  1. I have seen spade connection with a ring for putting on behind the knurled bolt that hold the dial in position, if this was missed out you would no longer have its place to go . It could go to any body earth point, you could make another wire to connect if not long enough.
  2. That was my thought, at least change that clamp, its huge.
  3. I supose an olive soldered on would work. Im not going to bother unless i have a problem.
  4. Re Read the small print, just to make sure. You don't want cover thats ok for the quick road side pull over to say your insured to find in an accident it does not cover the full value. If the worst happenes they do find any excuse not to pay. I found out the hard way with a certain company with a red phone, with the clubs one i had a total loss and recovered the money as agreed within two weeks, had bought back the wreck and they paid the recovery to my house! I will say if you intend to buy back make sure it is recovered to your house, negotiating goes better!
  5. Is it the clamp that is in the way or the pipe itself?
  6. My 1500 twice had a problem of not running except at 3000 rpm. First was waxstat leaning the mixture off, the second was when the blanking plug for the servo take off on the manifold unscrewed! Luckily it was on the manifold, stoped at the big roundabout at st.albans .
  7. Just took a look, not the mk4 and 1500. Prices have gone up a bit but not as much as mk3 and below.
  8. They are getting rare now.
  9. No, but have seen a similar inca yellow one on the net.
  10. Is it me are our names on the top now socially distanced!
  11. Go for 82 deg. If too cool 88 if too hot 74.
  12. Another classic beyond my grasp! I was lucky to own two gt6's but these are too high now. Spitfires still seam low by comparison, it must be because i own two!!!
  13. Sound like you have experience! Do you think fire proof foam filler would work? Used sparingly and cut down if needed?
  14. If you know let me know, i have not got a clue. It is connected but what it does i don't know. Maybe an ejector seat!
  15. Its is in some ways promoting classics but,,, misinformation gets circulated quicker, knowledge from older members gets lost . Have you seen some of the youtube clips of our cars, presented as if they have knowledge of the car when clearly they don't to those who do.
  16. I think i will pre nip up the olive, saves it slipping off. I have new hoses and clamps so will leave alone, suspected it would be ok, just wanted to make sure. I will leave the ptfe off unless it leaks. Pete i will put a bit of lube on the threads as its an awkward nut to do up and assistance would help. Thanks everyone 😃
  17. Some good advice here as usual 👍
