  1. Pete, if you ever get the chance, drive a Sprint with standard brakes. Take clean underwear with you!
  2. Fitchetts are selling some NOS covers on EBay, what is available changes regularly as they seem to be doing a roaring trade flogging their stash of NOS at the moment.
  3. Some markets got GT6?with 3.27 and OD, Swiss cars?? FD Has square input flange, and output flanges, and maybe small output shafts early on? Would need to check the shafts bit in parts manual
  4. Don't forget you also need the different top remote with the cam for the inhibitor switch and the bracket for the switch. Adaptor plates are scary prices now, try looking for the short one for a J-type on a 3rail small tip mainshaft. A Spit 1500 / Dolly 1500 single rail one may be a alternative.

  6. Not all Pete. Dolomite ( as in original from early 70's before they put engine sizes on the badge) were 10-spline.
  7. Spitfire went to J-type with very last Mk4, I have a Couple of them. TR6 went J-type with the CR cars, so 73. Same with Big Saloons, about 73 I think. My 2 1850 3-rails boxes are WE ones, well one was, it has recently been rebuilt into a spare casing, so is now in a GR overstamped one, which show signs of being a WE before interestingly.
  8. Be careful, Dolomite 1850 3-rail uses same gearset as Mk3 GT6, which is NOT the same as Mk 1/2 Vitesse and GT6.
  9. It will be a reused casing if it has a D-type on it, as it would have had a J-type in a Dolomite.
  10. They came off a 65 Herald 1200 with type 12's on. So should be right. Do you want any more type 12's??
  11. I have a second pair with moving pistons, and a third pair that look about the same as your other one, but one f the pistons did move under air pressure amazingly.
  12. Having been checking calipers, thinking.... they must have been on early uprights. This what you looking for?
  13. 2 calipers stripped. Pistons will polish up nicely. Bleed nipples free. Will send you an SMS message shortly
  14. Ended up spending a couple of hours making a device to push pistons out. Cylinder was a Hyundai one I had on the shelf ( I have No idea where it came from!) And a Triumph clutch pedal, and a lump of 6*2.
  15. I will get the compressor fired up tomorrow and see if the pistons shift.
  16. Did my first few on a work mate, but I can't lift a 4-pot on my own anymore, let alone a 6-pot to turn into over and round to work on it.
  17. Buy yourself an engine stand. Makes life very easy.
  18. Not sure if I fancy picking my compressor up and swilling Jenilite round inside it, it weighs 350kg.
  19. If you get desperate I have a couple of pairs of type 12 out in the garage. No idea what condition but I thunk 1 set was last on the road in mid70s as they came off a Herald I rescued from a garage that had had a heavy front end crash, twice. Don't think the type 12 s matched the tuned engine the guy had fitted.
  20. I thought Lemans as well. There is a long car park at opposite end to where I usually park. Which is the garage end.
  21. A Spitfire is more suitable than a TR6, you can get more luggage in the Spitfire. I ha ve heard stories of very bumpy roads South of the border in Ireland, if true I would be concerned for my low slung exhaust on the TR. Perhaps Colin can confirm the state of roads over the Irish Sea.
  22. TR6 Rear is fraction longer than front, by the thickness of a brake drum to be precise.
