  1. Which when my son`s where into Dinghy Sailing. Is how we winter stored their "Mirror", on straps under the Garage rafters. Only with a manual 4 Fall Hoist. With it right up tight, just enough room for the High Top Shogun!. Pete

    Offset pedals

Has anyone ever looked at re-locating the pedal boxes?. On the Herald the accelerator is the "organ" type, bolted through the floor, and may be easy to move a little bit?. But moving the brake inward, looks problematic?. Collapsible columns and Air bags are wimpy modern idea`s. Us rough`y tough`y hard old guys, don`t need such comforts!😁
  3. Amen!!. I`ve got two to do ultimately. not looking forward to that!. Taking them apart was,"shall we say" An Interesting exercise?. Pete
  4. I had the 13/60`s out of the garage loft recently, and it looks reasonable. So maybe strip the "Varnish" and see if a good quality Marine varnish will perk it up I think. May try the "Cuddy" lid first, to see?. Pete
  5. I had a short piece of Scrap Brass between the screw and the shaft, Coated with Copperslip. It acted as a Thrust washer too?. Pete
  6. They look Nice, I have MX seats set up to fit to my 13/60. I wanted a bit more height so they are on 20mm box section rails.
  7. Original Herald Owners manual First Edition Jan 1962 (bearing in mind this would likely be Cross Ply`s) Front 19PSI. Rear (2up) 24psi (4Up) 28psi. Pete

I`m stuffed then, I`m more used to 2 pedal cars! nowadays.. Pete

Yep!!. One of the "eccentricities" of the range, Don`t believe I have ever seen a "modification". Pete.

    Oil filters???

So why not just let it idle, for a few seconds rather than giving it instant boot?. The number of people who rev the guts out of engines on startup are not aware of the need to allow the oil film to establish. Like you, I don`t know why there is an issue?. These engines ARE "Old Tech". Treating them as such is likely to be the way forward. IMHO?. Pete

    Oil filters???

"Tinternet" search brings up this:- https://www.oilfilter-crossreference.com/convert/UNI-PART/GFE-150 Might be of use.? Pete
  13. Is that why I have a diff; without a drain plug?. If I want to change it I have to use a Pump. Or. I suppose, be prepared to remove and split the diff?. Or turn the car on it`s side?. Pete
  14. 3 Yorkshire-men?. 🤣. When we had sump heaters, Starting Handles, and often needed a push start!. Or if lucky. you parked facing downhill with wheels turned into the kerb?.👍 Pete
  15. How about :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141008261192 Pete
  16. So. one Lock-down job has been to "Archive" the contents of the Boxes in the Loft. At a rough count. I got to 11,000. Took over 3 weeks, although not actually full time. I had 2 Scanners working onto to 2 Laptops simultaneously. The end result. added to "n" hours of camcorder tape now digitized, fills a 320GB USB hard drive!. (almost). Pete
  17. When I did one, Ford Cortina, I think. Any way Pinto Engine I put the ring in The oven and the flywheel in the fridge. "indoors" was not amused!. But I did point out her contribution to the demise of the ring was equal, if not greater, than mine!. I was at sea 6 months of the year!. Pete
  18. Ohm`s Law:- R(esistance) = Volts(V)/Current(I). Transpose:- I = V/R. Then, 12/1.5 = 8Amps :: 12/3 = 4 Amps :: 6/1.5 = 4Amps. Feeding the 6V, 1.5 Ohm Coil at 12V would virtually double the H-T and burn out over time. However when fed the voltage, as dropped during cranking, which can be as low as 9-10V, for just that short period it produces an enhanced spark but only during startup. During the running phase, The Resistance feed (ballast resister) reduces the 12V to circa 6V at all other times. Which IMV, is the point Pete was making before. Please accept my apologies if this is "granny sucks eggs" to many. But was how it was spelt out to me back when I was the "recipient" of this information!.! Pete
  19. Back when, we had an old gas ring (normally used for the big tea kettle) and used that sometimes on stubborn stuff, it will/would distribute the heat more evenly too. That or the one gallon Blowlamp!. Pete
  20. I know won`t be original. But I rather fancy Finished Stainless?. I have an old S-S Cooker hood that would cut up nicely!. (And boost my recycling cred; with grumbling, grimacing, Greta?🤣) Pete
  21. Is it a cill Repair?. There looks to be a second thickness of steel under the forward section?. Pete
  22. I think "Payen" head gaskets where O/E.?. I do know they where the one`s I used on the Vitesse back in the 80`s? Pete
  23. The whole point, of having ballast resistance is to maximize the available voltage for the coil, when the cranking has reduced this voltage to a very low figure. Often the resistance is the actual wire itself, something much favoured by Ford at one period. Pete
  24. I`d do likewise, But be inclined to use Marine ply. Painted matt black, to help resist moisture. Pete
  25. When I did mine (see earlier pic) I removed the wheel studs altogether and substituted HT bolts nuts and washers. I suspect the wheel studs would not have stood up to the load I had on. And could easily have gone beyond their elastic limit. Might I respectfully suggest that you seriously consider renewing the studs before you re-fit the hub, Breaking an already over-stressed stud(s) in use, could be a recipe for disaster?. Pete
