  1. Some councils here are actually giving residents who want them chickens, not to eat themselves but to eat their waste vegetable matter. A good by product is of course fresh eggs. Living in a rural area farmers are starting to get into the production of 'biomasse' (as it is called here) gas to use as fuel for heating and/or generating electricity. Won't be long now I guess before they start running tractors on it. . . Eat, drink and be merry, tomorrow we die! In there somewhere should also be drive the Triumph
  2. Wouldn't life be simple if there were just 2 options when buying bits :- 1. Cheap & cheerful 2. Quality at a fair price Ah, I feel the pills wearing off and reality kicking in 🤯
  3. As William Shakepenis used to say:- To pee or not to pee, that is the question.
  4. Looked at it but it says "may not post to France" oh well 😆
  5. I think that would domore damage to the cover (and the car) then the cats 😾
  6. Seen that many times in the past, even before climate change became a fashion item, Britain is far too warm for the latitude. No Gulf stream hello penguins on the Thames.🐧
  7. The moment I posted that I knew someone would ask that 😤 Cover
  8. Thanks for putting my mind at ease. Now, is there one to keep my cats off the car cover? They find it great for sleeping on in summer and sharpening their claws, which reminds me I need to get a new one. 🤑
  9. Last year I called in at my local village garage and he was working on a modern VW that had been squatted by mice, masses or rewiring required! When I got home I immediately ordered a sonic mouse scarer, don't know if it does anything but it helps me sleep easier at nights (and during the day to be honest)
  10. I don't use mine much over winter so park it up with the handbrake off and in neutral - a block under a wheel to make sure it doesn't roll. As for filling / emptiying the petrol, I don't do either nor do I disconnect the battery. Before the season I do put it on charge.
  11. Love olives especially stuffed with anchovies, always bring lots of tins back when we go to Spain. Oysters I prefer cooked, raw are ok too. Livings in France snails with (lots of) garlic are fairly common. Contrary to what you might think frogs’ legs aren't on the menu very often but if they are I go for them. The local delicacy is boudin noir (black pudding) nothing like the UK version. All this is making me hungry – let’s get back to the original subject, whatever it is, my waistline will be better off
  12. After several years I've got the hang of it, the 'periph'. The nearside lane is for those leaving at the next junction, the rest for any vehicle that fits in the gap between two vehicles in line 😁. The knack is to work on the assumption that if there is a big enough gap a car will appear from out of nowhere ro fill it. When you understand this it works a treat. I even enjoy roundabouts such as the Arc de Triumphe where it is everyone for themselves, foot to the floor and see who wimps out first. I can now out bluff buses 😄Then of course there are the 2 wheelers that blast along between the lines of traffic, i.e. to the left and right.
  13. There are moderns with a system to alert the driver when the car 'drifts' across white lines if the indicators aren't used
  14. Not jealous at all, not one little bit, completely indifferent, would rather watch paint dry. 😀 Wasn't filmed in my neck of the woods for 3 reasons. 1. New year's day wasn't that sunny. 2. Roof tiles wrong style. 3. 'Crops' in fields not local to me 🍾 I'm waiting for a similar day and permission from the boss to take my 13/60 out to clear the cobwebs - mine & the car's.
  15. I bought one a while ago, most likely on the bay but can't find details. There are loads to choose from. I picked one with an ad for a second car dealer on the back - the ad was for a company called Arthur Daley. a bit of a personal joke as nobody here in France would have heard of him I guess 😁
  16. Oops! As a punishment I promise not to drive my Herald for the rest of the year😂
  17. Yes, the Vitesse was aimed at a more upmarket client. If you only want to wear a tie & flat cap then go down market to a Herald. What am I saying! what would I know I just have a humble 13/60, but it does have the flash!!
  18. Not surprising. The Vitesse has negative earth and just like the current negative comments go to ground 😀
  19. Lucky b*gg£r ! I really should get out more in my Triumph 😃
  20. I have an Accuspark unit in my 13/60, since 2015 and covered close to 8000 miles, it is fitted inside the distributor so still looks 'original'. Works fine & I am happy with it.
  21. Mine has a key less start system, press a button and it starts when it is ready too. To be honest the delay is minimal. As for fuel consumption, my costs have gone down. Diesel is still a little cheaper than petrol here, the Yeti is a 2 ltr about 150 hp and gives results for my normal local driving of 5.2 Litres per 100 Kms, that's how consumption is quoted here X per 100. I reckon that gives about 54 mpg, it's Sunday so my brain gets the day off. My previous 1.6 ltr petrol was using 8.2 lits per 100 kms.
  22. My modern is a Skoda diesel, the first diesel in a long time and boy have they improved. In February I got the particle warning light on, had to look up what it meant! At the time we were on our 3 week thermal cure and the car was only being used for very short runs at low speed. The first trip to the supermarket gave me the chance to give it a bit of a blast to heat it up, nice trail of smoke to start with 😱 but soon cleared. The ad Blue gets topped up once a year just before we go on hols. Demonised? OH YES. Just after buying it diesels were declared enemy N°1. Then the government declared they want to get rid of heating by oil, guess what we use. Followed a week or two ago by some bright spark wanting to up the tax on "SUVs" because they pollute, my Skoda is a Yeti so an SUV I guess. Triple demonised, I'll just keep my head down til it all blows over. . .
