Josef
Oh I like that very much for being non-destructive. All the Herald heater blower conversions I’ve seen have involved cutting the heater box, which I’ve never liked the idea of. Not sure I’ll ever bother doing a conversion on either car, but good to know the idea is there!
PeteH
There was one, using a Nissan? Blower, I don`t remember that being too "destructive"?. Pete

PeteH
One of the issues, would be that, you can move more air. but without a larger Heat Exchanger, there is a limit to just how much heat is transfered to said Air. Basic Thermodynamics come into play. All other things taken into context, a clean clear Matrix is essential, for efficient working. I have wondered, if the casing would take a larger Matrix, or maybe a second one?. That would increase the transfer surface area, with a significant potential improvement.? wimpus
Just before my hand injury I had a gearbox fail. Laygear(NOS item) tooth broke off.. Who wants a candle holder ? 🙃
alan.gilbert_6384
Wow that’s quite a failure, what caused it? It’s not a normal failure the gear box is quite robust if the oil is changed every 20000000 miles or so 🤣

wimpus
Happy birthday / build day for Fox ! Build on 28/06/1978 and has done 340.800kms / +211.000miles 😅 This morning went to a belgian supplier 'Anglo Parts' as they had 2nd hand input shafts pretty cheap. 2nd pic is at my uncle's old sawmill and then I went of for therapy for my hand (few houses away from my uncle) Must say.. still not needed to top up the oil after 3500kms, so engine must be good. Still amazes me sonetimes that she has 'power' now. That can't be a bad thing 🙃😄 2
wimpus
Found amd bought 2 original steering wheels in Germany. One was worse then mine and the other one was really nice ! On mine the rubber was becoming loose off the rim and pieces of the rubber started to fall off. But it has done 341.000kms

wimpus
Then noticed my last set of Mintex m1144's where very worn.. Sadly due to brexit the Mintex pads now cost to much and nowhere to be found in europe.. EBC greenstuff i found easly, so time to try these for the first time. Checked the discs, where just below 8mm thick. So time to replaxe them to. As always.. got everything in my stock 😅 One side noticed a split dust cover/rubber.. I do have them in my stock to. I know i replaced 2 of the 4 ones some time ago, now replaced just the bad one.
wimpus
Few months ago I had my diff rebuild on my own and fitted it. But it soon started to leak. Then had an incident with my finger.. Now after 2 months I had a look. Side shafts flange to case was leaking. Took the shafts out and put sealant on them. Hopefully its now all dry !
wimpus
Today was a good testdrive.. 320kms /200miles done, engine runs very happy and pulls great. And no oil use like before the rebuild, yes.. it still amazed me. Fuel use wasnt to bad at first look. Lots of people came over to Fox for a talk. Did put a paper on my bonnet with engine specs and the high milage ! (Yes with magnets.. so not much filler 😅) The Dutch National Triumph Day.

wimpus
Been thinking to clean up the bulkhead and repaint it in bodycolor this time. Had a good look. Only surface rust. Will need to strip it in stages as you will all know.. its needed daily 😅 Paint will do on a long weekend. I've already got an uograded fuse box, but for years i've got a bigger one to put in. So will put in that now to 😅 Another little question i had was.. the coil. Noticed the bracket is bolted together with the heater valve bracket to the bulkhead. But on mine thats done with bolt and nut on the inside. So hard to remove on your own. Guess this is original ? Planning on using rivnuts now. Josef
There were originally welded nuts on the bulkhead for the coil and heater bracket. Rivnuts as a replacement will be considerably easier than welding something on upside down in the footwell!
Peter Truman
The Mk2 Vitesse only had 2 by 35A fuses I fitted two 6 bladed fuse box's exactly in its place, one each Battery & Ignition, the bottom 3 fuses on each fuse box were the original 3 fused outlets and the top 3 for new accessories. The upgraded fuse box's reqd only existing minor wire mods the Battery original 3 purple outlets were 2in to short so had to be extended, hard soldering with the brake servo where it is! Wimpus that cutting disc left its mark hope all good now.

But still getting better after every therapy session. Im already happy how it is now tbh. Oh yeah... really need to get used again with working with an angle grinder.
