  1. I assume the under bonnet heat, in this area, can fatigue the outer plastic, though can it also affect the copper wire?. Other areas. From an age point of view, is the wiring generally sound, aside from possible oxidation around the terminals/joints?
  2. I use the standard blue stuff. Can Prestone be mixed with this, eg, to top up?
  3. Is that a good idea for any pads Pete?. Also, will they bed in after time anyway (or is it like American muscle car camshafts, WONT)
  4. Same here (and less to go wrong), I can always take my blue tooth portable speaker, if needs must.
  5. I remember someone mentioned an AA guy, had got someone going by doing this?
  6. I understand, a dodge (maybe just to eliminate?), is to put a finger, off a surgical glove over the rotor shaft/Cam?
  7. Just use less 🙂. Old joke. You've won a years supply of Marmite/Vegamite. One jar
  8. Is that unevenness your addressing, typical age related distortion, rather than any physical damage?
  9. I have used Blue Hylermar on low pressure connections. Talked to the company and they don't advertise a petrol resistant, though they had done some tests and it implied it could well be?
  10. Third world are often very clever and resourceful it appears
  11. Sure. Maybe, they don't have to be removed again, or only occasionally?
  12. Not read all the details on this thread, though reading previous, it may be that 3mm-5mm spacer/gaskets has solved issues
  13. I think most/all the current ones sold, are a bit generic and may require simple mods to the frame (eg, drilling different holes) and alternative hooks maybe?. Baines do some Triumph ones, and maybe better quality, as do manufacture at least some/all? of their stock, I understand?
  14. Mike Papworth sells complete units (maybe depends what he has as stock, as getting rarer, I imagine?), which I assume he will have checked/reconditioned and offered a guarantee/. Maybe a safer, more straightforward way of going about it
  15. Not very professional, though I used a hammer and punch for the 3 plugs
  16. On Lucas C40L, as I had no impact wrench, I cross cut the old nut with a hack saw to remove. I just replaced with a standard UNF nut, though can't remember the size. Seemed to fit fine, and assumed it was ok?. no probs with it since after lots of miles. Not even sure if this is relevant to thread, as this aspect of it, went a bit above my head?
  17. Is that because of disintegration, or not replaced, or could be either?
  18. Thanks, Is that, one each side? Not had a look, though not sure what the bonnet support tube is?, is the loop obvious?
  19. My bonnet to door gaps are on the large side. I understand the adjustable rods are used to, well, adjust this?. Anything need loosening at the front pivot/hinge first?, to allow movement/adjustment.
  20. Interesting. The parts held up over time, do you know?
  21. I reused my old seals. I have heard of folk carefully slicing them in half?
