    Fuel cap vent

This has got me thinking, rare i know. Spitfires have a breather tube through the boot floor. Mine has fuel injection with an electric pump and a return line. I plumbed the return line into the hole that was the breather. Do i now need a vent hole, say in the filler?
  2. I had koni on the rear of my gt6 mk3 and the ride was good. Had spax on a spitfire and it was either hard or bouncy. My current spitfire has gaz and is also good,
  3. Looking very nice. I wish mine looked that good, year long 😀. Now be quick 3 days of summer from tomorrow so get some miles in before it snows
  4. Only if you cut and plate a patch in your tunnel cover. I did mine so i can blead and top up the gearbox from inside without stripping cover off.

    DVLA

The vehicle was used in an armed robbery.

    Car cover

The only plus side of a cover is the uv protection. I know last year my spitfire was outside most of the time and it suffered , being red did not help. Best way is something that covers but does not rest directly on the car.

    DVLA

Looks like you could have a few people knocking on your door when the speeding fines are not paid, worse if that person leaves uses the vehicle for a more serious crime. I have know someone woken by armed police by his bedside, not his actions. Best photo and inform dvla before anything happens.
  8. Looks nice, I did not have the rx8 flywheel, only the puma one. I used oilite bush fitted into the puma flywheel, like the triumph. Thats the problem when you make a custom system, the bushes are cheap and last well. Never see the rx8 flywheel. At the time I was thinking of fitting the rx8 gearbox to the puma engine i could not find anyone who had done that combination, some people must of as there was an adaptor plate on the market. It was rare though as you could pick up the gearboxes for 40 to 60 pounds. Most people were using the ford type 9 gearbox but prices of them were through the roof, gone were the days you could pick them up for 150. As you say fitting Central is important and either type of bearing works. I prefered the bush idea .
  9. Ok, this will probably get me shot down in flames. The puma engine does not normally have one as its front wheel drive, however makeing it rwd with the rx8 gearbox i wanted to put one in. So i got a good size one for the gearbox and drilled the hole the flywheel side. Then to fix it in situ i chemical metalled it in place. Gearbox spins nice and smooth with the clutch in. It only spins against the bush when you use the clutch.
  10. Arr the bore dia, have had fun swaping to give either harder or softer pedal pressure. Stay with standard if standard. Had to go up on the brakes with four pots! Otherwise the travel was too long.
  11. Will have to have a little play next week as back to work tonight, finish monday morning. Have MOT booked for Tuesday morning.
  12. Its more like the first >---/. Got the mrs to be the pump monkey. No bubbles left but its a small container for the fluid for the master cylinder. Meaning we had to stop to top up a few times before it got too low
  13. I have found replacement master cylinders with push rods shorter than standard. Ok if your old one is ok and you can swap but if not where can you get a replacement?
  14. Another run out to test other things. Brakes ok, stopping alot better than before. I will swap to the 1144 when they arrive though as my mileage would mean they probably would never get used otherwise!
  15. Cooled down and only a minor top up, I did give the hoses a good squeeze and top up before going for the run. No leaks now, so thats a bonus. Temp guage held at 3/4 mark to just below it. How is that compaired to others?
  16. If they had supplied the same connector that went into the master cylinder it would have fitted. The fitting was ok for the hose but too small for the slave . The original pipe fitted fine! Just gone back to the car and no leaks. Glad to hear this is normal gear selection! Been ten years since my mk1 so hard to remember. The rx8 gearbox is silky smooth and you can change really quickly.
  17. Chris witter. Sorted now with a washer against the slave cylinder. Bit of a blead. Gear selection better but needs a firm hand. With clutch pedal pressed down there is no creep and i can select any gear. I might be me used to rx8 gearbox in spitfire. Its ok for now but next stage when i remove the gearbox i will replace the clutch and check over the release mechanism.
  18. Checked at tick over, taken for a run. Will check again when cooled down, then top up if required.
  19. The standard hose fitted! Luckily there is a good hydraulic firm in Downham that supplied the hopefully right one.
  20. Changing the old plastic line for a braided one. Only one problem, supplied wrong joiner for the clutch slave. not what you want to find out! watch this space, fingers crossed local factors can sort otherwise i will make a short link pipe. ,
