  1. Marina or Ital I think I was told. they are used on rear of dolomites to eliminate the appearance of the wheels being right under the arches. My brothers Dolly had them. Looked much better.
  2. I always thought they were copies of the original dealer fobs. I have a couple that are very old. And some newer ones.
  3. Just make sure the internal, oilway has not been blocked off, occasionally a proper job was actually done
  4. One has vents in the bonnet, and one has a roof.
  5. Just found the info. 8" long for 3.3" head 8.125" for 3.4" head 8 5/16 for tallest head. (3.475")
  6. There are different length push rods, but it may not help you, 2.5 S ones are longer, if you fit Vitesse ones to a 2.5 you end up with 150 thou gaps even at maximum adjustment, found that out when a mate asked me to look at his incredibly asthmatic Saloon. So 2.5 ones won't help. Mk1 2000 ones may be slightly shorter than Mk2 2000 but are possibly a different size.
  7. 30 years ago when I used o trawl scrapyards you always avoided the cars with Ziebart stickers as they'd would be the most rotten I assume they would block the drain channels with the wax.
  8. Buy a spare 3-synchro Herald gearbox, they are peanuts, and should donate 2 good synchro, and may also have a better layshaft and bearings. No one wants the early boxes now, and there are loads about.
  9. I really would not worry about the paintwork. The car is 50 plus years old. It is never going to be perfect, and unless it is supposed to be concours is not going to affect value. My Mk3 Spitfire is covered in sticker rash, don't see it as a problem.
  10. When I took the sump off my 2.5PI there was about 1.5"'of sludge, with black and grey layers in it, as it had periods of bearing wear. And a dip where the end was fnthe oil pump pickup went. When I first got the car you could not see the rockers for the thick back gunge all over them. And it stunk of neglect. I do not believe the previous owner ever serviced the car in the 100k he owned it. But then it was an old Triumph and not really worth anything, and he was a farmer.
  11. Well on the YouTube feed. Hopefully see it on the roads tomorrow. Corbeauseatsrally.co.uk
  12. Still got plenty from the road trip.
  13. What is really annoying is the £99 limit on the pumps, mean don't I have to fill up n 2 goes. luckily I didn't need to completely fill the 22- gallon tank. 😞 No limits in Colchester, £115 of diesel purchased. No diesel in Ipswich to fill other car. 😞
  14. Convertible, anti burst catch on door.
  15. I thought The Shamen said they weren't.
  16. A few of my cars are pretty original. Mk3 Spit had a swing spring and a Mk4 Spit gearbox. And oval hole wheels. Mk4 Spit has a different bonnet, and 1500 engine and box, but I know where Original engine and box are And I have a couple of proper bitzas 😀
  17. I drove a Mk4 Spitfire with a Stainless system that looked just like a standard GT6 rear box, it was a Bell Semi Sports one I beleive. Boy was It loud! Much more raucous than the twin system. Establish if that's one is a standard rear box, or look for a standard 1500 system.
  18. That is not the case in many towns. The one in Chelmsford is now properly labelled after lots of people had their fines dropped due to poor signage. I am sure it wasn't a deliberate act, especially as it cut off a very popular road.
  19. Triumph gearbox should be fine on 20/50, overdrives like it as well, allegedly more so than EP. Not the diff though.
  20. I saw diesel at £194.9 today, highest ever. most was about £1.75 to £1.80 think I need to visit a deprived area, wonder if there is 1 round here
  21. You could remove the propshaft, but... I also thought the small chassis diff needed to be parallel to the road as it starves the nose bearing of oil if put on a spectacle lift. could you tie steering wheel and lift the back wheels?
  22. I don't remember any of my Roundtails having "Air" on the toggle switch. What is wrong with the knob for the wipers?
  23. Loads of dealers sell "on behalf of the owner" thus avoiding the warranty requirements Sometimes that owner is the dealer himself, or one of his relatives. But it is not the company that owns it, so that is fine.
  24. Somebody has nicked all the lights. Or kicked them all in frustration.
  25. Going back to lights, the layout on the front of6003VC is interesting.
