  1. There are some parts on e bay at the moment: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRIUMPH-HERALD-VITESSE-CONVERTIBLE-DASHTOP-HOOD-POPPER-PLATES-VENTS-/253005681193?hash=item3ae8505229:g:3JsAAOSwjKFZS7EE Steve
  2. Have a look here: http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/registrations/yk.htm This indicates June 66 in the London area for that reg. My Vitesse (PHT) is June 68 in Bristol. That makes sense to me as i managed to find the first owner and talk to him. Steve
  3. Had one on my Vitesse until recently,it never fitted, had to cut and weld the down pipes but the biggest problem was the rubbish push fit collector, also it sat below the chassis too low so the 3 into 1 bit would hit the road on every journey when going over large bumps and potholes.. In the end i found an original MTP 6-3-1 and had a custom made single box system fitted by Simpson race exhausts.(Mat Simpson from BTCC series). Steve
  4. I have the Nick Jones setup on my MK 1 2.5 Vitesse,i went this route after snapping a drive shaft on the 2012 RBRR in Cornwall, which resulted in me being overtaken by my own rear wheel. Obviously being MK 1 i had to weld the wishbone brackets on the chassis and source the wishbones and tie bars etc. The car has done about 10,000 since then and it gives me much more confidence knowing i shouldn`t lose a wheel. Nick was helpful all the way through.I wish he still did them as i would do my Herald. Steve
  5. My Spal fan is run on its own circuit from the fuses and is permanent so when i`m parking it in my lockup after ticking over for a bit the fan starts up after i turn the engine off.Does it make any difference?,who knows.. Steve
  6. My Vitesse is the same, you didn`t mention in your list of removed bolts that you took off the two seat belt mounts by the handbrake tunnel, they hold the tub to the chassis as well? Steve
  7. Andy is probably on the Isle of Wight for the regular weekender,as are most of the regulars i suspect. I would have attended but had no idea it had started again. Steve
  8. I live near Ascot/Windsor and often drive through the town in my Vitesse or Herald,on sunny days you often see old Bentleys,Astons or E- types out, they never wave ,i don`t think they want to engage with the working classes.. I suppose i could offer to clean their chimneys for them.. S
  9. I think i have one of those on my Herald 13/60 and it takes a lot more leg to brake,i am going to change it back. Steve
  10. My MK 1 Vitesse 2l has one on the Brake MC.Been there since i bought the car in 1985. Steve
  11. A couple of months ago i removed my old 1986 Triumph-Tune twin box system as i was fed with it keep hitting the ground.I had a single box system custom made from the manifold back with the box sitting up next to the rear boot rigger. Sounds great if you give it a boot full but quiet on a motorway. Manifold is a Mike The Pipe 6-3-1. Steve
  12. Surprised to hear this as i thought he was mainly responsible for the extensive new product lines now available. Is there an official announcement? Steve
  13. I Have Pirelli P4 on my Vitesse and Uniroyal rain experts on my Herald, both good for me.I think i paid about £35-£40 each on Black Circles. Steve
  14. There`s one above the oil filter housing on my 2.5 which dissolved when the block was cleaned,i only realised when oil starting pumping out when cranking the new engine. As said they come in a stick of 8 or 9,i filed two flats either side so i could get a spanner on it then sawed through the stick once fitted and filed flat. S
  15. The carcass is the same,i did the same to my Vitesse which got saloon doors in the eighties when you were still allowed to climb piles of cars in scrapyards(2 perfect doors for £20!),I might be able to get some measurements for you this week from my Herald CV. Steve
  16. Cd 175`s will work but there wont be as many needle options for Strombergs. Steve
  17. I thought the angle of the engine on the 2.5 came from the front plate mountings,i didn`t modify the long `S` manifold on my Vitesse 2.5 but it does have short dashpots from a Sprint. Not sure if that`s relevant to a GT6 though. S
  18. Do they make springs to any requirement?,i want to get my old TT one from 1985 redone as it sits too low now. S
  19. The belt on my Vitesse with a Lucas acr unit is a 1050 if that helps. Steve
  20. See if Andy Cook chimes in,he might know. S
  21. Complete box on e bay at the moment: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-2000-2500-2-5-A-TYPE-OVERDRIVE-GEARBOX-full-working-order-/162336951233?hash=item25cc094bc1:g:9E8AAOSw-0xYZB65 Steve
  22. By the way the title says MK 2 but isnt it a MK 1 2L? i thought i could see the push rod tubes in the engine pic. Steve
  23. Have you tried Wins in Sussex? Bound to have one. Steve
  24. Like the tray arrangement for the master cylinders, lovely car + job. Must go and drive my MK 1 now. S

    Car SOS

Quite like Car SOS,Tim Shaw makes me laugh sometimes. It can be interesting especially when they show things like cold stitching a cracked block. Good programme on channel 4 last night with Philip Glenister and Ant Antstead restoring a 1958 racing Lotus Elite. S
