  1. Got my eye on a Dewalt from Screwfix, however at least the 3 closest outlets have no stock!. The current nearest is over 40 miles away!. Looks like It will be Click and collect and wait while they deliver to the nearest store. OR I can have a Bosch or a Makita from Amazon tomorrow?. Decision time, I suspect!!. Pete
  2. The Information about the use of good quality Resitant hose is necessary. I have had some issues already with E5 fuel, but that is confined to equipment which is infrequently used. The Maker/Supliers advice was to ensure the use of "fresh" fuel. And not to store the device with old/stale fuel in the tank. So far that advice has proved sound and I have had few issues since adopting the advice. Pete
  3. The corded one the "fell over" was an old Draper 600W, which I`ve had since the 90`s. Nice handy size too, easy to use one handed. I may even look out for something similar. They do get most use in the garage, so maybe the "portability" is not quite so urgently necessary. Perhaps wait until the Lidle /Aldi (offers) come back? Pete
  4. I note that Wike`s, are doing a "deal" at this time on Einhell tools. knocks about £20 off a battery pack. but only 20ah batteries?. Machine Mart do them as well. Anyone had experience of them. Allegedly German?. I`ve had (still got) a Corded Aldi one. But the the other was smaller and useful to run the flap wheel. Pete
  5. Re-Boot. My old angle grinder gave up yesterday. Fancy a Cordless one this time. Any recommendations under £100?. Pete
  6. The Bracket is fabricated from 2mm steel. Its not a Particularly complex series of straight bends, With care, time and patience. I suspect it could be re-fabricated?. Pete
  7. Sadly, that is already happening, there has already been local reports of (especially dogs) being left for in excess of 6 to 8 hours. Now that more people are no longer "child minding Schooling" and are going back to the "office". Pete
  8. Or the fact that, it`s too good to cut up/modify if you wanted (say) a convertible?. Pete
  9. Checking the bearing temperature of working rotating machinery, with the back of the hand?. Gear Changing Flat belting on the fly with a large spanner, or a piece of pipe?. Guarding? What`s that when it`s all there? The old Soya, Cocoa, Flour and similar mill`s where lethal places, for the unaware. For Years during and after Apprenticeship, and at sea. I carried a 7" open knife, as a tool. I still have it in the garage, stuck in a panel at the back of the Bench. Pete
  10. My Wife, Used to log all the Radar test results, on a very early DOS versioned Computer. At Marconi, C&C Camberley. She still recons that was the best job she had, they left her alone to do her work, as very few had any idea what she did and how!. Her "commute" car was the Vitesse. Pete
  11. That looks a doddle to fab scrap 12mm plate and studding?. I reckon 30quid tops on flea bay? Retirement beer money?
  12. My guess? is that they had been looking at this?.:- (70`s Camino) Pete
  13. 😁🤣 Yesssssss!. But a big Gas Axe is quicker!. (but then it was a 250.000ton DW? Bulk Carrier). Pete
  14. I hope?, I have over a lifetime, gained just enough "expertise" and experience, to know 3 thing`s 1) Who is bullshitting!!. 2) When not to carry on, but to be sufficiently confident in another`s abilities to make a safe and professional job. 3) When to ask advice!. I guess so far I have got it right, more times than not, or I would not still be here. Some Forums, (on other subject matter) Do have a Forum section where one can post personal recommendations. Pete
  15. Lack of "squirt" is age related Gentlemen. One has to be more careful and get closer, or the shoes get wet. (Something, sadly, to which I can attest!😭) Gone are the "happy" schoolboy day`s of competitive "Squirt" sessions in the outdoor open facilities of the old school. This was after Herman`s Airmen had "modified" it. Pete
  16. It looks like a long term project. Or worth looking at something like a "barn find" and make one of two?. Selling on any unused parts for spares?. For example a quick look on Flea bay brought this up?. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265190404824?hash=item3dbe9472d8:g:8vUAAOSw38NgwHD~ Maybe someone based up in the North West. could take a look?. Pete
  17. I have Both Windows 7 and 10 on a dual boot here. Win7 is working OK apart from a tendancy to drop into overtype without warning. Dosen`t happen on Win10, same machine and keyboard. I have to check and bring Win10 is up to date, so I may go and see if Petes "problem" is showing there. Demands a full "reboot". Pete
  18. I finally resorted to a slitting wheel in my angle grinder. And ground the heads off the Self Tappers. Once they where all removed. The Tub`s could be separated using a "fox" wedge. There will be a seal strip between the two halves which I found to be a very effective as an adhesive!. There are 2 Bolts on the Rear Axle Mounting, (on the Herald) which can be overlooked?. WD40 evaporates quite quickly, hence it`s use as a water dispersant. The Old "Plus Gas" is my "go to" product. But I have used a Diesel and parrafin mix, before to-day. Auto Transmission Fluid is very effective too. The use of Diesel to clean just about anything, in the days before PPE. Is what I blame for my occasional flare up of dermatitis!. I go through Nitrile gloves at an horrendous rate these days. Pete
  19. Always gave me a chuckle, The older ships had passesnger accomodation, a throw back to when much of the Ex-Pat travel involved ship`s. All had Bath`s. On ships with no stabilisation?. AND limited fresh water supply!. Pete
  20. Totally Agree with the foregoing. My experience of the "6"s` Is back to the the ownership of a Vitesse in the 80`s. But all Engines of this era had a tendency to make "Mayo" under cold/cool conditions. We always recomended a good "Italian Tune". Go get it really hot, Good excuse for some "fun"!. Clives advice. re; Oil Cooler thermostat is well worth checking. Overcooling lubricant is as bad as overheating it, It should run at optimium temperature. Go and enjoy, just keep an eye on it for a while. Pete
  21. "Hot Bedding" is (was) a way of life on the North Sea oil rigs. You had your Sleeping bag and pillow and used the vacant bunk. WW2 Sub`s the ratings slung hammocks around the Torpedo`s. I think the practice continued until the advent of the Nukes.? More DIck`s Patch than mine, But one of my line bosses had been a Submariner, Engineer Branch. Pete P.S. Tried to log on from my I-phone earlier, got the login OK. But the Page came up as a "dos" screen.? I thought I was back in the 80`s!. P
  22. I read somehere, that Suzuki, Bike Engines, go nicely into Smart Cars?. Having had a Smart, I can see it would , but handling that sort of power onto the tramac would be "interesting". Having just (well 2 years back and still counting) Refurbed a Herald Chassis. I see a lot of "stiffening" required to cope with much more than the Herald already has. Having had a Vitesse in the 80`s I am aware, just keeping the Plot on the road at times can be "hairy" in standard form. Good Luck.
  23. There ya Go. Wikipedia (American) say`s one thing?. UK T-V say`s another?. Pete
