  1. Morning Andrew Are you still looking to get some work done on your GT6? Might know a couple of people who can help you out. Cheers Colin
  2. Was in a Notex fog light, half of a pair with a spotlight. Light fitting has 2 springs that press against the 2 pins. The bulb was made by Mazda, 12v 55w
  3. Was in an old spotlight, and looks a bit H1. Shouldn't be blue!
  4. That is a really nice car. not sure I could ever face filling it up. I wince at filling the Discovery and it's 20 gallon tank.
  5. Later 2.5S had a 28% overdrive, got a few spares on the shelf. But J-types and D-types are usually 25% and A- type are 22%. Well I think the D were 25%. Would need to have a look.
  6. Being intrigued, I had to go in search of the "dodgy" mnemonics. perhaps the one about the bad boys is not so acceptable, The vodka one or the plans one are quite acceptable
  7. We have a Bi-directional roundabout in Colchester, worked really well until they put a set of traffic lights just off one of the exits. Now it locks solid regularly. And for some reason the anti clockwise inner part gets terrible pot holes as the tarmac gets ripped up
  8. Not that many years ago, that looks like a Nokia 6310i, or possibly the predecessor. The greatest mobile phone ever made. 10 days minimum standby, and gets a signal when all around it fails. Lots still in use, I have a few spares just in case.
  9. Most likely Gumtree or FB marketplace now
  10. Somebody has a BW35 bellhousing I sent to GT6M last year, Was picked up, then not a trace, didn't even show as getting to collection depot.
  11. Isn't using sand unsafe? Silicosis? The vacuum on my blast cabinet just sucks all the media out whilst it is airborne. 😞
  12. My Insignia has projector headlights, and had the standard fit halogen bulbs, utterly useless, two murky piss-holes in the snow . And I didn't even get people flash me if I left the main beams on. Utterly utterly useless. Post purchase research revealed I should have looked for 1 with Xenon lights. roll on a couple of years and One of the P45 headlight bulbs fails, and at £45 each, I went in search of LED replacements. £40 a pair. What a difference, wish I had done it years earlier. Much better light spread, the whiteness of the LED is so much better than the yellow of the halogens. And I can dazzle the idiots in their German cars that don't care that they drive on main beam permanently,
  13. Yes, straight in, identical fittings
  14. What make? Cibie. Anything else will probably be worse. But they ain't cheap.
  15. Just follow column switch wiring down the column and you will find a bunch of bullets.
  16. You could also buy a Mk4 Spitfire type 4-synchro box without OD and Make 2 into 1, and infact also have a non-OD Vitesse box at the end. Unless it is a Vitesse 1600 OD box. Needs to be 2-litre.
  17. I am sure the OEM supplier of Furflex seals is still going, near London ISTR. I was looking for Cactus ones a few years ago, didn't follow it up.
  18. I have had a few cars with o-rings at base of gearstick. at least one could have been there from new. No idea why, perhaps they couldn't be bothered to fit it to right place on production line.
  19. Me too, brush what you can and spray with underbody wax. Save the effort for the next full rebuild, which will probably never come. See You tomorrow night to discuss further!
  20. I reckon the choke linkage has dropped out, as the PO did not adjust the ends correctly.
  21. The part number on the rear extension translates as MG Midget and Spitfire Mk4 1500 (US version?) So perhaps it is. Had forgotten about TR7 4-speed. The paint colour is that used by a major reconditioning company many years ago, and they painted everything. I have one still in its plastic wrapper.
