  1. I used Park Lane for my GT6 seats - foams and covers. Still very happy with the outcome 5 years down the line. Only word of warning is that Owen doesn't do the original basket weave pattern vinyl. Gully
  2. In the Porter & Williams restoration book (which is quite old now) they show a remote filter adaptor assembly - looks like the Mocal adaptor plate with pipe fittings taking braided oil hoses to a spin-on filter plate that can be mounted on the bulkhead or chassis rail. Much better and more flexible arrangement, but I've never found one. The single piece spin-on adaptor available now is a nightmare for the GT6 for all the reasons photographed above! Gully
  3. When I had a new spring on my rotoflex GT6 I fitted a half inch lowering block initially, anticipating the spring would settle. It did so over the following 12 months or so, whereupon I (eventually!) removed the block. It's not uncommon. Not sure how the lowering blocks work with the swing spring cars, but assume they sit between the diff and the spring in the same way. Mine wouldn't have sat that high with the new spring without the block... Gully
  4. When the forum was last updated I lost the ability to post from our old Ipad 2, which is still running IOS 9.3.5 (won't take any more recent updates). I can view posts okay on it, but nothing else (except 'like' - the other emoji options don't appear either). Gully
  5. Another vote for Toyos here. My Triumph doesn't do enough miles in lousy conditions to merit a top brand tyre. I'd rather purchase a cheaper, softer tyre that gives good dry grip, is quiet and I've a chance of using a reasonable proportion of the tread depth before age-related replacement! I do around 2,500 miles a year in the GT6... I'm a big fan of Falken tyres for modern and classic, but couldn't find a deal when I replaced the GT6 tyres 18 months ago, hence the Toyos. Think they were c. £42-£45 per corner fitted via Blackcircles. Gully
  6. Doesn't necessarily mean they have their feet on brake pedals - many modern automatics put the brake lights on if you use the auto-hold function. They continue to shine / dazzle even when the auto-stop for the engine has cut in. Only moving into Park turns off the brake lights. Gully
  7. I prefer Mimosa to Inca. My first choice colour for a GT6 is Java Green, but the only one available when I was looking for mine had the most atrocious post-restoration panel gaps... Gully
  8. Same seller does a nice GT6 Mk 3 one too. Gully
  9. I detest lane assist. I'm into the routine now of starting the car, then immediately switching it off. Can't abide the system tugging at the steering as I avoid pot holes or its momentary panics when the camera picks up old / changed white lining marks. Gully
  10. According to Moss, the ribbed ones are original: https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/shop-by-model/triumph/spitfire/body-chassis/body-fittings/rear-body-fittings-spitfire-mkiv-1500-1970-80.html Part 25 on the linked diagram. Gully
  11. Bruntingthorpe aerodrome is covered in new and ex-fleet vehicles and the company operating the storage there has recently taken part of RAF Wyton too. Bedford aerodrome is also a parking lot. Gully
  12. Black plastic? Interesting. I have one installed and a spare in the shed and both have metal knurled knobs. Did the bean counters get to your's?! 🤣 Gully
  13. I'm with you, Nigel. As a former BMW and Mercedes driver I've always found the Audi drivers to be the problem! 🤣 It's no coincidence that most new-ish Audis are fleet cars... People moan about BMW drivers not letting them out at junctions - one of the first things I noticed when I had mine was how other BMW drivers do let you out... Gully
  14. Or if you know the TPM for the 3.89 ratio diff and also for the 3.27 diff (it's written on the different speedos) you can interpolate what you need for the 3.63 - which is what I did to get the 1075 TPM. I gave that info to Speedy Cables, they worked to that and it's correct. Gully
  15. It's great - I do quite a few motorway / A-road journeys in mine and it's fine. I found with the original 3.27 diff I was rarely using the overdrive unless I was cruising, but now I find flicking in and out of OD in 3rd is really useful on twisty roads! I've not driven a 3.89 ratio diff car (the standard UK market Mk3 with OD), but I'd guess it would be a bit revvy cruising on motorways. I see 3000RPM (or just under) at 70. Gully
  16. When I had my 3.27 ratio diff replaced with a 3.63 I got Speedy Cables to recalibrate my speedo to 1075 TPM, which appears to be spot on against the Sat Nav. Gully
  17. They're being sold by Mark Field, formerly of Jigsaw, so I assume that's what they used for their diff rebuilds in the past. He also has a 3.63 ratio advertised. Gully
  18. He does. When I shared a few pictures of my GT6 having some paintwork done earlier in the year onto one of the GT6 Facebook groups, he contacted me and offered me the spring cover with integrated stop light if I needed one. Gully
  19. The wheel Clive pictured was used in the Mk 2 GT6 from commission no. KC75031 onwards and then into the Mk 3, although it would have had the Triumph shield in the centre originally on the horn push. Gully
  20. I understand it's a one-man band - certainly seemed to be the case as they had to check when he had a slot to fit my diff in. I don't know who, though. Gully
  21. I went the electronic version route when I replaced my voltage stabiliser. Instead of clipping onto the back of the speedo, I slid the eyelet on the case over the speedo mounting bracket thread and held it in place with the knurled nut. Orientation isn't important with the solid state ones. I have found that even with the right supply voltage, my GT6 fuel gauge never quite drops to empty, even when the sender is at its lowest position. I think a few people have found this with the current (no pun intended!) crop of senders. Gully
  22. Michelins and sidewall crazing - worth looking at country of manufacture. On a previous car I had 3 German Michelins and 1 Spanish Michelin. The Spanish one crazed on the sidewall after 2-3 years, whilst the German ones were fine. I run 175/70 R13 Toyo NanoEnergy 3s on my GT6 - very happy with them. They replaced a set of Avons, which every tyre place I went to struggled with balancing. Gully
  23. My GT6 has a 3.63 diff built into a 6 bolt case. When I first had it rebuilt by a local firm (from the 3.27 original ratio) it was lousy, with apparently no effort to set the pre-load and the quality of the supposed 'good used' pinion somewhat questionable - see below! I then had it rebuilt through Robsport and whilst it wasn't cheap, I've had no issues since - quiet and leak-free. Their go-to chap is more used to Stag diffs, but clearly understands Triumphs. Gully

    GT6 Oil Filter

I have a Vitesse filter canister on my GT6, so always have to remember to buy the larger GFE131 filter and not the standard GFE138 for the GT6. Read somewhere that the smaller canister on the GT6 was simply standardising for the LHD market where the deeper canister clashed with the steering column. Gully
