  1. That is far more than the last tank of Diesel. I got. (121.9 @ Morrisons) Back in Early July!. (with lockdown we are not buying as regular as we did). So that is some Price increase, in only 6(ish) weeks?. Pete
  2. Alloy.? My guess is Masak. (what we know as "shit" metal back in the day) If I am right the chances of any succesfull "weld" are next to negligable. I would opt for an Adhesive solution.
  3. Those that do come up on a "google" seem to be mostly aimed at Landy`s? But this one caught my eye? https://www.hawkcaralarm.com/catalog/car-van-12v-universal-electric-power-window-kit-for-2-windows Pete
  4. Well If I am wrong "uncle" Pete, will be by soon!. The forum "Font of all knowledge"?👍 Pete
  5. Having read the "blog" on the refurb. I suspect the issue to be that the number of (expensive?) "man hours" that went into it added to by the sophistication of the upgrades is such that the return (financial) demands the asking price?. The problem being that to us "poor" punters it does not represent value?. Back in the 60`s. A certain J Lennon Esq had a Mini "upgraded" for his then wife. The upgrade cost several times the purchase price. I believe that a similar "job" was done at excessive cost by one Peter Sellers for Brit Ekland?. Pete
  6. Have you tried letting go of the handbrake cable?. If the cable is too tightly adjusted it could be causing your issue?. This happens with Fiat Ducato`s. You HAVE to back off the Handbrake, then adjust the Rear Brakes. then you re adjust the handbrake, sounds counter intuitive, but is a fact. Pete
  7. Pretty, And I love the alloys, not everyones taste I know. Matching Scaffolding too? Pete
  8. Hi Took a couple of hours out across lunchtime to day, to have a look at a new and potentially regular meeting at the Nags Head Pub. This is on the A1079, Beverley to Bridlington Road. Not a lot of cars but some interesting ones. Only the one Triumph a Nice Blue GT6 (Mk2?). Few Piccies to wet appetites:- Small , but eclectic? Pete
  9. The cynic in me, Is thinking The amount of "super unlead" they are likely to sell is (relatively) small. So?. Lets make it so much more expensive that they`l all give up, use octane boosters instead, and we can stop selling it altogether and concentrate on "core" market?. After all the "Big Boys" ar`nt going to worry about losing sleep over the (relatively) miniscule "classic" market. Discuss? Pete
  10. My 13/60 has them too, My intention is to Braze them up, it`s obviously a stress point, and brazing is more flexible, and does not have the potential issue of further cracking in the "heat affected zone" either side of a weld. Pete
  11. Colin. Is the Estate chassis basically the same as the Convertible?. If so I ran mine Along the main chassis and the outriggers.?. It turned out to be too short, so was lengthened with more pipe and a Brass coupling. Pete

Chris, There was a VW colour very close to that, used on the Passat range, a Mate of mine had a very similar colour on an early Golf. Nice deep "burgundy" colour in the "flesh". Pete
  13. My 13/60, was first reg 1/1/1971. So that would likely make it a late `70 build. Again "flat" lenses, the condition of which, (one U/s and one needing much TLC.) makes me Assume they are O/E. Pete
  14. Herald Front sidelight/indicator units too have no dedicated Earth, and rely on the fastener to the bodywork, and ultimately the route via the Hood mountings??. All a bit "sussy" to my way of thinking?. Pete

Quote from (1962) The Herald 1200 Owners Manual:- "If further supply is needed, fill up with premium grade fuel unless a low compression cylinder head is fitted". The C-R is quoted as 8:1. (or 8.5:1 where the twin Carb; conversion is fitted. Pete

The last time I had that to consider, BMW RS100 Motorcycle, I had to go 15 Miles, JUST to get super leaded fuel!. So much of the time I ran it on (I think) 97octane from Tesco, And topped up with "Super" as and when I could get it. Bike didn`t seem to mind?. Pete
  17. A 10A fuse should cope with up to 100W. IIRC, most Mains are 60/55`s? So a 5A draw?. I guess 15A would almost be overkill?. Evan allowing for a bit of Surge?. Pete
  18. Hi When I put Driving lights On Stage Rally Cars, I used Fused relays and ran heavy Cable to the Lights. The relays where back up by the Battery Feed/Kill Switch, on the scuttle (battery was in the boot). The theory was IF it shorted under the bonnet during "tree hugging", all the wiring under the hood was dead?. Pete

    Bad Week

That`s why we post our "issues" here?. I`m currently crying over panel gaps on the 13/60😭 It`s a nightmare, ever moving feast!. We need sympathy🙏. Or failing that Absolution?. Or in my case Alcohol rather than tea!!, Break out the "Black Sheep"!!. Pete
  20. Hi My FIL, may he RIP. An old time french polisher, used to steam veneer to get it to fit complex profiles. Held in place by whatever means he could find. Weights, elastic bands, cramps, anything, until dry enough to glue, using the old fashioned "Fish Glues". Finished with "shellac" and wax polish, on Antique furniture, you would not tell it had been ever repaired. Pete
  21. The old "Lucas" workshops used to offer "rewind" service, But I understand they are now part of Halfords?. But there are a few Independant "rewind" firms still going, often "back st" workshops or one man bands. the problem will be getting somone recomendable, I would guess?. A quick Google pulls up one in Bedfordshire and another near St Neots?. Club price High Torque Starters are around £225?. Canley want £55 and a £45 surcharge for what I assume is an Exchange?. (13/60). Pete

According to the paperwork that came with my 13/60. It had a head swap curtesy of club shop back in the 90`s. So either way I don`t have to worry too much, I do however have a low compresssion on one cylinder, so the head`s coming off at some point. One of those job`s for when the shell goes for final paint. IF I ever get the "Shuts" something like!!!. As for "Summer", I Think it was one Wednesday afternoon?. Fingers crossed, "they" are promising a couple of decent days next week, and we are away in the Motorhome, up the North Yorks Moors, at least the pub is only a 100 yard walk. Pete
  23. That`s largely to do with the "sprit" evaporating over time?. Wheras the Oil should`nt. Pete
  24. It`s many years since I had one appart. But from memory I think it is directly attached to the Field Coils?. Repair is not a DIY job I suspect?. Pete
