  1. Looks like a 14 to the left and I would have said first off that those are 12s to the right, going by the shape, but the mountings look wrong, unless it's just the photo - one up, one down? It will say on them, somewhere - see photo - look on the sides or around the mounting holes. I'll stick with the initial guess; one 14 and two 12s.
  2. The Devil makes work for idle hands.. join the club! As I've said I've used a solid prop on the Estate, and will also use one on the convertible, and can't see any problems.
  3. Not found any so far, thought I had but then realised it's a domed washer for the front bumper.
  4. Unusual choice of car but nice to see! I just don't have room for models, too much space taken up by other things, but with regards to the Herald Front End - a really unusual angle on the car - I have the real thing...
  5. I like mowing the lawn! I just put headphones on, stream something by bluetooth, and forget about all the woes of the world. It's quite therapeutic. I think I sold all my washers when I changed the engine from Mk1 to Mk2; I know I sold the entire manifold fitting kit, clamps, bolts etc but will check in about half an hour when I'm out there, just in case there were ever spares.
  6. Which car, Andrew? I had a strapdrive on the Herald until Pete pointed it out, so replaced it for a solid prop - just a straight swap. The Gt6 has a sliding joint with a grease nipple, but the solid ones are too long and would require to be shortened for it.
  7. I have one on the noticeboard in the garage, in a little plastic bag with a label that says: "Pete says don't forget the 7/16 washer"... now, was it fibre or copper?
  8. Me neither, but I never saw the hoses, just cut with heavy shears in one go. A good clean cut leaves nice tidy edges that don't fray.
  9. You've been in my loft again!! It was the Fairy Liquid as did it. Terrible stuff for metal fatigue.
  10. I almost bought one a few years back, I needed a cheap runabout in a hurry - the power steering wasn't working and the seller told me it was just low fluid and he'd throw in a bottle with the sale... Not sure about Corsas, tho... not easy to steer - round here lots of them went through hedges...
  11. Two sockets and a good vice. The little socket is the same size / smaller than the bush so it will press into the housing; the other socket is bigger than the bush so that it can be pressed out into it.
  12. Nice to see the split pin in the bellhousing! Not many remember to do that these days.
  13. Same as mine right down to the dent. (which is meant to be there!) I was looking for something totally different this morning, and of course found this.
  14. It was Chic Doig I had in mind for the tub repair sections and repair panels, he rebuilt my GT6 Mk1 bodyshell so was the first that came to mind.
  15. I keep my online photos small for easy uploads, so it's all set to jpeg or jpg by default. I don't want to change any settings then find out some work while others don't! I have some older digital photos in TIF and they don't open, or preview, automatically. I have enough problems with writing and word processing programmes not to want to muck up photos as well. Edit: had to go off and check; neither Mac Photos nor Preview even recognises it, but a resizing app called iResize opened it. It's free software I use to condense photos for uploads. I can download free apps from the Apple App Store that are probably better but I'm taking the easy road, as usual.
  16. Lol yes was picturing it back from the pedal in my mind but for some reason thought of it as a plunger ie same as the rear cylinders where the metal end pushes out, and not that it's pushed in... typical! Incidentally one problem I've found this week, whilst trying to adjust the Estate brakes is that the axle lies on the chassis thereby causing additional friction to the brake shoes. It may be the new spring, a proper Estate spring, that's causing the problem. I may have to drop it off the lift and onto axle stands under the hubs or shocks to raise them.
  17. What extension are you using on your photo? Nothing on my Mac will open a .jfif. I'm fairly basic on computers but I just convert mine to jpg and add to the post.
  18. Nice Dolly! I was offered some recently but one was far gone and the other was too expensive for the basket case it really was. That looks to be very solid.
  19. Is it really beyond repair? Finding a shell may be difficult, but there are so many replacement panels these days it might be worth giving repairs a go?
  20. Probably a hacksaw first, to get the front bolts removed - but the rearmost mountings are under the seats, they don't tilt, and if they don't slide it's going to be a difficult job.
  21. Or sandblasting. You would not believe the amount of water that comes out of the drain on my compressor, and sometimes when blasting I can see the moisture spitting onto the bare metal.
  22. That's one's for overdrive, you can see the hole in the shaft, but it's very expensive. Probably quite rare. I wonder how difficult it would be to drill a non-overdrive version, which are usually more common?
  23. As Tony says, some of the more expensive types may have all kinds of abrasives added and the cheaper types might be the best. Anyone want to experiment?
