    LPG

The by product of Anaerobic digestion, or the natural biodegrading of Waste matter is any of various varieties of Methane. The waste matter produced is a slurry devoid of oxygen which is lethal to plant and animal life. Pete
  5. The "Bangers and Cash" effect?.

    LPG

One of the Biggest issues with Methane fuel from waste. Is it`s High Sulfur content which necessitates it being "scrubbed" before it can be used in I-C engines and or Burnt in Boilers. To bring it to a C-Value acceptable for the National Gas grid it is most often "Sweetened" with Propane.

    LPG

LPG "conversions" are/where very popular with the UK American Vehicle owners, For obvious reasons of fuel cost. It is calculated the the "MPG" is reduced to about 90% of Petrol. But the cost/litre is/was so different as to make it economically viable. A commercial conversion Circa 2003 was estimated to be 2 to 3K on a V8 or V10. Chevy or Ford. Most Issues with incorrect fueling are allegedly linked to the Gas control management system. Pete

    Oil consumption

In "wet sump" vehicles, having the oil level too high can allow the rotating parts to entrain oil mist, increasing oil consumption, often not sufficient to show as "oil smoke". In large marine engines, dry sump, poor scavenging of the sump has been known to fuel crankcase explosion, if a Bearing runs hot. Pete
  9. Looks a neater job than Mine!!. But I fabricated all but the Floor pan from scratch, using a bench vise, angle iron, and hammers on a "sand" bag. 2 - 8x4 sheets of steel!. Not knowing the Bit`s where available. Hence much scruffier, but Strong. Currently having fun repairing Cill`s and fitting those to get alignment with the doors and shut lines. It`s all steel but I am afraid the there could be a lot more filler involved to get a smooth finish!!.😟 Seam Sealer is good?, and should keep any moisture out. P.S. second the idea of putting the rear brake cable in as far as possible before re-uniting the rear tub.👍 Pete
  10. Black is good, The oil leaks don't show? (until they hit the garage floor).☹️ I don't suppose there is actually any "official" colour for Triumph engine parts? I do remember "gold seal" recon engines, painted a nice shade of ???? (Gold!!). Pete
  11. Those are the sorts of figures I am getting locally assuming the resto: (bare shell) goes to them with the "basics" done, Flatted back and ready for full prime and top coat(s). IE; absolute minimum prep; work. Pete

    Ignition Key

"Once upon a time", virtually every piece of "Builders Plant or Farm Equipment" (that HAD a key) used One of only about 10 keys!. The same with 90% of Caravans, the MC series. I once was asked to help another caravaner at a Rally I was marshaling, if I could get him into his caravan as he`d lost the key in the grass. I tried mine, Bingo!, he was in, out of curiosity we tried several `vans and I could open more than half!. We fitted deadlocks to our`s after that. Pete
  13. The US C:R was 8.5:1. From about 1969?. The US went to unleaded a lot earlier that the UK/Europe, and most Manufacturers reduced the C:R on their engines. Pete
  14. A lot of years ago. I had a "Strange noise" on a crossflow Ford, Never really affected the performance or anything. It was only when I decided to do a "De-Coke" (remember them?) that the cause was discovered, Rolling the push rods on a flat surface showed one was slightly bent, rectifying that cured the noise. Often wondered if it was just co-incidence?. Pete

    SpitBitz?

We have family, in that general area, Grand kid`s in Farnborough and Reading (My son Live`s in a Barge on the Kennet and Avon). I am thinking maybe after Xmas. I`ll give them a call, and try and tie in with a Family visit. A screen will travel in the Camper better than by Carrier probably. Pete

    Ignition Key

Just about any Key Place can cut them from a Pattern. Some of the most widely used key series. I have a Biscuit tin part full of keys from that era. Pete

    SpitBitz?

Hi Anyone dealt with SpitBitz. (Finchamstead). They have a Part up for sale on E-Bay (Windscreen). which I will need eventually? Pete
  18. AND, their smaller than the damn things they have me swallow every year or so!.!☹️. Had one for a while, (5M) it failed in the USB fitting, so got binned when The Aldi one came along. Did get it all the way down the Chassis, when it first arrived to see the extent of the "damage". It was just after that it threw in it`s hand. Pete
  19. I have to think about this, So, the water analogy, If you regard the 13V Dynamo output as the Head of Water. The current is the flow rate. If the Basin (Battery) is full, the water will not flow (0amp). If however you drain some water, more water will flow.+ XAmp. You can still measure the head ( Volts, AKA Potential Difference) of water even though no current is flowing. In order to overcome resistance in the Battery (the pipe work) the difference between 12.5 and 13 V creates the means. Simplistic, But is the way I view it. Pete
  20. That`s an issue with me. If I book and save some money, I will almost guarantee something will occur to prevent me going!. (and lose me the nonrefundable cash) I`ve had to stop booking stuff, unless it is an absolute certainty we will make it!. The number of camp ground bookings we had had to cancel because of medical issues alone in the last few years. Pete.
  21. Mine is not as much Fun. It comes in crystal form and is mixed with hot water.☹️. Extremely effective though. Pete
  22. I would check the thread size, as If as it looks, it is 1/2" BSP or even 3/4". Fitting a domestic radiator bleed valve could be an option? Pete
  23. In general terms acetic acid, Vinegar, will not corrode the copper, however it can affect Nickle which is sometimes alloyed with copper. It is probably one of safest cleaning methods, as it will dissolve limescale. Chlorine is more aggressive and will erode copper over time, often the cause of leaks, Pinholes, in old domestic pipework. And should never be used to clean lower grade Stainless Steels. Pete
  24. Looking at the first Photo. I noted what appears to be a brass domestic radiator bleed valve in the top of the Rad?. If I am correct that would be the highest point, and the place to vent air just as you would a domestic radiator?. Pete
  25. Blimey, that takes me back to my "motorcycle" days. Never known them used on Cars,? though I cannot see why not. Every day is a school day. Pete
