  1. Hi currently upgrading my Vitesse to modern fuse box and sorting PO wiring - Main beam flasher doesnt work and on checking column light switch a cable is missing. Also trying to work out why dipped & main beam work independently to the ignition - I thought the ignition needed to be on before operating dipped & main beams Whilst getting access to the wiring I thought Id try to sort the horn push and try to get it to work as the horn is currently is a separate horn push on the dashboard . The steering wheel is a Springalex boss with a 14" steering wheel . I have a live feed to the horn ring on the steering column but pretty sure the boss doesnt make contact with the horn ring - Am I missing another connecting spring set up that sits on the horn ring and connects to the Springalex boss ? Any help appreciated Paul
  2. Been researching Welders - Is this one ok - appreciate the gas would be expensive but enough to get started then purchase / rent a larger bottle Paul
  3. Thanks for info Paul
  4. I would like to buy one please Paul
  5. I have a Britax sunroof on my Vitesse which is looking tired and is cracking at the rear securing strip . The headlining is ok so purchased a new top cover . purchased from EBay for £65 . Turns out the guy who supplied the roof makes them and sells to the trade is only 10 miles from me . My understanding is the Britax sunroof is interchangeable with the Webasto Paul
  6. Hi , I changed rear ujs, bearings, rotoflexes , polybush, on my Vitesse mk 2 last summer and used the canley system for bearing set up and can recommend this method . Make sure you have plenty and variety of shims. Allow plenty of time as it might take several attempts to achieve the correct tolerance. Don’t compromise and use a diy spring lifter. Initially I tried with a scaffolding pole with strapping but couldn’t get the spring high enough so borrowed one from Pete Lewis and have subsequently purchased one . The biggest job is reassembly and when you are at that stage more than happy to advise how I did it. I did ring Canleys for advice and they said it was the hardest job they have to do and it takes brute force and 2 people . I did manage on my own , though the first one took an age . Since the rebuild my Vitesse has done approx 1000 miles and so far so good Hope this helps Paul
  7. Just started the Fuse Box upgrade on my Vitesse Mk2 - The existing Lucas fuse box had 2 glass fuses rated at 35 amps . There is a further inline fuse behind the dash rated at 25 amps . This will be replaced by an inline blade fuse I've isolated all the ancillaries fitted by PO ie Volt Meter , Alarm , Horn - the horn was wired separately and used a different horn button , Radio , Rear Fog lamp. These will be replaced using the correct colour wiring - currently red . Two fues boxes are now in place - The left hand one is ignition fed and the right hand one is direct feed - The direct feed box has too many terminals and once I know how many connections I will replace so a six or 8 will be swopped over - The direct feed fuse box has a purple wire as an input feed and this is incorrect though is the same position as the original fuse box . I have defaulted all the fuses to 10 amp - Once Ive identified which wire is which they will be correctly rated . No cables were cut or extended , The input feeds had a spade connection soldered to a ring terminal and heat shrinked . Once Ive proved the current fuse boxes are ok I can add the ancillaries . These fuse boxes have a LED warning when a fuse is blown Paul
  8. Yes but is the sleeping bag roll the correct colour ???
  9. Here's another cheap solution - use a sleeping bag roll , place the gearbox cover on the mat and get a perfect sealing gasket Paul
  10. Hi Doug - I did think of that but as already purchased the draught strip it was a case of using what I had - To do the job again I would use Silent Coat to act as a seal as well Paul
  11. I purchased the sealing kit from the Club Shop and IMO it was not worth it - The peel off tape was not effective - To get the tape to seal I used Gorilla Glue - the one you wet then than add the glue - The glue then expands and the seal wont budge - Next time I would visit a carpet shop or find a draught excluder + Gorrila glue - Im another fan of Silent Coat and used it throughout my Vitesse - Brilliant stuff and half the price of Dynamat - Not sure if its been mentioned make a "door" for your gearbox level filler When using Slient Coat - preheat each sheet using an electric heat gun or hairdryer Paul
