dannyb
I fitted one of those. A bargain. Top hose a bit tight with the standard hose.
pirate
I have just bought one will be fitting it to the Herald on re build. reconditioned original rads are expensive!
Colin Lindsay
That's a good price ok, it cost me that to have an original one recored. I don't need one... but....
johny
If you search a bit I've seen the same item at 90 delivered.....
daverclasper
"Who are those Guys", who make it. There's a racing rad for a ford Galaxie 500, which is an early 60's Merican car, though most stuff is post millennium.
Steve P
I thought it was cheap, but bought one for my new engine Herald project, looks fine but not fitted yet. Cost...i`m guessing Chinese bulk buy. Happening in lots of areas of supply including CCTV which is what i do. Steve
johny
had a Honda Civic ally jobbie in my Vitesse for a couple of years now no problems and at 50 quid delivered it was a lot cheaper than anything else I could find
pirate
Has anyone fitted the full width one (spitfire) to a 13/60 herald, not ready to fit mine yet but would be good to know what's involved.
Colin Lindsay
If it's got the same brackets as the original, then all you need to do is to remove the narrow one complete with side plates and fit the wider one as a straight replacement.
johny
If its one of the chinese examples it might need a bit of fettling as it was probably made using only a photo of an engine bay.... 1
Darren Groves
So I have finally fitted this radiator, all fine but as mentioned above the top hose is a bit of a problem. Not a tight fit, but the hose is just too short and whilst you can just about get a jubilee clip on either end it's worrying close to the edge. Anyone else fitted one of these reads and had this issue? Is there a hose out there with the same ID but longer? Darren
Guest
Hello Darren, I looked at your first link - the inlet & diameter size given (30mm) is that OD or ID; I presume OD ?? My suggestion would be silicone hose, for top & bottom, which you can purchase with numerous different ID's and at lengths that suit you. Could that assist ?? Regards. Richard. johny
I believe the problem is that the original hose is corrugated to absorb movement between the engine and radiator and if its replaced with a straight item this forward-backward flexibility will be lost so possibly putting stress on the rad pipe or even the rad mountings. Dont think its going to be easy to find a corrugated hose of exactly the right length.....
Guest
Good point, johny. Any good ?? https://www.hoseworld.com/rubber-radiator-hose-w-corrugated-cover.html

Darren Groves
I reckon even with a flexi-hose it would be an awkward fit at best, so have taken the radiator to a local guy to reposition the top hose connector so it's more inline with the thermostat housing. Bottom hose fits fine. Darren
SpitFire6
Hi, I have a Golf 40MM wide aluminium one on mine. The machines that make the cores can do at high output & aluminium sheet is very cheap compared to some metals. Labour is cheaper in China. Aluminium is a win-win compared to copper. Coolant choice can confuse. Cheers, Iain.
Guest
Good call Darren, that's an awful curve to deal with and would not get a satisfactory smooth curve no matter how clever the hose. Have to say the overall rebuild is looking spot-on. Regards. Richard.

Reweld the aluminium? loop looking an easy option. Cheers, Iain.

The guy doing the work is an accomplished fabricator, simple job for him he says and will do for £30....an ugly flexi-hose would be over £10, seemed like an easy decision. SpitFire6
Hi Darren, Envious of all the clean nice parts. So bendy curly rubber convoluted tube/pipe it is? Cheers, Iain.
