  1. Arrived here last week-end, we're going to keep it for a good few days yet. If there is any left then we might let you have some as a friendly gesture. As for convertibles being better anti-covid. I have tried it and so far no bad effects, will repeat the experiment at the weekend to double check 😁
  2. Yes, welcome Martin and as already been said 'the madhouse', 'friendly bunch and a lot of knowledge' and a bit weird into the bargain at times
  3. My friend has got his bits back. He got a call late on Tuesday and collected them yesterday. Neither the company doing them nor my friend wanted to risk one or both departments being confined again. I haven't seen the items yet. My friend is very pleased with the results, after painting they get 3 coats of varnish. He told me over the phone that another Simca Aronde owner had all the trim done over 3 years ago and they still look very good. As a price guide a bumper that didn't need and dents etc. sorted out the price is about 500 Euros rising to 600 if the old chrome is really difficult to remove.
  4. All I can say is that the top one, from memory, looks like the version on my 13/60.

Oh,Oh. How far is it between Luton & Downham Market? You might be saved by the fact that by the time he got there he most likely will have forgotten why he went.

All those cars? A shrink (I can't spell psychiatrist) would have a field day 👨‍⚕️👩‍⚕️

Ah, but how do you get them into Europe in the first place.
  9. Strictly for garden illumination, not road legal as they are RHD. Hang on, I had better check EU regulations on garden lights, halogen bulb use there in . . . .
  10. They work! Now I think I'll use them as garden lights, no lights when full moon, dipped lights when 1/2 moon, full beam when no moon.
  11. Right then, I've found the old sealed beam units and they are genuine Lucas seamed units. I want to test them so have put an old battery on charge. There are 3 spade connectors on the back - 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock. I assume one is dipped, one full and one earth? Or does someone her know different? There are also the shells and rims. Don't know why i should bother testing them they are no use to me -RHD units. Anybody passing can have them 😁
  12. As long as your foot doesn't get stuck to it 😆
  13. Thread size? Well from what has been said above :- Same as radiator drain tap Same as drain plug simple no 🙊
  14. When I got my Herald it had the brass tap type, not the radiator drain type. It had become a little unreliable, easy to catch and open. Went out one day and after a few kilometres car started to overheat, tap was open! Cold water kindly supplied by nearby bistro. I ordered a plug!
  15. I find it odd to exclude pre 1968s. A bad combination of led/bulb and lens is bad whatever the age of car.
  16. Oh, forgot to say that when I took the car for its initial MOT to prove it was ok and get French paperwork the tester was surprised I had them fitted rather than a bit of sticky tape on the lens.
  17. That reminds me, I think I have the headlights from my 13/60 in a box. As part of the purchase deal I got the seller to fit halogens. Not because I wanted halogens but of course I needed LHD versions (car is RHD) Don't even know if they work. NOTE TO SELF: dig them out and test them just to see. . .
  18. If you want an idea of what a 13/60 looks like with Minilite type wheels this was mine when I got it. The wheels are now in store (keep meaning to try and sell them) I prefer the more original look
  19. Here too white wine vinegar is widely used as a descaler, very cheap and comes in 5 litres for that very reason.
  20. Hey, doing all those little adjustments will enable you to get to know and love the car. The initial anguish will disappear soon.
  21. When I took delivery of my Herald the inside of the oil filler cap was the same. I gave it a wipe over and has never reappeared (hell, that's jinxed it) the car hadn't been used properly for ages before I got it.
  22. Aren't our old cars exempt from tolls, or is that trolls, rolls, polls? Yes lockdown is as you say. . .
