  1. My 13/60`s are single skinned. I assumed they where as O/E?, as when I took what appeared to be "overplates" off the underneath was just pure "oxide". The replacements are 1.2 mm thick though now. Might account for some of the difficulty getting my cill alignment correct?. Pete
  2. Something of a shortage in my neck of the woods, been waiting near 3 weeks for my local supplier to get back to me with HIS new stock. Next nearest stockist is York, 40+Miles away. Pete
  3. I would humbly suggest that you are correct, especially IF you cannot get to see it before bidding!. I bid blind, back in 2015, and it`s still a work in progress!!. BUT the final price was a surprise even to me. Daft bid, Went to Pub for Sunday Lunch, came back and, out of curiosity had a look to see who had got it. Then had to tell "er indoors" that I was the owner of a 13/60 C-V!!😂. Collected on a Borrowed Trailer, towed behind the Motorhome. But it was definitely a "Kit of Parts", even now I am not entirely sure what is actually in some of the boxes!.😂. Pete
  4. By co-incidence on my way home this a.m, from having the Camper MOT`d, Stopped to fill, and got talking to a bloke I know. He had a Dolomite Engine/Gearbox swap into a Herald some years back? that was a 4 syncro, he said?. Is that Do-able?. Pete
  5. Once reversed up Sutton Bank, 1st would`nt cope, kept stalling. (Mk1 Ford Consul). Pete
  6. Also, out of curiosity?. When aproximately did the factory change from 3 to 4? and in what cars?. I learned early on about "double clutching" to get 1st on the move. Art once learned not forgotten?. Even taught SWMBO, when she learned to drive, Our mini van had no second gear at one point. A "weekend engine swop" with one from the scrappy solved that for a while. Pete
  7. I had to do similar on the 13/60, It now looks "good". But is definitely not "factory". I suspect. even though I took lots of reference data on measurements some of the replacment panels went back slightly out, and a cumulative effect shows the error. Easier to correct on the Cill than try manipulating the Tub and door dimensions at this late stage?. I believe I now have the door/rear wing and bonnet gaps looking something like even and the quarterlight frames are as even as they will go. but still look "low" when seen against the Screen top?, despite being at the max height possible. Pete
  8. Well My current "favourite"was still operational as of April 2021. But reports, that they had a Fire of late.😒 Big Yard loads of cars, reasonable prices. Used the Truck Stop Next door (same owner?) quite a few times. Pete

    Security

I use a similar system to secure the (up and over) garage door, basically a large dia pin which goes through the door into the Jamb. Only used when we are away from the house for a few days or more. Pete
  10. And I had that Blue/White Caravan (Only in green/white) in the middle distance around the same time period. Pete

    Security

Texan Bumper sticker:- "Protected by Smith and Wesson". Snap. Only with father, it was a 3ton truck, and 5 of them pushed, it had to go back into the compound several hundred yards, up a slope, as the payload was HE burst shell`s for the Big Ack-Ack Guns .!. The corporal (Home Guard) had taken it home! on his bike!. The percieved wisdom with that was to "loctite" the Knob onto the Gear Lever. I think I saw one in the garage a few weeks back?. Might be useful for the Triumph?. Pete
  12. One of our neighbours too. Had 3 test`s before a positive one. His "other half" showed up on the first. Yet they both had the same symptom`s?. Weird?. Pete
  13. Tesco Local Diesel 175.9 aU/L 1.68.9 bout an hour ago. Pete
  14. Interesting. The ones that the PO removed, for my 13/60, are currently in storage (Garage Loft). But I will have to look into that when I get to that Point. Are the rear sections OK?. Pete
  15. Sounds like you`ve thrown down the challenge!. You`ll have a long line of GT6 owners outside your "Gaff". Wanting to prove the metal?.😁 Pete
  16. Sorry Mike can` help with a Barrel. Keys, yes. Scrapyards?. Mind, H&SE, has virtually closed all the ones you could wander round, and they where those with the "odd" older car buried in a corner. Pete

    Unleaded head

As Far as I understand it. The percieved wisdom, Is "Do Nothing", adjust the Timing?, and use it. Hardened seats are best left untill the head has to come off anyway. Which is pretty much what has already been said. Lot`s of "snake oil" out in "tinternet land". Having said that I do have the Invoice for a "unleaded" head swap via Club Shop about 1995ish with the paperwork, so someone spent dollop of cash. Pete
  18. Cut a profile to fit the gap, From (say) Hardboard, and G-F & mat to extend?. Pete
  19. I`m watching the Diesel, I still have the M-H to fill after MOT on Saturday I suspect. Damn glad its not the Old Yank ones. Mind we have been close to these prices before If I recall, back a few years?. Pete
  20. I`ve got a box of Old keys, going back to the 1950`s. If you know the blank type, I could look?. Pete
  21. I had reason to go into a small Production Workshop, about 5 or more years back. There, still in use, was a familiar Vertical Turning Mill. Which when I last operated it, in 1964, was even then better that 40+ years old. It having been converted from line shaft drive when it was moved from the Old Factory to the (then) New Factory!. By now it must be better than 100years old!. Pete.
  22. One of the frequent "anomalies" of vehicle wiring, is the need to earth a fitting in order for the circuit to be complete. The exceptions are usually "plastic" /(GRP) bodies where it is neccessary to incorporate an "Earth/Return" cable into the loom. AND THEN, one comes across instances where the supply is permanently live and the circuit completed by switching the Negative/to Earth!. Many Vehicle electrical issues can be down to bad earthing. I find more so since the introduction of "canbus" systems where the signals are so small. Pete.
  23. Should`nt be impossible to fabricate?. I would`nt have thought?. Pete
  24. A Lot will hang on availabily, right price, and spec;, plus how well the current chrome hub caps and embellisers scrub up. They are currently trading at upward of 40quid each on flea bay for undamaged reasonable one`s, when I last looked. Pete
