  1. Mk2 2000 and TR6. Assume the former is same as Mk2 Vitesse. got me doubting myself now, need to go look in box of bits.
  2. She emailed me to she had bid on and won a set yesterday. I put 2 and 2 together.... 🙂 Clearly got 5, or is it 6
  3. The manifolds I re-studded used UNC ones. are they UNF on Heralds?
  4. I suspect Nuala has purchased them.
  5. Judging by state of bell housing studs and nuts it looks like that car has sat for many years in damp environment, field or under a tarpaulin. The other core plugs will not be far behind the one you are trying to fix.
  6. The adaptor between gearbox and OD is an inch longer. the picture Johnny posted is of single rail gears and main shaft in a 3 rail casing. A fairly easy swap, and a much stronger setup. Just needs a shorter prop shaft. you can also get an original 3rail j-type in an early 1850, using the shorter main shaft as also fitted to late Mk4 Spitfire. It has the smaller tip bearing.
  7. MG boxes seem to last OK on engine oil. There is a local member who runs engine oil in his single rail Spitfire box. Seems to have been alright.
  8. There is no friction plate. dont balance that I guess.
  9. Studs https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250763211613?hash=item3a62a6f35d:g:IiAAAMXQXZZRdnPN Pack 25 nuts https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131793288731?hash=item1eaf7dfe1b:g:rAQAAOSwYmZXHzy8
  10. If they are same size as big saloon then there is a Volvo equivalent. Tend to be cheaper and much better quality, even aftermarket ones.
  11. Went to get TR out of garage Saturday to give it a wipe over with a damp chamois, started a treat, dip clutch to put it in gear, clock, straight to floor. Ar*e. 4 hours and much bodgery later, having confirmed my fears from last year that the cross shaft pin has failed, I reversed it out if the garage. slave seal had reached end of travel and leaked fluid out. Bodged It by spacing the slave with a couple of nuts so the piston doesn't move so fa r down the bore. Taking the gearbox out can wait for another day. Quick thrash round the lanes, and realised how much I missed the growl of a Triumph 6. Not sure the locals missed it as much... 🙂
  12. I wonder if you could have pulled it bck into place with a G-clamp bit by bit round the outside through the starter hole. herd that being done in the past
  13. Different angles on the brackets I correct, it is due to reduced clearance under Spitfire bonnet for the bigger MC, possibly the dual circuit one. Which yours may be supposed to have.
  14. I would shine a torch in the plug hole and look for piston at the top, will sanity check your findings
  15. 3000 should be nearer 60mph. but is that say the speed o or rev counter are accurate. get a sat nav or GPS speedo on a smartphone.
  16. That radio has VHF, or FM for the youngsters.
  17. Should be in 2 places. One stamped inside rim, which I large letters. other is on outside near centre of rim. will say something like 4.5x13x16
  18. Nuala having been in the garage looking at rims, that appears to be a picture of a narrow slot rim. Will reply to your email when I get a moment. Cheers Colin
  19. Please don't cut your rear alloy bumper in half, try to find 2 halves from where someone else did it. Decent rear bumpers are difficult to find.
  20. If you are kind to it, it will be fine. same internals ( though not ratios) behind a TR7 4-speed. So just remember no "traffic Grand Prix" and definitely no drawing number elevens.
  21. Fit the new pin, and the new shaft bearings in addition to existing ones. Also replace fork end square bearings. take shaft back. Spigot bush is in flywheel, not crank. Did it fall on floor as flywheel came off?
