  1. Of course all the Stickers/Plates will be made /printed in China, shipped at great cost, and then Binned!. When new rules are brought in. More Chinese Millionairs👍 Pete
  2. This turned up locally recently, "similar" but not sure what it is?. Nor what it`s based on?. I couldnt speak to the owner, he was having lunch in the pub! Pete.

    Ironic Timing.

Of course you are right. This is not the forum. The main thrust of my "comment" was primarily about the ULEZ-LEZ`s. These are going to improve peoples living conditions?, To quote Jim Royal "My Arse". How is financially crippling thousands of people who currently rely on non compliant vehicles and forcing them to rely on a non existent 24hr transport system going to improve their lives?. It's pure knee-jerk media seeking politics. Nearest City to me is HULL, they currently have created miles of "cycle only" lanes. Net effect? One lane of motor vehicles crawling and stop starting, using more fuel and creating more emissions, and an empty lane alongside which gets you a £90 fine if you use it. If these people had brains they could be dangerous. Pete

I half expected that might upset someone. But the "undeniable truth" is massively over-hyped. by a media with one agenda, to generate income, And at the very least we "sceptics" have seen if not it all, 99% of it before, lets face it only a few years ago we where heading for an Ice Age!. The whole object is making even more money for those already minting Dollars on the backs of those least fortunate. The biggest "con" of all is that if the UK went negative on CO2 tomorrow. China's output alone would negate that inside 24hrs, our pathetic contribution is a pure waste of time and our (tax) resources, which could be put to better use. But you obviously have your own agenda, which in my view you are perfectly entitled to, just as I understand have I. And yes I am, and remain always the ultimate Cynic. PS. I already have my second "ring", in fact I have 4 but they are on my uniform.😀 Pete

    UK gone mad

"Allegedly" the latest devices are now "industry wide compatability". (acording to the latest "mail shot" from my provider). Pete

Have heard most of the "conspiricy" type theories about them, They can be hacked, they shove your Broadband use up etc;. But not that one?. To restrict consumption it would I assume have to be done at the Sub Station?. Which they do anyway with "rolling outages". Pete

Yup!. The one`s on the last of the big US bombers where huge. I Suppose in reality the pressure difference on take off, and on landing, will only differ by the difference in the height of the Airfield above sea level?.

We`ve got digital meters, So the old Magnet trick, no longer works. Allegedly the position of the magnet was critical, as wrongly placed the BILL went up not down!. They are currently badgering me to have a "Smart" Meter fitted. Don`t know if they are a good thing or not?. Pete

Yes, At School (50`s), we where told to take the Aneroid barometer up 2 flights of stairs. And Note the difference in Pressure. (imperial of course, back then). Pete

Plotting Citizen Kahn`s Assassination, Maybe?. Definition of LEZ and ULEZ schemes:- "A method by which the population can be fleeced of more taxation". This being on the understanding that they are assisting in altering some Fairy Tale called Global Warming?. The product of which can be spent on Grandiose schemes designed to enhance the status of the controlling Cadre?. YES. I know I AM the ultimate CYNIC. Pete

Tesla, ( I think) are one step ahead, One of the "proposals" was that reundant/degraded Car batteries can be formed into "packs" for use in domestic "backup" situations?. I don`t know if it ever got off the ground though?. Pete

I can vouch for those too. I`ve had them fitted to my R-V`s for some years now. (High pressure Metal valves) They saved the front N-S wheel once when the temperature sensor went off. and I discovered a dragging front caliper. Cured it before it did permanent damage. I removed a set from a car I sold recently. Maybe put those on the 13/60?. Many alloys go pourous its not that uncommon. Coating the inside does help. GOOD alloy refurbishers tend to do it automatically. Pete.
  15. I had until fairly recently, the most recent clearout saw them finally into the recycling. There are day`s, when watching the news, make one wish they could block "La Manche"!. Pete
  16. Local, "Club" members have a sort of "stable" if you like, which they share, of Testing Stations where the operatives are aware of the correct system(s) for Older vehicles. It a valuable resource to have. Just asking "who does your MOT`s," will get you someone who knows what they are about. Most members are still having MOT`s carried out regarless of regulatory changes. Pete
  17. I have to admit to "panic buying". When the local garge put up a sign saying "no Diesel". I went out and found one with Diesel. and filled up. and both my "modern" and SWMBO`s too. I have bad memories of the "Arab Oil Crisis!". Getting back to Liverpool to join a ship, with all my "Sea Gear", study books Etc: was a nightmare!. Cabin trunks do not endear you to British Rail!, nor to Taxi Drivers!. No one could, or would, rent a Hire car and ours was so low on fuel we`d never have made it. Never mind got wife and kid`s back home!. Pete
  18. Not all plugs, some where indeed made with a Hex Key fitting. They where generally used where a "Head" would have fouled some other part, (more expensive to make). Most of the ones I came across where Tapered, a few turns of PTFE should seal it. Some where shouldered (this could be?) and need a Washer (Fibre or Copper) under the shoulder. Pete
  19. You just beat me to it!. Yes there are formal tests and acreditation. I suspect that is relatively new?. Back in the day the "boss" decided who did the tests!. Now the ministry decide!. Well I guess that`s progress?. Pete
  20. I agree that should be the case?. But as I understand it, as long as you can operate the Emisions testing kit, and read the "MOT Testers Bible", there are no other requirements?. As far as I am aware no formal course or test exists?. Does anyone know different? EDIT:- It would appear I am wrong, there is an acreditation and testing regiem for the UK MOT examiners. Pete
  21. Back in the 80`s. Had to pick up a collegue near Croydon and being based at Guildford, decided to avoid the A25 (no M25 then), so used the road via Ranmore to Dorking, on the way I hit a Pheasant. As I was living in a Caravan near Shere. No use to me, so the "Road Kill" went in to boot and on arrival my collegue put the "remains" in his greenhouse for later use. He phoned me a few days later to say his wife went into the greenhouse to find this "dead" pheasant flying about the place. He laughed, I laughed, but his missus was "not amused". Pete
  22. E10. is widely "advertised" as being OK for vehicles 2011 and later. That said the quality of any "hose" should be checked. The E10 issue is widely overhyped IMV. And in any case, most of "our" car would be better run on Higher octane fuel, which is by and large E5 (and 10p per litre more expensive!), But, hey! that is the new green agenda. Pete
  23. Well , One thing, I now understand where the Estate Fuel Tank fits!. So what happens to the spare wheel?. I agree the B-W. would make a tidy pick up truck?. What do you think?. Pete
  24. Ahh! "pop" rivets. Choice of sizes, and lengths, then colour coded as to shelf life and usage. Bless The UK Aircraft Industry. I have several hundred, all of which where declared as "scrap", having not been used in the time scale. Same applied to the Solid rivets too. Ok for General/home use though. Pete
