  1. Barn find "à la Français". I'l try and get a copy of the magazine when I go shopping later this week.
  2. Yes a very nice example
  3. NOOOO! The weather people always tell us the bad weather is coming in from Britain, but doesn't reach us here in the Orne in what we still call Basse Normandie. We are protected because we are far enough inland and all the rain falls on the coastal areas. Only rains at night, only on the fields that need it so the cows produce plenty of good milk for the cheese and crème fraîche, only on the orchards so we get the apples for the cidre & calvados. But mostly on the Parisians who pester us!
  4. Yes I know what you mean. If only life was simple, you had the choice of cheap & low quality or more expensive and good quality. Now it seems in many cases to be pot luck. I have to admit that so far (head on head) touch wood I've been ok.
  5. I don't know if the 13/60 is the same but I have fitted a 7 blade plastic fan and there are no bushes. I justify the upgrade as the fan was fitted to export models I think to cope with higher temperatures - as I live in Normandy it qualifies 😅 As for suppliers I usually check with all the main ones, not all offer everything, plus postage varies quite a bit as well and can make the total cost of one supplier more competitive than the initial item costs might suggest.
  6. I bet it would even run on snake oil
  7. I don't mind the fact that petrol evaporates/drains back as it allows the engine to spin over and pump oil before firing up, reducing the infamous 'death rattle'. Not using the choke initially so the engine doesn't fire up also helps eliminate the death rattle.
  8. When I got my 13/60 there was some of the fabric covered connected to the pump under the bonnet, when pressed it would become damp from the petrol, i.e. porous. Changed asap!
  9. I have a friend with a Dacia Duster and that will run on it as standard. Another has a Renault Mégane convertible that has had a black box added to enable it to run on it. The law was changed here a while ago to make it legal to modify engines. The main attraction is the price, around 1/3 that of the real stuff
  10. Over here there is a growing tendency for companies to re-relocate back to Europe. Although the costs can be higher to produce the goods transport costs are reduced plus reaction times are much shorter. The companies coming back are those that want to be able to update their product and get the new version/style on the market quickly.
  11. So, if there is a problem with E10 what about the E85 being sold? Or is the 'E' for something else?
  12. i had the same thoughts -" worth a trip down". Actually from her it is what? Point south, second on right?
  13. Yes I agree. Check it out, if in doubt give it a good service and most importantly drive it. Driving will show up what is needs to be done quickly and what can wait a while. Enjoy the experience!
  14. Bit selfish there aren't you Badwolf I could go with that, but not just yet - if it could happen just after I shuffle off . . . .
  15. Maybe the problems with posting to NI are the reason your lady PM is quitting 😉
  16. That is just 1 of the reasons why I think 100% electric is not going to work, let alone the production of electricity. Hydrogen is a possibility I guess - there are one or two cities here testing hydrogen powered busses, I think I even caught a short article a while back about a test on a commuter train. Here nuclear power is the answer for a lot of cars - well not directly, 77% of French electricity comes from nuclear plants therefore a large number of electric cars are nuclear powered. As none of the green/environmental lobby like nuclear power maybe all the electric cars need to be banned. Hang on a minute, I seem to be stick on the roundabout without finding an exit. . . . I'm at an age when my current modern (diesel) will last me out. While I'm wittering on I discovered an hour ago that I have got 10 months younger. checking my drivers licence, issued in 1994 here in France there is an error with my date of birth . . Shall I tell them? NO!
  17. To help see if there is any left you could drop a burning match into the tank. . .🙊
  18. Electronic, bought of the bay. Can't locate paperwork or seller details - sorry.
  19. I dropped one at the back of the dash for the speedo. Spent ages looking for it without success. Months later changing the voltage stabiliser, there it was as obvious as anything!
  20. I'm sure they will give an extra 10hp at least like all the other miracle treatments offered on The Bay 😁
  21. I didn't need the sticky plasters. But the swear box got a few donations!
  22. I had what looks to be the same problem on the passenger side of mine last year. I removed the door handle and window winder, take care with the little fixing pins! Remove the door card and you can get at the button mechanism, mine just needed the nut tightening to get everything back in order. Make sure the button is in the correct position before tightening.
  23. I worked for Racal Defence Electronics years ago, can't tell you about it or would have to kill you 😆, one quality engineer would regularly take samples of screws, bolts and /or nuts and put them in the gutter of his garage to see if they rusted or degraded to confirm if they were to the correct spec. what I will say about the job is that after an interview and before an offer can be made the candidate is subject to investigation for the official secrets act. The day I started my boss told me that when the result of the check on me came back it simply said that I was still covered by it therefore no need to redo it. When telling me this he had a puzzled look on his face, I said nothing. No doubt he went back over my CV and found the job in my past that would have explained it.
  24. A bit cool this morning, 09h30 here 08h30 UK time, roof down but windows up sunny morning so very enjoyable. Treated the car to a big drink of petrol as well while out.
