check strap most on line sites show straps as GT6 curved 613024 and H & V as 610170 straight so what you have been sent it will restrict opening the rubber stays on the strap and is kept inside the door to cushion the fully open stop. you feed the starp through the catch plate on the door from the inside outward and then connect the clevis pin if you look at your old unit you will see the sprung clips have fractured and fallen off. the oval rubber fits on the A post and seals the hole when the door is closed uses 2 self tap screws Pete
  20. You dont need them if you wear a kilt pete
  21. Doug, I remember it well, Is there a prize ??? pete
  22. make sure the gasket doesnt interfere with the fit of the stat in the recess of the pump hsg, if it overlaps theres a good chance you can bend /crack the new cover it is designed to have a gasket if you want to seal it ...fine dont use something that may blow out of the joint due to the coolant pressure
  23. Wiggle room and align the bottom with a screwdriver Doug youre on the wrong forum again !!!! Ha Pete
  24. the arb will take the roll load of the car so its stronger than you are or your best left foot just dont refit the links till youre all together , you had to take them of the remove the wishbone ..refitting before the spring assy means youre in front of yourself more strong tea required and sit back rather than get wound up Ha !
  25. should get a boat....we /I have drifted again Pete
