  2. we need a Pah Humbug page Ha !!
  3. http://forum.tssc.org.uk/index.php?/topic/2009-toe-in-the-easy-way/ with new tyres get the tracking checked for front and rear suspension., two planks and a tape measure or spend a fortune for the same result The triumph spec is 150 lbs on each seat so bags of coal /sand or rent a crowd this sets the static ride height fhis is important.
  4. May be its competing with the christmas tree lights and just winking in tune with the festive accounting season did you connect the earth lead to the speedo clamp ??? There should also be a support ring on the back of the speedo to spread the load of the clamps distorting the fibre panel although most get thrown in the bin as a pain, to get it all aligned when you cant see and cant feel what you attempting ...... then need the sticky plasters pete
  5. Whilst LR parts can be very cost effective the Triumph 2000/2500/TR us a direct fitting 7/16 unf stud some can be a fiddle to get the rears in , some will with the shoes off some need a hole in the back plate as for fronts the only may do is the head may foul the machined register on the back of the hub and need a small fettle to enable clear flush seating ofthe head. pete
  6. Changing from wires to solid you will be amazed af the improved handling. There is no difference if they fit a herald etc it will fit vitesse someones got the fact sheet a bit mixed up do contemplate fitting 12mm or 7/16"wheel studs a realy worthwhile upgrade never to shear or strip these pete
  7. You may find that not inserting the seal fully will allow the lip to run on a unworn surface skf make wear sleeves this is a thin tin sleeve you push over the worn jornal and use the same seal do check the breather is not blocked, small split pin in a hole above the n/s output bearing Or get a replacement coupling pete
  8. A dash of something nice in a strong cuppa the breath should help defrost the pinkies pete
  9. Would a real thick gasket raise enough to clear the studs like clives idea of a long bolt pete
  10. https://www.flickr.com/photos/andysbusphotos/5888096063 my Vit6 on 5.5 minilites pete
  11. http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ripaults-bullet-connector-tool-278647035 apart from a collection of bullets and snap connectors get some ripaults pliers Pete
  12. I used fhat tyre size on 5.5 minilites without a problem on my vitesse6 as clive says the offset must suit pete
  13. I cut and used a thick truck mudflap screwed down with self tappers, thick enough to keep the road noise down and floats over the long studs easy if thats an idea pete
  14. Did the same on mh 2000 seats , you can re rivet , use small setcrews and nuts or if it has the wire staple hooks unfold and drill the webbing and refit once I mastered the staple I made a simple wooden drill jig to clamp the web or when you drill it can tangle on the drill bit trial and error on the lengths ,if you make it too long and shorten until you get a good strong pull to insert the hooks, the webbing in the short lengths doenst stretch much , needs to be a firm effort to rehook not so tight you chase the blasted thing all round the workshop or lounge !!
  15. 40 tooth is bigger wheel than 32 tooth so the angular rotation is less on the 40 tooth than the 32 tooth for the same crank gear , dont remember whats on a spitfire but you can mix and match crank gears and wheel boxes to achieve a .ot of variables the rack is a constant pitch so arm rotation angles are not affected by the rack but its travel from the crank gear spigot throw and the teeth on the w box. many racks are well worn often the new is a cut to length univesal fits all just done the 2000 but the hole in the rack end and crank pin were different , needed to ream it out ive found the ebay blades to be the best ive tried over the years and cheap. Theres some posts on here about poor squeegee blades that just make wipers hopeless and expensive pete
  16. Yes there is far more load against the screen with 7mm arms. you need blades with a 7mm bayonet to match ive never found any aero type blades that despite all the twaddle in the ads that will mate with a 7mm bayonet arm and there is not a hook end arm made with a 12mm spline drive end unless you have more luck than I have , tried hard to make up a modern set for the 2000 but they all tend to state suitable but they are not Pete
  17. And dont forget many spanners are designed to a length such that a average pull by a 6 stone weakling or a 18st gorilla will give approx the right toque for the job you dont get that with a ratchet head , its just one length many torque figures were used to tool up unskilled or semi skilled operators to achive a consistent result and repetative quality controls Pete
  18. This prompted me to check the batteries in my little used Snap On lecy unit and I had already removed them but the ones in the endoscope were flat new year resolution ......check out the unused tools , dump old batteries and a wipe of oil after a clean up Happy new year
  19. http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/category/wiper-systems-and-parts/ if you need gears cranks etc or look at different specifications The ebay wiper blades have been the best ive had for years moving from the skinny 5 mm to the 7mm thick arm realy is a good move to load the screen pete
  20. John many years back we trialed with atlas copco a similar kit to use on progressive air wrenches to have one power source and allow controlled diferent torque requirement on the line they were early techy electronic in the 80s 90s but worked fine and size makes them very versatile pete
  21. just make sure they dont use silly unique batteries with little use they go flat can be expensive i have a couple of electronic ones , one has torque to yield possible , but always revert to my calibrated Norbar which i had as a 21st present now its 50 years old still good as new its more important they are calibrated rather than how they work. Pete
  22. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14-15-Stainless-Steel-7mm-Wiper-Blades-Triumph-Stag-2000-2-5Pi-2500-1964-1977-/360510069845?hash=item53f0131c55:m:mW5PDo3E8Cmkrf6mLCXuRQg Cant edit on a tablet but blades from ebay boltonbits arms from vintage car parts pete
  23. httphttps://www.vintagecarparts.co.uk/categories/vintage-car-parts-windscreen-and-wipers//www.ebay.co.uk/itm/14-15-Stainless-Steel-7mm-Wiper-Blades-Triumph-Stag-2000-2-5Pi-2500-1964-1977/360510069845?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D38661%26meid%3D069fd23e179b4158ae6b6d0a1ea67c36%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D221957400246 have had some excellant blades from these ebay guys , great on curved screen, on my 2000 other sizes available, on the vitesse I upgraded to 7 mm abjustable arms so a shorter arm with a longer blade wipes more area.fromm Vintage car parts where you can select width, drive , length to suit anything Used do make sure the rack tubes are clamped on the wheel boxes , and remove arms , stick a card needle on the spline, pull the rack out, turn spline half turn so when refitting rack it runs on the unworn sector of the wheel box gear , to remove some wear /slack a new rack can also help as does loads of grease pete
  24. As the triumph sprocket can fit in 1/4 tooth increments its possiblemto fit it on the cam with the marksm(if it had some) aligned but the cam is 180 out the idea of cam timing checks in most books dont explain all you expect to see I would set the rockers on 7and 8 rocking , and open the rockers on 1and 2 to 40 thou then rotate crank to tdc and check the clearances on 1 and 2 doesnt matter what they are but should both be the same if theres a difference then the sprocket needs indexing to another set of holes and re check each pair of holes gives 1/4tooth, so two sets of holes are available and turn gear over for next two if the timing is miles out then its start from scratch Befors you do anything, use johns thumb over plug hole to determine no1 is on a compression stroke , make sure the rockers 1 and 2 have clearance
  25. when you say rebuild was that the car or the engine ?? was the engine stripped and rebuilt ?? has it run ok in the past .. whats been done to upset cam or ignition timing Pete
