I use the OKE stuff too. Buy it from an Ebay seller and it is absolutely fine in both cars clutch and brake.

wimpus
Been busy the last few days. Lots of welding on the TR5. Diff mounts made stronger and repaired a little rust hole... that turned out much worse. Sadly my cold (again..) has got worse, so that stops play a bit. wimpus
Now... I've got a nasty knock, knock at the rear since 3 days. Only happens once each journey and mostly when I leave somewhere after I have parked for a while. Yesterday inspected every bush, every bolt etc etc. Halfshaft hubs not hitting anything inside the drum. UJ need a goo look at, 5 years old now and... 120.000kms/74.500miles. Do these have been really good. Cant find anything bad.. Cleaned out the drums etc. As that needed to be done anyway. Can only find a little bit of play at the leaf spring eye bushes (everything is poly exept those). I know these bushes can give a knock to, had this years ago. Hope its not the diff, but it turns nice etc. Will see what to do. Leaf spring eye bushes is also not a fun job with spring on the car 🙄

wimpus
Yesterday helped out witg the TR5 of my friend. Well, the last 6 weeks acrually. But we are into the paint stage. Some bushes need to be fitted in the trailing arms and.. then fit everything back. Now it was mostly derusting and paint. We used 2K Novol chassis paint as primer where we had done 'Tanik' (belgian rust convertor). And then we will stonechip it all.
wimpus
When I was driving home yesterday night.. noticed scratches on the windscreen in my sight.. They come from the wipers, dont know why as they are still good. I remembered i've one done a TR6 of a friend his windscreen with an ebay kit.. Found the kit in my shed... after 8 years at least 😅 It did work really well, but ran out if polish 😑 I truelly hate windscreens now..
wimpus
A few weeks ago noticed the rubber gaiters on my ball joints leaking grease and going bad.... again ! Top ball joint, from march 2020. 2 Times replaced the ball joints and 6 times replaced the rubber. I was now really getting fed up. Found a company in Bulgaria called Polyboots etc. They sell them in rubber and poly. Bought poly ones, now to test them ! Sadly no clips with them, so used stainless wire to secure them. (Ofcourse the ones I orderes for the track rod ends where... to big).
Peter Truman
I use thin (black) cable ties (UV stabilized) to secure the boots, haven't failed yet!

You are right.. Bpost charges already for there paperwork alone.. then tax. So rather would let them ship from Bulgaria. But thanks Alan for the link ! But.. I did buy some su needles from Minispares UK. Saved me a lot on money. Belgian supplier : 43 euro/needle Germany: 25 to 33 euro/needle Minispares: like 10 euro, but with tax etc 17,25 euro/needle incl shipping. Then jets... Belgian supplier.... 63 euro for 1 jet ! Bought some at Bastuck germany.. 19,25 euro/jet 😅 Like now I need an armrest kit from Owen (Park lane) He asks 45 euro, here its like 120 to 150 euro for the kit.. And I know Owen make a good kit and can choose the same grain as the rest of the interior.
DVD3500
I don't want to start a BREXIT conversation but I also have noticed that a lot of UK places have lowered their prices to the point that it is cheaper than within the EU. I have a few theories as to why that might be but this is not the place... At the end of the day though as a consumer our jobs are the same as always Do your research and pick the supplier that gives you the best bang for your buck. wimpus
Yesterday again helped a friend out. Was planning to work on his TR5... but his TR250 bonnet and bootlid was ready to refit at the painters... So did that, incl fitting various brackets that we repainted under the bonnet. And I could drive it home 🙃. But we first stopped at the new owners home to show her. Now just the badges needed to be put on. Then PCV... It was disconnected and the breather system didnt work great.. so pushing oil out out of the engine. And you cant buy the correct hoses anymore.. So... made something out of a Spitfire coolant hose 😅
wimpus
Oh.. and we did fit bushes on the trailing arms of the TR5. Previous we tried with his press.. But was very hard to do. He didnt gave studding, so yesterday took some with me from home. 5mins and they where in. Just need a bit of help from some pliers 🙃
