  1. If you can hear the movement, it is getting too much, if you can feel it, it is bad, if you can see it, too late. 😞 1mm is way too much, expect the worst.
  2. Similar but slightly larger. they have 2 studs on back for visual identification
  3. The master is the issue I think. The Lockheed’s seal in a different way to the Girlings, and holding slave up night encourages the air out of the master.
  4. Take the slave off and hold it as high in air as possible, then bleed it. Hardest Triumph of the lot to bleed the clutch. Can be known to reduce grown men to tears.
  5. I went to,look at Lord Lucans 2000 estate many years ago, that had a premium attached to it. And no Cluedo cards in the glovebox.
  6. Also note if you put a 3-synchro top cover on a 4-synchro box you lose reverse engagement.
  7. Just get an old laptop and install Win 7 or XP or whatever. Or install it on a USB stick and just boot from that on your normal laptop when required. Or you could try running in some sort of VM. You could also get one of the programmable 123 distributors, but you do lose the Rev counter, so would need to get an electronic one adapted.
  8. Sun visors were optional extra on Mk3 Spitfire, and I think I have only seen a couple of sets of correct ones in 30-odd years. TR4/5/6 ought to be similar, same screen after all, but aren’t. I have a cap for when it is sunny.
  9. Good news. Try not to keep us all in suspense too long.. 🙂
  10. Lots of us are waiting fir the club bookings to open.
  11. Pin has pushed through the operating arm for the clutch?
  12. Original TR6 are small stub axles, same size as Herald. And James’s kits fit the 2000 axles.
  13. If gearbox is in car, why just try driving it?
  14. Have they told you it isn’t on the database, or did you just do an online search? If the latter, just apply for the logbook and see what happens, it may just be suppressed due to lack of communication, they will write back if they have any queries. And be very careful about supply any info over and above what they require, it can lead to a lot of pain and hassle.
  15. Ipswich reg number, not not travelled far from home. Shared showroom space with my MK1 Pi I reckon.
  16. This one was a sleeve inside input shaft, and once fixed in place the hole was reinstated. Well that is what I did. Will look at issue 54 later.
  17. I am trying to find a Courier article I followed many years ago to get the mainshaft in a 3-rail gearbox repaired. It involved grinding tip a fraction and opening out input shaft and fitting a better bearing. Had all the dimensions and a suggested bearing listed. Have followed loads of links to articles in Courier Archive (found looking in actual magazine much faster!) but it has eluded me. Colin
  18. I’ve got a red one! One day you may get to drive it if you are lucky and don’t mind a lingering afterthought of “eau de unburnt hydrocarbon” Damson looks good, white needs to have a black interior, blue or red looks wrong, Dark blue looks good as well. Very fresh magenta is different. Less so as it ages. And final bit of advise for SWS, avoid chrome wire wheels unless you are a masochist with a fetish for polishing.
  19. If you have had to mod the slave to get a nice feel, now will be best time to fix the actual problem. possibly the arm worn, wrong bearing, pivot repaired with a bolt etc....
  20. I think you need to fit spacers with some inserts. the screw on cap needs to lock the insert solid
  21. Nice, but wow, what a price!
  22. Got a pile of them somewhere.
  23. I am not going to say a word about my garages. 🤐
  24. If the Engine number was lost when it was decked then just stamp the number showing on the V5 on the current engine. Blocks are the same, so it could have just had the crank changed.
