  1. Thanks for the link ,looks like I’ve purchased the correct 2k thinners , also using cellulose from the club shop Paul
  2. Hi Alex , I did it on my own so keep at it . The springlifter must be at max height and a scissor jack under the link , then to align use a Pointed chisel etc Paul
  3. Hi , this is the way I did , I’m sure there are others , all in all it’s a pig of a job . Good luck Paul
  4. What 2k primer are you using . I’ve just purchased HB Body 989 2k Epoxy Primer based on recommendation from the mig welding forum , are you top coating with 2k or Cellulose. Paul
  5. Welcome to the forum . Reassembling rotoflex assembly is very difficult . Check this forum link and read through the posts and you should find some good advice . Page 2 is where you will find help Paul

    Re Sleeving

I thought my mk2 vitesse HC xxxxx had flat piston heads as when testing for TDC with the plugs out and a screwdriver in I couldn’t detect a dome section . If it is domed would there be a telltale tab in the gasket rear Paul

Thanks Nigel , so my mk2 vitesse HC xxxx has domed pistons ? Paul
  8. Yes I’m interested in the bonding application for my Vitesse , both sides of bonnet where the locking mechanism is are poor . Fibreglass cracks appearing . Bonding in a new stepped section and skimming with filler is now worth investigating Paul

Newbie ? Theres a part finished engine for a GT6 on EBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-GT6-Vitesse-2000-Engine/333668365572? Question 1 the pistons are domed so this engine is from Triumph 2000 ? ME Series ? Question 2 The seller says cost effective route is to resleeve 2 of the pistons , can u Resleeve Paul
  10. Can’t help with the thread gauge other than mine was secondhand from Spitfire Graveyard and was originally from a Spitfire . Here’s a pic of my setup on my Mk2 Vitesse Paul
  11. You should sell your headlining on EBay , it would sell well Paul
  12. Some goodies from Mev Spares for the door refurb . Good prices. Quick delivery , well packaged Paul
  13. Here’s the old throttle spindle from my Vitesse Paul
  14. Progress : the door has been rubbed down and filled , the scratch and surface rust areas treated . I’ve progress from 140 grade up to 400grade wet n dry , Just one coat of primer to see if the surface finish is ok ie covering the remaining surface blemishes . I’m happy with the result so far , a few small areas need more work .Next the remaining areas will be prepared with 400 grade and the next coat of primer will go on . One ? How can you tell if the door skin is original . On mine there is some braze welding at the top seal by the hinge plus the odd small weld on the side Paul
  15. If you opt for the suspension mod remember they are handed . When I purchased mine they were the same and had to be exchanged Paul
  16. Progress: Checking out the inside of the door found surface rust by the window channel and surrounding areas about 6 ins range . Wire brushed and treated with Bilthamber Hydrate 80 , and now Bilthamber Electrolux ( zinc based primer ) Next coat will be spray can black from Toolstation . Final coating for all the inside will be Bilthamber Dynax s50 which has a 360 wand extension . The door base and lower half still has the factory under seal and pretty much intact . Any breaks in the underseal will be filled in by the Dynax . The chrome trim had been removed and the rusty retaining rivets drilled out .Not sure of the spec and where to purchase When I was stripping out the mechanicals there were signs that I wasn’t the first to strip , bolts instead of posidrive screws and no poly sheeting attach to the window base . On clearing out the debris I found small fragments of shattered window . Paul
  17. Hi Dave I can’t find the claw button holder anywhere so probably going to use this mod , painted of course Paul
  18. Good Value towbar on EBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Herald-Vitesse-Watling-tow-bar-kit-PTR18A-complete-as-new-condition/133468410663? Paul
  19. The door is now fully stripped to component parts with the quarter light out and top rivet removed . Next job is to kill the internal rust in the door and add a protective coating using Bilthamber products though not sure which products to use yet The rear window channel has a layer of felt which is passed its best. Any ideas where this can be sourced ? Paul
  20. I have moved to the Huco pull pump which sits alongside the battery in my Vitesse and it’s been a good move . If you consider this as a possibility I’ll dig out the specs and let you know Paul
  21. https://www.gumtree.com/p/car-replacement-parts/hub-caps-for-triumph-herald/1378623552 Ash Hampshire Paul
  22. Nut sliced and cutting , cleaning thread on the way down . Need to check the thread next . Re the top pivot I was going to drill out Paul
  23. Painting , hopefully rubbers are ok as new ones apart from being expensive don’t fit well . I’m going to hacksaw the nut now Paul
  24. Canleys sell the silent channel , the rear channel looks like its felt glued in so no metal framework Paul
  25. Got the QL out in the end. Seen Rarebits FB and channel isn’t there . Replacement will be necessary . If I cannot remove intact the spring assembly on the air conditioning window what are the options. Paul
