  1. A fellow club member here in Aus worked for a 3D Medical Co which relocated to the US hence he left as he wanted to stay here, but he made a new skull cap in plastic for a Dutch woman which was grafted in, he also made a new heel in metal which was honeycombed so the flesh could grow into it, the chap had his heel removed due to Cancer. My daughter did a research project for a US car co over 10 years ago on the future potential of 3D printing of spare parts at the dealership spare parts desk,
  2. I can tell you my daughters Mk2 is a Porsche Blue colour, it looks somewhere close to the other Spit. Must admit I like the Anthracite wheels! we might have to invest in some powder coating.
  3. A fellow club member has had an issue with his Mk2 Jag it wouldn’t start after Tach issues, he finally determined the problem the spring on the points was bowed and touched the baseplate it took him a couple of weeks to sort it after replacing all but points. Things do come out of left field to bite you!
  4. Agreed very stylish and very functional, side flashers and riding lights in a neat package, forward thinking then they lost it, why.
  5. Re Luminition Optic I had one took it off for the self contained Accuspark unit, which is obviously neater. I gave it to a friend who’s Stag had one fitted and it had failed, then my old unit failed a year or so later he’s on his third unit now. OK it’s been over 20 years! But relatively their expensive.
  6. I run the cheapies from eBay have done over 10 years no issues, BUT I do carry a spare in each of the 2 cars just in case already fitted up ready for a quick roadside change over. I also carry the points set up just in case, but that's just me belt and braces! In the Dolly Sprint I had to use the Luminition Magnetronic due to space issues in the distributor same effect but a lot dearer, hence no spare, but I carry the old points & wiring!.
  7. I’ve found the original old female part of the bullet doesn’t like being squeezed and usually breaks so I’ve brought a stack of new female bullets, single, double, and virtually replaced all the old ones esp under the bonnet. I think the old bullets appear to fail with age. It can’t be due to being pulled apart as that’s onl really done at a rebuild stage Because I put a CV rear end on my Vitesse and trying to feed the bullet fitted wiring loom thro the floor to B post hole was very difficult I cut the loom there fed the bare ended loom thro the hole and soldered on new bullets to each bare end in the rear floor area.
  8. I think non-member is right. I have a Dolly Sprint with similar rear light bulb holder fixtures, originally the holders relied on the earth thro the tail light body, but as one member said the rear lights were like a christmas tree brake lights brought on tail lights etc. I realised it was an earth problem and started soldering on earth fly leads to each holder, when a friend who's had multiple saloons offered me a complete double set (6) holders with earth spades on, I believe it was ex a 2500PI, I fitted them with their own interconnected earth loom to a well earthed bolt with double star washers, hey viola all works well no more light scatter. I shouldn't tempt fate but that was 5 years ago! See if you can find a set of separate spade earthed bulb holders, or solder on earth fly wires to each holder but that's a pain! Doesn't answer the offset bulb lug issue! Good Luck
  9. have you checked the engine and head for built up crud in the coolant passages, has the system been flushed with a cleaner, (could result in a new pump!) a quick indication is to remove the block drain plug if blocked and needs a screwdriver to clear then the coolant passages could be restricted, if it runs free should be OK
  10. I agree Colin, plus re Spit what a faff having to loosen/remove the starter to get to the fuel pump sounds like a modern remove this n that. The Hi torque really spins that engine and using the Isuzu (Holden) Trooper version less than $100.
  11. Colin here's pic's of my original Herald 1200 Convertible Rear Tub an Australian AMI CKD assembled unit from around July 1960's, Comm No. Y15930CV, (916KD), which has been transposed to my Mk2 Vitesse, there's a panel each side but there are no rivited straps, just plain metal. I assume there rhere to protect the conv hood from damage should items in the boot slide forward when the hoot is stowed.
  12. My first car was a Goggomobil T300 which had electric wipers mounted on the bottom of the screen the motor drove one spindle and the other was connected by a bar on the outside when it snowed a lot it used to stack up on the screen and the interconnecting ball jointed bar would spring off. I spent 1/2 hr at 2AM one morning in a bad snow storm on the York Moors coming back from a party at Whitby looking for the interlinking bar that had totally flown off! so even electrics can have built in issues!
  13. I had a similar problem Dave on the Sprint on a club run pulled up and car slew left off the road, then again locally but at faster speed then realized problem was the old rubber hoses locking the front left caliper, replaced with S/S braided nylon hoses no more problems and a great pedal pressure. A friend with a Mk3 GT6, with a similar problem but unfortunately at speed and ran off the road just missed a tree minor damage! Problem is it only happens intermittently & it take a while to realize WHY!
  14. When we returned to England 63 dad had numerous company cars waiting for his Merc300Se to arrive one of these Co loaners was a new Zephyr 6 the boxy one pre big wings it had vacuum wipers bl++dy useless I seem to remember the faster you went the slower they got! yes there was a reservoir in the front wing, PUT me off Fords for a very long time! Subsequently I must admit the Falcon Fairmont Ghia and Tickford's I had as Co Cars here in Oz were great cars fantastic for long distances and the best seats ever!
  15. The 2018 thread indicated above is very informative with good descriptive pictures well worth looking at and salting away in the back of the brain for future use! Marvellous what the TSSC Forum teaches & tells you
  16. PDR ain't a black art but the experts do have a lot of experience and muscles, we have a prominent member of our club who makes a good living from doing it esp car sales incl new vehicles! To watch him do his magic is a pleasure, interestingly his previous job was making new body parts with a 3D printer so he is very patient and gets it right!
  17. No I have a separate small tool chest with special modified tools, ie brake spanner, sump spanner, thinned down ring spanner to fit Sprint carb to manifold nuts, 7/16in socket with thinned down outer end to fit a small space elsewhere on the Sprint, donut compressor to enable them to be fitted without dismantling the rear hub, but no J type spanner!
  18. Thanks Pete. A story here re replacement sealed headlights as you are probably aware we have a club Permit registration system here for classic cars, there is some onus on the club to ensure the car is fit for use when the club officer annually re-approve the Permit. Consequently the club Permit officer's do a random cursory check, lights, tyres, brakes (pedal travel firmness & moisture test), severe oil leaks, corrosion (not an issue normally). When doing the check on a tight fisted member's Stag & who has had tyre age issues in the past (side cracking), we advised rear tail lights were clouded repair or replace, new pedal rubbers, then my mate who was a senior uniformed police officer called me to the front of the car and asked what's wrong with the outer dipped headlights, they looked odd then we twigged the dip pattern was different on the LH & RH lens the RH pointing more vertically. So tools out and removed the lights the little locating lugs on the RH light were correctly spaced so the light fitted in the carrier but the lugs were not correctly orientated, on looking closer the defective light was PRC manufacture, tight arse didn't replace the light but modified the mounting to fit the incorrect lugs/dimples! Never seen another case of this problem!
  19. Colin I modified an old spanner as you suggest file the jaws and grind the thickness only issue is nowadays can I find it, no way where is it!
  20. Info & advice on the forum definitely affects peoples actions I was thinking of buying a Spit & Vit alloy water pump housings from Bastuk now definitely on hold as a response to the other thread re failing wheel studs. I think the TR register actions are great and must be commended, I hope the gang of 2 are tutoring others to assist & keep the ball rolling, maybe an interclub or sub groups inclusion would help all Trumpeteers! The Bastuk failing wheel studs scared the Sh=t out of me.
  21. On the Pattern Parts thread there is reference/inference to LED's replacement bulbs only being legal in certain classic car fixtures, can some one advise where there permitted or not, as I'm in Aus its only of interest, I 'm not aware of any edict here. I have LED's fitted to the Spit's tail, stop lights, and rear flashers, I find issues if I fit LED's to the front flashers even with a transistorized flasher can, but OK with std bulbs up front..
  22. Near my daughters in a residential area there’s a 4 way crossroads so there’ve put a small tight roundabout in, as you approach down the main drag the house on the right is built on a bank about 1.5mts high so vision is restricted to the right and as the roundabout is very tight what do the 4x4 cockies do when turning right cut the corner and miss the roundabout but the corners blind nearly been cleaned up a couple of times! Even the mothers do it in the Toorak tractors (Rangies) with the kids in the car!
  23. if worst come to worst you could always Demel off the outer casing with a cutting disc as the steel is very thin, you'd have to think the best way so the outer sleeve can be removed. I love my Dremel does so much esp with the remote flexible shaft fitted
