  1. That is assuming that whoever has been taking things apart realises And refits or replaces them.
  2. POR15 not suitable as you will have no rust to paint over!
  3. Left hand one looks like a 2000 or 2.5S flywheel. I can get some measurements to match if needed
  4. The steering may be vague with the big wheel. Check they swapped the steering arms as that will make it bad.
  5. I might have one if you are interested in a swap, I could do with a better 3-spoke 2.5S wheel for my 2000.
  6. I wonder if the bonnet has been changed at some point, all the other clues point to the ones made with left over Mk2 bits.
  7. They were certainly using up Mk2 bonnets on early Mk3 as they fitted the alloy pods to cover the round light holes. Nigel, is yours early enough to have the pods?
  8. I am sure all my spare ones are both silver and black. Wonder if PI was silver and S is black?
  9. The last year or 2 of 1500 production were all fitted with 5J rims. The SE dolomite rims are a different offset think. My brothers Dolly had Marina rims on the back I think it was, more outward offset so filled the arches better
  10. Big bore kit all day every day, no contest. makes a big difference.
  11. Now I remember rightly from last week.... the wires go up the near side C pillar, including the wires for the offside rear lights which then go down the offside C pillar.
  12. Those Ebay ones seem suspiciously cheap, very good value if genuine. The Green Spark Company usually have good prices, and they show £3.28 each so almost twice the price.
  13. Forget the novelty and just st bung the box it, that way you find out now what else is worn out in it now rather than after you have shelled out on a replacement mainshaft
  14. There Is a a multi pronged Bosch that is much Better than the NGK, proving very difficult to foul in my PI cars. about £1.50 each I think.
  15. Couple of options, a Luminition one or a Pertronix, or one of the lower cost Accuspark type. Former are a lot more expensive, but seem a lot more reliable. Always carry a spare if you fit the cheaper one. I have been lucky in that my cheapo ones have only failed due to poor fitting.
  16. Lots of modern radios are coded to the ECU so will always work if put into the original car, but won't work in any other car. I think.
  17. Quill shaft extension should be dry. All oil needs to be in the diff, no where else. the metal rang with the number needs to come out I am absolutely sure
  18. Might be best to leave replacementnfor a few months or not bother, MOT guy may not notice, as they will know where to find what they think will be a brand new one in a couple of days.
  19. That act is absolutely useless, scrapyards are still full of nicked scrap metal, Police and others will do nothing about it. At least at work we get the odd member of the local itinerant population every now and then, turning the power back on whilst they are nicking it usually does the trick.. 🙂 Cordless angle grinders have been a boon for metal thieves, perhaps tithe sale of them should be made illegal.
  20. There is a suitable sized bulb and holder for the heater control illumination somewhere on either the Spitfire or more likely a 2000, as I have salvaged a couple from old looms for other people.
  21. Autocorrect got to it, most now-a-days have sunk or been lowered.
  22. That the tyres are original is only relevant if you intend to use it on the road. That car is destined for a museum or another private collection probably. The ride height is correct for a Dolomite, just must have sunk or been lowered I reckon.
  23. There's was a dealer that put lots of cars away that did not sell, or were returned very early in their life. HadHeralds with couple of thousand on the clock, that sort of thing. Wonder if it is the same source?
