  1. The new 1500 in my Herald made 92bhp on the rollers,it has a 3:63 diff and single rail o/d box,i`m more worried about the driveshafts as i snapped one before at the hub end on my Vitesse, not fun when your back wheel overtakes you. Steve
  2. I would also check the fuel pipes haven`t degraded and are allowing air in somewhere,i had a similar issue on my Herald. Steve
  3. Think mine is 1055. S
  4. I have one of his last ones on the shelf,he had a few not trimmed around the edges so i got one. Steve
  5. It can be a bit short, depends where you go with the revs,it picks up quickly anyway so it doesn`t bother me.No idea of the ratio, bought the box from e bay and had Mike Papworth rebuild it.70 mph o/d 4th is about 2900 rpm,bit scary over 90mph as it needs a 4 wheel alignment. The only issue i had was clutch geometry,i used a modified Vitesse flywheel and had to play with different bearing carriers to get it right, then it wore out the AP plate i was using in 10k miles, ended up with a paddle type and good so far. Steve
  6. I went the big saloon box route on my 2.5 Vitesse with a 3:27 diff with a TR7 carrier. My engine was on the rollers when new and made 172BHP peak, can`t remember the torque number but it pulls like a train in all gears and will go up a hill in o/d 4th no problem. Had to CV convert it as it snapped a driveshaft, diff and gearbox all good so far after 13k miles. I remember going down the Staines bypass a few years back giving it the beans, there was a guy behind me in a Jag XFR,when we stopped at traffic lights,he wound the window down and said"you must have a V8 in that". S
  7. I have a Triumphtune rear arb kit for my Vitesse in the garage, bought from TT in Richmond around 1986,never fitted as the car handled great with the TT spring i had on it anyway. Steve
  8. I had a newly built 1500 engine at considerable expense fail due to head gasket issues after 500 miles,i had used waterless coolant. When it was stripped down, the whole engine internally was caked with jelly like stuff, the builder thought the waterless stuff had reacted with the oil and emulsified,it meant a complete strip down and cleanout before another rebuild. Steve
  9. I`m going to do a CV conversion on my Herald soon, part of this will be replacing the old standard original spring with a new courier one i have, with a 1" block. Thing is,it has a 3:63 diff in a four stud casing,i have been using it like this for at least 8 years with no issues, including completing the 2014 RBRR in it. Any thoughts?. Steve

I knew i had some somewhere,i bought 8(?) Bosch W7DTC for my 2.5 Vitesse in 2019,but haven`t fitted them yet as i wasn`t sure they would work better than the BP6ES i have in there. Steve
  11. I tried the Bilthamber stuff on a rusty Merc 450SLC fuel tank, didn`t work for me and i ended up scrapping the tank. Steve
  12. Sorry to hijack but does anyone know which ones to use?,i am about to replace the 1980`s Spax rears on my Vitesse with Koni,it is a MK 1 but i converted it to roto and then CV shafts.I use the original shock top mounts for the MK 1 chassis. Steve
  13. Could mean it was rebored enough times to make it hard to get pistons for,or maybe they thought the block casting was too thin for another one(not sure how they would know this). S
  14. You can have it for the cost of postage,pm me your address. Steve
  15. Found this in my lockup, not sure which side it is,there will be another one somewhere but i can`t find it at present. Steve
  16. Just looked in my shed where i have another set with adjustable radius arms for my Herald CV conversion, and they are much more angled than the standard swing axle ones,so i must have replaced the ones on the Vitesse,i will look in my lockup when i get a chance. Steve
  17. Hello Colin, I can`t remember if i used my originals when i did a CV conversion,i will have a look in my garage. Have you tried Wins in East Grinstead?all sorts of second hand stuff. https://www.winsintltd.co.uk/ Steve
  18. 2 pin are the inner ones, thanks anyway. Are yours 3 terminal 5.75 inch ones Pete? (smut alert). Steve
  19. Anyone know where i can get a pair for a Vitesse?,it`s the outside pair with the 3 pin connector,60/50 watt. All i can find is halogen conversions which i don`t want to do. Steve

Could be,some modern repro pumps put out too much pressure for the float valves, worth cleaning and checking the valves first, check for debris or slivers of fuel pipe floating around. Steve
  21. I have 123 Tune USB on my tuned Vitesse 2.5 and 1500 Herald, much easier to setup from a laptop or mobile if you have the bluetooth one. I think it made the rolling road setup easier to change curves whenever you need, mine has 2 maps you can switch between if you want for different driving styles. (economy or big right foot). Vitesse has an electronic tacho and matching speedo from Speedy cables. Herald, i just bought a small cheap rev counter off e bay that runs off the coil,it sits in front of the original speaker on the tunnel.
  22. If you wouldn,t mind, who and where is the rolling road chap?. I have been looking for one for a racing Metro with Webers. Steve
  23. I put a Vitesse bottle on my Herald when i fitted the new 1500,i put some coolant in the bottle to gauge what happened,in 500 miles it never saw hot water in the bottle,so it can`t have either drawn or expelled coolant into it. Steve
  24. Which is my expensive Vitesse ally rad leaks.(me) On my new Herald 1500 engine,i used one of the Chinese full width ally rads and left the mechanical fan in,it actually over cools. Steve
