  1. Once tried that, never found the nut I was looking for, But an interesting selection of metal of indeterminate origin, that had obviously been "delivered" with the Gravel. Pete
  2. Pete, Whilst I take on board what you say. If you check steam practice, you will find the vast majority of drain cocks etc; all in fact conform to that practice. "Line" valves are different they conform to the "open in line with the pipework" Another controversial issue was the use of what are known as "gate" valves, they where invariably fitted upside own. The reason given was that If the "gate" came off it`s screw, it failed open. Caused many an argument when discussing it in the Bar!. Pete
  3. Time, and shed loads of patience?, move one thing, something else don't align, etc; etc; etc;. Being working on and off of on the 13/60 for over a year now!. And that's before it goes to the paint shop!. Still got an 8mm gap on the driver side cill. Looking at some old pic`s of "our" cars coming from the production line, and even they are less than perfect!. Pete
  4. It isn`t "pull and turn" Or "turn and pull" is it?. I`ve seen that before?. Pete
  5. Talking of "nice" Blue`s. I saw a BMW (5 series? Spit!) yesterday which was a gorgeous "electric" blue slightly deeper than Mathews 2500. More to the point It was pointed out to me By Mrs H, so she obviously "approves". Pete
  6. Pete, The "reasoning" behind that is to ensure the "weight" of the lever holds the cock closed (Gravity). Standard marine practice. "Normally" the lever would be in line with the pipe when open. You don`t need "sea cocks" vibrating open!, nor cooling water valves closing, by themselves. Pete
  7. That`s endemic throughout the "Show" World not just Classic`s. For many years I marshaled at Motor-home,Caravan, and Music shows/festivals. Many are finding the travel costs and setup fees too much especially when you can do 99% online now. And of course it has accelerated due to the recent pandemic. Pete
  8. Whilst I agree. You would be amazed just how basic 50/60`s commercial vehicles actually where. My Thames 5cwt van had a demister element that stuck on the screen with 2 suction pads! and plugged into a socket under the dash!. I drove a Thames 4D flatbed in which we used a Paraffin Sump heater for cab heating, and had only one windscreen wiper on the driver side. All 3 speed boxes with no syncromesh on first. Only one bulb behind the dashboard on that too. The "trafficators" where prone not to work, without a thump on the cab side, OR you used arm signals!!. Which I had to demonstrate to pass the test!. Pete
  9. Interesting topic, NEC, the last time I went I think it was £25-30 (Ish) plus £12 to park. So give or take £40 for the day. For me, a 2+hour drive each way too. I went to the Caravan show a few years back, that was £12 on the door, again parking was £12 too. You do wonder if it`s worth it?. I Note the on the day parking is now £16!. and disabled parking is £12 now. Pete.
  10. Something to do with the two strange triangular windows in both doors?.😁 A Bit like one car I had Air-Con AND a sliding/tilting steel sunroof!. what`s that all about?. Pete
  11. There is on here somewhere a couple posts about fitting alternative fans in the system. Nissan Micra, and Smart Car?. The problem with all heating systems is the fact that once you get it working as good as. The next move is increasing the Matrix CSA which is what is required to improve heat transfer to the air passing over the matrix. Cleaning the Air side, is as important as the water side. Pete Edit:- https://forum.tssc.org.uk/topic/7802-nissan-micro-heater-fan-conversion/?tab=comments#comment-108341
  12. Useless Information; The Hamburg Poitzi. had some in the 60`s/ 70`s. Funniest thing you saw was one going backward, "full ahead" against the Elbe current/tide. We used to stand on the ship deck and watch them🤣. As I understand about the only thing "Triumph" was the engine?. Pete
  13. Google:- Vehicle radiator recoring Brings up 12.4 Million hits, But seriously a whole bunch of firms out there. Pete
  14. A relative of a friend of mine had a similar issue with a SAAB. after a long battle it transpired the dealer he purchased it from, had bought it from a salvage operation, who had recovered the vehicles that where submerged when a Swedish Car carrier ran aground and took water onto the lower car decks. All the cars where supposed to have been scrapped!. Pete

Does sound a bit like something from a 60`s Danish (Ahem) "naughty" film.? One Ship steward had a nice line in 8mm Scandinavian film stock. His other "venture" was Lunch time picture shows in the Crew Mess for the Dockers at 2/- a head. One might say very entrepreneurial?. Pete
  16. I once did that. In a Hatchback!. What I thought was a shallow section of wet Devon road, Wasn't. As I found out when the door seals on a 6 month old Mk3 Escort failed to keep the water out!. The option was to continue. and once back on the "beach", lift the wet carpets and knock out the "grumits" to drain the interior. Result?. Hire car for 4days, whilst the Local Ford agents dried it out, and one very unhappy fleet manager!. Pete
  17. It is the nature of wiring diagrams that they tend to show (say) the arrow to earth without necessarily indicating where said earthing points are!. But if it`s of any use. the Haynes GT6 Mk 3. Wiring diagram:-
  18. Not a Lot!.🤣. But Jeff, Started it!.😁 Pete
  19. Pretty much. The first C-B`s to hit the UK, illegal imports form the USA, caused a couple of near miss accidents, as the frequency used was the same as that used by Radio control models (27mghz). https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=cw+mccall+convoy Spawned the Film with Kris Kristofferson. Ali McGraw was quite tasty. Pete
  20. In effect? Yes. If it`s like my venerable Britool torque wrench, then yes after the "click" the tool is then just a bar! IF however you back it off and tighten then it will click again on
  21. The other mistake some people make is not unloading the torque spanner after use. Ours used to be re-calibrated every few weeks too. If you have 2 torque wrenches it`s worth an occasional check on the same fastener. Crude but it works as a guide. My "big" one goes to 360 lb/ft. For truck work. Pete
  22. So now of course I am now going to have to take the wheel off the 13/60 to satisfy my curiosity, and check the thread, I suspect it will be metric, But the wheel is a good fit? and the splines are correct, So "easysteer" must have have done their homework?. Pete
  23. It`s a nice colour👍, looks almost metallic?. (love those wheels!) Pete

A lot of Modern, and not so modern, Motorcycles with drilled disc`s?. My 1984 "Beemer" for one. One cannot see manufacturers spending extra time and money on machining with no benefit?. The Bean Counters, would veto it!. Pete
  25. That was the object of buying just one can from Club shop👍. Glad I did, `cos SWMBO gave it the 👎. I`ve seen a nice blue on a 2000/2500 Estate on here recently, but don`t know what that colour is?. As I`ve already made some mod`s to the car, PAS and MX5 Seats for starters, so originality is not my primary concern. Just getting a nice usable classic. Pete
